Hi Sharadha,Adhura Sapna
Hi Bhoomi,
Only yesterday I was watching Dance India Dance. In that one participant, I think the name was Kunwar, had the same story. He and his partner danced wonderfully yesterday. He had been dancing since childhood but his father who is in the "Police Force" didn't like it and always scolded him for it. The father himself admitted it on the show that today, with tears in his eyes, that he was very proud of his son's achievements and was ashamed for not having encouraged him earlier. This boy was lucky that he got to perform on such a platform and his efforts did not go waste unlike the protagonist of your poem.Today I think in cities like Mumbai at least parents encourage children in other fields besides education. In our times dance was considered to be something that people from good families did not take up.I was very fond of Bharat Natyam but couldn't learn it. But I fulfilled all my dreams of dancing, by getting my daughters trained in Bharat natyam.Love, tc ssh57
