On why Mishti said that about Kunal :
I didn't find it a big deal at all. If my father left my mother for another woman while she was pregnant with me, I wouldn't call it anything but betrayal. Nothing will change that. Even if my mom found happiness again and might even call my biological father just a khoobsoorat padhav, I would forever keep in mind that my father had rejected me. It is a big deal for a child. If Kunal had never come back, Mishti would never bother. Fact is, he came back with another child of his own. Mishti was jealous and became a rebel to the extent she rejected the guy. It is the goodness in her that made her forgive Pari, even though it was no fault of Pari's.
The set of events pushed her further towards Ishaan who was already a substitute for her father. She was never attached to Kunal, so she never understood Mauli's dilemma. To her credit, at one point in time she felt so bad for Kunal and Pari that she was willing to be a part of Pari's and Dida's perfect family with Kunal. Her only concern then was that Popsie would feel left out. That shows how she was willing to sacrifice for the rest of the family, yet didn't want injustice for Ishaan. Mishti always had a strong sense of justice...We will have to see what will happen to that when she faces a dilemma in her love life.
According to the story so far, Mishti definitely respects Kunal. She had actually gotten used to having him around during the ML phase where he treated both the girls as equals. Once memory returned , obviously he was closer to Pari and Mishti was closer to Ishaan. She did not have a sibling complex anymore because her family was complete. Still, there is no way she is forgetting what happened to her mother. For that matter, even Pari wishes there are no complications in Mishti's life like there had been in Mauli Aunty's. Both the girls carry that complex equally.
Mishti is already emotionally labile with the impending wedding and her confused feelings. I find it quite natural she goes back to her parents' example quite often. If Maunal had a happy marriage , she would have quoted that. There is nothing unusual about what she said.
