Today I was debating whether to take Shanta-Sita or Mandordari's Amrit mission. Have decided to stick to the latter. Because the way Mandodari gets Amrit shows an important aspect of incorrect understanding of dharma by women.
How women themselves is responsible for the atrocities happening on them without even realizing their actions are helping men like Ravan.
Mandodari takes it as her Patni dharma to protect Ravan. What is Ravan doing. He is raping woman. He is forcefully marrying woman, he is terrorizing people, he takes even devas as prisoners and orders them. She is going to protect such a man in the name of patni dharm.
Now see how she reaches there. First her mother. Dear daughter I understand your patni dharm here take power to reach Chandralok, now in Chandralok Rohini, yes I know how a wife feels, takes her to Amrit kumbh. How will Amrit not come because the woman is devoted. Who is asking these 3 women to support Ravan.
This is how women in general behave. We have them in present society. They might be victims of domestic abuse, their husbands dont even regard them their equal or worthy of anything. But still they will support their husbands and the other woman will take pity on this victim woman and will support her in the mission save her husband who is good for nothing fellow.
If I need to give a much better example it is the TRP of serials. Wherever this so called victimized woman cry, calling out mere pati ki raksha karo, mere parivar ki raksha karo TRP will soar.
Wherever you see an independant woman, who is raising voice against injustice in her sasural, or questions her sasumma well people wont tolerate it. Because they love the victim woman who is protecting Ravan like men and Lanka like family. If that is not enough they will call such a doormat Sita also. No wonder many progessive woman of present day cannot relate to real Sita and her inner beauty.
A much better proof of this Pati ki raksha business was seen when I was watching EHT. When the leading lady was fighting for the justice of her sister who is a rape victim TRP was low. But the moment leading lady does a Karvachauth for her husband and goes to protect him in the court, pata nahi kahan se TRP aunty bagke chali aayi. The show became slot leader. Can you believe. Actually that was one of the reasons I loved EHT also. It exposed society's hypocrisies if you observed carefully. I didnt had any problems the leading lady wanting to save her husband because he was a man who loved her and had walked the hard path for her sake, to get her justice. But I am damn sure TRP aunty wouldnt have understood all this.
So as woman we cannot see or understand pain of another woman we protect this so called men. We cannot relate to woman who are fighting for a woman's cause. We cannot understand men who truly believe a woman should have her rights, her space.
Have we woman become idiots to the point we cannot differentiate between Ram and Ravan and we love to propagate Ravan even if indirectly . Question to ponder and I will stop now
