Just a side note though, since this thread is about Sita's abandonment. If they do explore Luv and Kush which I am hoping so much that they do in this show, could you all imagine how heartbreaking it is going to be to see Sita's abandonment and then the scene when she returns to the earth. 😲

Just picturing the depth of emotion Ashish will show in those scenes as Ram is making my heart sink. O_O

Some people say he made the decision as /a king/ but I think /the husband/ in him should have /guided/ the king in him in this situation.

This is just a open question one that had always t confuses me the most... people saying he made this decison as a king .. but how could that be ? leave sita if such a case had come to the court of rama would he have punished the innocent girl? Rama throughout ramayana has always shown to fight injustice was always guided by his conscienece .. does he not free sukriva's wife .. did he condemn her? isn't ramarajya all about bringing a change in the society and ram teh instrumental one here so how on a blue moon would suddenly go and do such a great injustice,... the mere touch of his leg frees ahaliya and also tataka from her curse ... its not even an inference or a symbolism that he isn't tainted by the common perceptions the society hold? ...

Mhmm yep. Some people like to say it was his duty as king as if to say it wasn't Ram per se making the decision but the king in him making the decision. But yeah, even the decision taken as a king is severely wrong which is why I don't use that as a justification either. I say the husband in him should have known better and guided the king in him. 😊

Hi, Sorry if I don't make much sense here. But as far as I can think Ram's abandoning order was neither as a King nor as an husband but as a Human being who understood and respected the mindset of another human being.
Even I was not convinced with the story of Ram ordering his beloved brother to abandon his Sister in law to the forest. And my fight with my elders who said it as Raj Dharma or Pati Dharma was like this
1. " If he acted as Raja, and to satisfy one praja how could he abandon his other praja? How can he punish a person without even seeking explanation from her side or without taking the advise of his courtiers and RajGuru? As a citizen of Ayodhya, she had the right stay and without giving her a chance understand what is happening to her and her unborn child, how can a king pass an order at mid night to throw a fully pregnant lady to the forest without any aid with her? Souldn't he have waited till she delivers in the safety of Ayodhya and then banished her? As a king, wasn't it his duty to provide safety to a pregnant lady? If he failed in that duty, how is he going to justify his action?"
2. " If he acted as a Pati, was his mind so insecure that he heard something bad about his wife and his trust in her evaporated to thin air? If he were so vulnerable and weak minded, what was the need to fight Ravan and bring her back? Why he had to make so many people (vanara sena) to die? If it was his love for her which made him to send her away to safe guard her self respect, why he could not wait till the morning and announced it in the court and let Sita decide her future? Did he not proved the Dobhi right by banishing his wife for ever? Or did it hit his Ego when that Dobhi said " I am not so weak like our king to accept a lady who was in some other man's custody? Did it hurt him so much that he didn't want to see her again and asked Lakshman to take her away then and there without even giving her time to bid good bye to her family? If he really liked and loved his wife, was he not supposed to accompany her to the forest and asked her stay away from him?? " etc.
As I grew I realized one thing that he did it as a human and neither bound by law or love. If he were acted as a king, he would have placed her in a separate place or Ayuralay and arranged her safe delivery and then announced her exile in his court and would have given the justification, why he is doing that and sent her away. If he was acting as an husband, he would have openly told her the reason fro her banishment and would have told his family (mothers) about the issue and sent her to maika. But he did this purely as a human, as a friend who knew the mindset of his other friend. Who knew how that fellow will take this abuse and how vulnerable that person will feel. he knew if the words reach Sita's ears, she will collapse and she will die out of shame. Even if she lived, it would have been a lifeless living. And he knew very well that it could be one voice today but many may start later and how can he avoid Sita from hearing those words that too when she was in her later stage of pregnancy? being in palace, she was more probable to hear the unpleasant things which may spoil her and her unborn child's health and mind set, which also may have adverse effect on the fetus. And if she stays in forest, that means one or the other Rishi will find her and will tend her and will take care of her health. There in a rishi ashram, she will have a better environment which is good for the child and in that serene atmosphere she will not think too much of her sadness, but will think about her to be born child and also she will understand the fact that her husband would have sent her away for a reason which shall not be shared by her. May be one day later in his life, he may get a chance to explain her about his strange behavior than expose her to the unpleasant experience in her tender stage.
