I know Amrit is the lead character in this show and i waited to too long to see Ejo on TV again but this is too tragic. I don't think there is a character i hated more on tv than the one Ejaz is playing right now. And now i can't even hate him. I really wish they dont' show him as bad as he was in the other show. Subh Vivah must be a bit more positive..otherwise the show won't last long with so many better competition.
So onto my problem with Amrit.
I think I started watching the south indian show because of the way the story was realistic and not sugar coated. Each of the sisters have an individualistic character trait that sets them apart and they are not all perfect epitome of "bharatiya naari", instead they were all flawed in one way or other. Actually every single character in this show is that way, which is a good mirror of what we will see in the real world. In that way, it was a nice to see a lead character that didn't fit into prototypes and instead was a product of his situation and upbringing. There is so much potential for Amrit's character. He is ambitious. His mother makes him so... cuz they have seen really harsh days. She has worked hard for her kids and her elder son understands that and wants to give a better life to all of them.. and if it means going down the not-so-righteous path then so be it. He will lie, cheat and decieve...anything to see that his family is well taken care of (especially his mother). He sees nothing wrong with having a relationship with a married woman.. afterall they are both getting what each one wants from it. Even his mother is a silent support to this...as long as she is taken care of...but when the relationship starts to threathen her hold on her boy then she must intervene and get him married to a girl of her own choice.
Amrit's problem tho lies in the fact that he can never admit he is wrong. Even when any normal person would see clearly who is wrong and who is right, Amrit will boldly stand his ground and refuse to admit that he was wrong. And for that reason, he'll not change...every effort of Saroj to make him see reason will go in vain...until Amrit himself will give Saroj the importance she deserves in his life. And to be married to such a man... poor Saroj must have done something truly grave to have such a punishment.
