I forgot to add why taraka and why not surpankha?
Its very imp to c the different aspects and scenarios. Taraka was killing people.. While surpankha is behind one...One concept on which Ramayana or ram or ayodhya thrives upon is "ek anek".Ram took to fight and kill taraka because she was harming the mankind I.e " anek".Coming to surpankha the crime shrinked in nature.. It was limited only to ram and sita.. Ram would definitely have done smthn had lakshman not jumped the gun in the fit of rage.Lakshman as a protector is fine but what he did was wrong primarily cz of this reason that it was a matter between husband, wife and a stranger. Lakshman jumping in only made the matters worse.. The effects we already know..

Perhaps,I didnt see it with SKR's way.Because the Valmiki Ramayan has not exactly what SKR showed.
