SIYA KE RAM- 14/05
Watched the episode today... Missed the beginning though..
Am not a feminist or a pseudo feminist or whatever... I believe in balance... If there's woman empowerment, there should be man empowerment also.. I wonder many times why don't we see each other juz as human beings? Is it that difficult? I don't think so. The logic is simple. If a man is given a chance to put forth his opinion, woman should also be given that chance.. If one doesnt want anyone to call a woman as bitch, one should also expect that no one calls the man as a dog. Few are bad but that doesnt mean the whole race is. If there's ravan, there's also ram. Same applies to women to. If there's surpankha there's also sita.
Why can't we see everyone as humans... Why can't we see as good people and bad people instead of man and woman?
And trust me SKR is giving us a balance...
I didn't watch previous episodes but today I got this from the episode...
Today sita said a very interesting thing.. Jab jab stree ka apmaan hua hai...
Its very important that we take this show metaphorically and not literally. Its very much needed that we remind ourselves that its prakriti-sanskriti dynamics...
Charvi here is my interpretation I don't know how good it holds.. But smthn I thot of as the episode was over...
Jayant depicts sanskriti whereas surpankha is prakriti.. Woman is always seen as prakriti and man as sanskriti..
Ram punished sanskriti... Even when he lost his calm with surpankha he did kept his rage within limits..
Lakshman punished prakriti.. He lost his mind to such an extent that he chopped off her nose ( he wasn't wrong but he went overboard). What's bothering sita more are shurpi's words and maybe even this fact that she has known or seen ravan...
Now c what lakshman says.. Its my deed I'll suffer...Alas!!!! This boy doesn't know what's cmn on his bhai and bhabhi..
One most recurring word was "pratishodh" I.e revenge..
And when one thinks of revenge its "khoon ke badle khoon. Izzat ke badle izzat"
And this is what happens... Shurpi's dignity, ego, respect all gone with the nose.. What ravan does is directly bring sita.. Now even when sita was saved, agnipariksha was given what remained was the "stain" juz like shatrughna had said after he had announced the penalty for Dhobi's girl..
This is a clear clear contrast now...
Surpankha took the punishment as a medium to seek revenge.. Sita will take the banishment to prove herself .. That's the difference between right and wrong.
Ravan will seek revenge for his sister's insult...
Ram will not succumb to revenge but will think for the greater good of "rajdharma"
C the effects here...
Ravan thought of revenge destroyed his own dynasty..
Ram thought of sacrifice his dynasty saw only prosperity...
Surpankha thought of self. Ended nose less..
Sita was selfless. Ended next to the purity of Ganga.
SKR is showing this contrast between different ideologies and its effects...
For once stop seeing it as feminist or patriarchal..
Best scenes-
Lakshman's concerns
Ram's "uddeshya"
The similar yet contrasting ideologies of ppl in Lanka- ravan, meghnad and vibhishan.
