My issue with Amrit - Page 2

@Whitewitch: I watched the mallu version.. if you saw it you know how that dragged. For almost 2 years i think... thats finally when Amrit's character became somewhat decent.

I agree with everyone who thinks that its a challenge for Ejaaz to be playing Amrit... its so different from any leads on any show on Hindi television.. and yes this story will portray life as is.. no candyfloss. Marriage and its diffulties, especially remaining committed to a marriage even through the really tough and rough times is what this show is about. Usually other shows gloss over the problems by showing the mahaanta of their all-sacrificing leads. Here i think there is more layers to the characters and the situations they are in. They all try to do the best they can staying within the means they have. Even Saroj who is the closest charactrization to the all-sacrificing indian woman, has a breaking point where she stands for herself and her self-respect. For someone who has no expectations in life and is handed out the worst possible outcome, she figures out that if she wants anything in life...even the much elusive peace and drama-free life that she thought was such a simple thing to wish for, then she must stand up and fight for it.

I never watched Ejo as Arjun Punj. I can't say Kavya is my fav character but i loved Ejaaz in that show and i loved the chemistry between Kavya and Anjali. Wish there is some awesome chemistry between Amrit and Saroj... hope he sudharofies sooner than later... and hope that Saroj has more spunk in her than Ganga did in the mallu version.

I'm not sure if i should be glad i saw this before of after i just wrote a long post...but i totally agree with you..i'm hating amrit...but i have come to accept that's who is...he's a flawed man not because if innate baddness, but because of the circumstances of his life...he's seen his mom suffer and she's clearly made it known that money is something that will make life much easier and HAPPIER for all of them...and so the man is doing all in his power to fufill his mom's wishes...and though there are ppl in the real world that would go about doing this by say studying or working hard...there are most defintiely others who out of desperationg, laziness or simply ignorance that choose the past of least resistance...and it seems that that is what amrit has done...and unfortunately it is those that end up suffering the most...and it will def make for an interesting soap...if they keep with it and eventually transform him...i totally agree with you some of the best characters if have ever seen on tv are the ones that start out flawed/broken and transform into someone loyal, trusting and good...

but i soo agree with your feelings on saroj...the poor girl doesnt deserve what is coming her way...she is going to walk through hell because and i'm guessing eventually for this man...but its sad to see that her girlish dreams of finding a man to marry who will cherish her and love and support her unconditionally will not be so easily won...then again this is a show and it makes for great tv...plus it's clear that she is the one of the 5 that has the most patience and faith...she spent her entire childhood thinking she'd marry one man BECAUSE of a promise her father made, and yet when what she had known as the truth was instantly transformed because of her father she accepted...it is her utter faith in her father that will in my opinion be key for helping amrit transfrom she's going use that faith on him and show him his goodness...

exactly my feelings. I think I might have sympathized with Amrit's situations more if he wasn't pitted against the likes of Saroj. If it was another woman who was maybe a bit less deserving of happiness..then it would be easier to justify Amrit. But Saroj def has hell to walk through and for no fault of her own. When you have a pure soul like Amrit surrounded by dirt like Amrit's family... uff...Thats what makes it hard to accept Amrit's flaws. Its especially heart wrenching when she first finds out the habits of her husband and when her heart shatters so does ours. Its going to be hard to sit through that again. But more than faith...it is her dedication to make the best out of any situation that will get her through this. She does reach a point where everything seems lost in terms of Amrit but she holds on because of her father... she couldn't let him know what a disaster he pushed her into. That takes courage and a will power in front of which Amrit will bend his knees.
