I loved this sentence. A society which decides karma based on birth need to hear it.our caste system has created stereotypes. A person born in certain caste is supposed to do only certain things. Who are we to decide that. A prince ram has to take vanvass. A born Prince Krishna was gopal and then he became charioteer for his friend. Did those actions take away their position or enriched their position. But we are hell bent on having manual scavenging for certain people. Devdasi system still happens. Even educated girls and boys from many communities are treated inferior. Infact killed in the name of honour killing. And if that is not enough ram tells another thing. A woman keeps sindhoor in her forehead as a mark of her being married. Forehead is where she keeps her husband. And as she goes higher he took goes higher. A man seeking expression through woman. Her love. Everytime her love is vindicated in front of society his choice of going for her gets vindicated. Siya ke ram he is who allowed her to walk in front of him. And that didn't diminish him.

Absolutely !
Work determines the position or greatness of a human was beautifully explained by Ram today .
The example of Mother Earth , the rivers etc were so very apt !
SKR defenitely portrays a deeper love story of the divine couple which is to be understood and followed .
Their relationship was filled with mutual respect, care , concern and love for each other .

Everything that Ram says, is coming straight from the lips/heart of Narayan, the Protector of this Universe. Who can compete with with God? Who can mirror his ideologies to a T? Certainly not the common man. Even his own father, Dashrath would have a hard time living Ram's ideals. Janak to a certain extent was better than Dashrath in that respect. No wonder then, he was a Rajrishi...But Ram was Ram, na bhuto, na bhavishyati...He was a perfect example of leading by example. He showed the world by his behavior what maryada (boundary, limit) meant. Even when he fought Ravan, he was completely within his limits, never straying even once. I remember a dialogue in the older version of Ramayan, when Vibhushan catches the spies sent by Ravan to uncover Sugreev's army's strengths and weaknesses. Everyone suggests death penalty for the spies, except Ram. He calmly says, "If victory and defeat in a war depend on a spy's life or death, then valor and military skills are useless". Ram didn't just preach wisdom like the sages and saints. He practiced what he preached. He had to go through inordinate amount of trying circumstances in human form. Yet, never once did he cross his limits. And that is made him worship worthy.

Long story short, no human being can come close to becoming God. But by following some of the Lord's teachings, he can attempt to become a better human being.

@Shruthi: Good topic and a nice post. Ram's words were beautiful.

I didn't feel like commenting for more than a week because of the ongoing SKR track, but yesterday's one was quite exceptional. I feel SKR Sita should develop some original Sita's qualities. I don't mind asking questioning but the words and tones needs to be proper. In yesterday episode, it was fine.

Ram proved him why he was known as the maryada purush by his each and every word and actions. For those who think him as a human, he proved his position to be raised to god by his actions.

Note: My appreciation to the actor Ashish, for his brilliant performance in portraying the change of his mood.

@vipraja the example of earth and rivers was beautiful
@lady even if we apply 1% of what Ram says in our life, our life will be better
@Ramya SKR shows Ram for what he is. Each and every action of Ram is praise worthy. Agree to you. Ashish is simply sealing the role of Ram.

A great lesson from the one person who embodies all the qualities-Ram. And as Vishnu also he reaffirms it. Anyone irrespective of their gender, caste or creed are accepted into his fold lovingly if they surrender to him. Shabri, Guha, Sugreev,Ahalya, Jatayu,Prahalad,Vidur, Sudama{and the list is endless} are equal in his eyes. When you think about it all the Alwars in Vaishnavism belong to different strata of society...all that binds them together is their devotion to Vishnu. Meera's devotion to her lord is the highest summit a human can reach and the lord accepts her love wholeheartedly.

Nice post Shruthi...
it was actions of a great king Ram who lived an ideal and difficult path and it was his actions that gave him the Godly stature by Hindu society.

The line said by Ram in the episode about sindoor in forehead and as the women goes up, it's the husband that also goes up was so very beautiful. If today such approach is adopted, definitely the world will become a better place to live.

It's all about givin respect to each other. It's not always the mutual love but the mutual respect as well that has to be present in the relationship like that of Sriram and Sita ma. Once, one of my elder cousins visited our place from outstation. We both were discussin and chattin about relationships. He told that how his brother in law sometimes wen in anger slap his sister. I said. wat?? how come he can do that..he is so loving towards her as far as we all know. How can he slap her. He said '"so wat if he slapped. That was coz they both were havin some bitter argument abt sometihng. He loves her as well. He showers so much love as well no"'. I asked so how does it justify slapping? Does that mean woman is a thing and one can play with her as per mood. if u r happy, love her. If u are angry, slap her?? wat if she in the moment wud also have slapped him back !! it would have then become an insult for the man'.

Apart from other relationships, such as parents-children, teacher-student, etc. where one is definitely having more life experience than the other and a gap of whole generation is present, a husband-wife relationship is always on equality. Both man and woman has to respect each other's individuality just as wat Ram and Sita did in their times. if there is some superior/inferior angle, be it from any side, it will suffocate the sufferer unless he or she has made peace with the life situatn in one way or the other.
