Thanks Ramya. It is because I have taken an unconventional approach I can understand anyone who has taken certain decisions not within the social norm as I feel they have the right as long as the choice does not negatively impact the concerned individual or society at large.

Nice post, Shruthi..!

Kaikeyi's perspective indeed mirrors that of most parents. They feel that they know best what is good for their child, particularly when it comes to marriage. And any effort by the child to find a partner of his/her own is viewed with suspicion and resentment.

It is indeed a very nice thing that the creatives are maybe extrapolating a bit from the original text but doing so to draw parallels with modern reality. Our texts are repositories of knowledge and offer guidelines for societal/ family interaction.

@Bertie if you look our epic Ramayana is about family and relations and Mahabharata is about politics and society as a whole.
So it is good to see how each episode addresses one aspect of the present relation problems in the society. Because even if a small change happens, it can usher in a big change with time.

Shruti, your post is to the point. When oarents try to rule their children's life if can go both ways. Either good or bad. The parents should try to find out where their children's happiness lies and then act accordingly. If the parents try to force something on them then it can disastrous. They can advice them to work on it or not lies in the children's hands.

Well said di , very true
I feel parents are not fully wrong of course they want the best for their children but should understand if their upbringing is good they won't choose the wrong person .
In today's time divorces are a trend , the gurgaon region is worst hit by this turmoil
We have ourselves researched on the matter in sociology , stories are shocking

@charvi since you are a sociology student of course you will deal with it. Kerala is not far behind Charvi. Being the most literate state, it tops in this department also.
@Hema dont worry. Even if you cant put a reply request you to put a like. I always look the likes to my original post and I feel happy when I see all my expected friends likes there 😃
