Shaurya is taking out all his frustrations not just since the admission process but also for the fact that again he was proved wrong in the case of Anokhi. Is it possible that he may be wrong with respect to Aastha also? An element of doubt could have been raised and he wants to remove that by ensuring no connection at all with aastha by either cutting all ties with his father or having his father cut all ties. He is really innocent in thinking that doing this will change anything, Devi will never allow him to forget that his mother left him.

I could not stop crying, this is how a mother feels. On top of that the song was too emotional...

You are absolutely right!...removing aastha will not solve anything but that poor boy does not understand that in his rage. And yes! half his pain comes from the fact that devi keeps reminding him of his abandonment. For someone who says she loves shaurya, she causes him way too much pain.

Yes, that scene gave me goosebumps too. Just too much :(...like all she remembers are their happy memories and that is how much they mean to her irrespective of everything.

This was a very high intensity drama. Let us start with Devi, who is questioning Shaan on why he has not divorced his wife. What business is it to her? Who is she to decide what type of marriage life Shaan should be having? It is incredible how an issue of a phone call was transformed into Shaan's and Aastha's marriage! All of this because Shaurya could not take the fact he was wrong about Anokhi. Now to Shaurya..

Agree he has been neglected as a child by both his mother and father, but as a young man, he has no right to dictate to his father about the latter's marriage life, life partner or any partner whatsoever. He wants his father to divorce Aastha because she is selfish, loves only herself. If I were Shaan I would tell Shaurya, who do you think she is living with all these years? Her parents do not count for you?

Ok, Aastha is not a saint, but why is Shaurya saying that she should not be meddling in their life. He is contradicting himself because Aastha has not put back her foot in SM. Shaurya is correctly saying she is not my mother, as indeed Aastha lost that right the day she left all her responsibility to Devi, but Shaan's persistence in saying aastha is his mother enrages Shaurya further and no need to say how Devi further pour in her venom by questioning Shaan on what Aastha has done for Shaurya.

Shaurya has reached a point where he prefer to be dead than to be called aastha's son. Is Devi enjoying this? Is this what a mother hopes for? Devi is devil incarnate in this serial.

The most impacting part was when aastha was falling and remembering those dearest to her: her son and husband. I felt very bad for her and that song by yesudas:

The lyrics were changed from

Sacha Koyi Sapna Deja Mujhko Koyi Apna Deja

to Achaa koyi Sapna hota Mera koyi apna hota

but the feeling of asking for a nice dream and someone of her own when she felt she would be sleeping for ever was heartbreaking...

I feel so bad for Astha. Why Shan didn't try to explain Shaurya that Astha didn't have any choice. I think Anokhi made him realised or at least think why she is living alone for so many years away from her husband and son.

I find these episodes realistic because I have met someone who lived just like Astha. In her case it was her in laws in place of Devi.

The fact thatx it was very close to reality, fast paced and not ott enough was the reason it did not garner trps, unfortunately. The current trp system is flawed.

This episode was the story of Shaan, Aastha, and Shaurya Sabherwal and how broken that small family was.

So many demands were being made of Shaan.....to why he hasn't divorced his wife? if he loves his wife? if he would choose his wife or his son? Shaan is so weak that he can't defend Aastha properly or answer his son's taunts. Shaurya's not wrong to point out that after Aastha left, Shaan didn't care about his kid, their parivaar, or even himself. It was all over the love of a woman. That statement made me laugh hard because this is the Shaurya that doesn't know the meaning of love and he's about to go full Majnu after he falls in love! Oh how the mighty will fall!

Alok, Devi, and Tej don't help the matter. They're into adding fuel to this roaring bonfire. They also make nonsensical arguments about Aastha taking advantage of the Sabherwal name. Aastha stays in Kapurthala and doesn't even concern herself with Chandigarh matters. Shaurya saw her in Gurdaspur and went to her in Kapurthala. She only came to Chandigarh for Anokhi. At no point has she made an attempt to reconcile with Shaurya.........which is probably what is hurting Shaurya the most!

Shaurya is no longer a 4 year old abandoned by his mother and neglected by his father. He seems to think he can tell right from wrong. But unfortunately he's so brainwashed by Devi that he's blinded by his hate. I can't believe a grown man put an ultimatum in front of his father to choose between his wife or his son. That sort of emotional blackmail cannot stand. KV and Khalid did such a fantastic job! When Shaurya screamed "Woh aurat meri ma nahi hai.......I hate that woman", you could feel all the bitterness in his heart. Shaurya was a man possessed by his hatred.

I love the choice of storytelling, to have the Shaan/Shaurya confrontation interwoven with the Aastha scenes. Everything was shot so well that you could feel how ominous it was. And as Aastha was shot, there was a quietness then the thunder/lightning at Anokhi's. And then they play "sacha koyi sapna hota, mera koyi apna hota, anjana sa, magar kuch pehchana sa, halka phulka shabnami, resham se bhi reshmi, surmayi ankhiyon me, nanha munna ek sapna de ja re, nindiya ke udte paakhi re, ankhiyo me aaja sathi re, ra ri rum o ra ri rum, ra ri rum o ra ri rum" as Aastha falls and remember her small happy family. 😭

Side notes:

~ I'm glad Gayatri got the twins truth out.......but I hate that they'll never get punished!

~ Raja's truth never came out to anyone of consequence........and he was also never punished for it. SAAKK had a streak of never punishing culprits.

Shaurya how petty and mean was that to give an ultimatum? It was more like a child seeking attention. Agreed that Shaan’s neglect towards Shaurya made him hate his mother but How does a divorce change anything in Shaan Astha case? Divorcing doesn’t guarantee a person stop supporting or communication with his/ her ex. Bm’s allegation that Astha uses Sabherwal’s surname is baseless. There hasn’t been an incident where it was shown so. Atleast as an audience it doesn’t convince me. Yes her allegation definitely adds to Shaurya’s hatred. Everyone except Gayatri was hell bent to convince that it is in everyone’s best interest for Shaan to divorce Astha.

My heart bleeds with pain every time I see this episode. It looked as if all the hate that Ss spewed were like imprecations to Astha. And intercutting the scenes made it more impactful.

Whenever Shaan speaks he just stops himself from saying anything more than that Astha is his mother and he should respect and she cares for Shaurya. Still can’t comprehend why he doesn’t discuss as to what actually happened with Shaurya now that he is a grown up and might be in a position to understand better.

How mockingly mr Bhalla took Anokhi’s name as an able great daughter. Liked how Rama reverted back instead of keeping quiet.

When Astha was shot and fell on a mound of earth it was as if she was lying on a pyre and it got me scared for a moment thinking what if? All happy memories of family kept reeling in leaving the whole scene more depressing.

The moment of truth at last when Gayatri reveals the real culprits. Admire Gayatri that she neither trusts them blindly like BM nor she supports them in their wrong doings.

@bold: That's such a great way to state it. Shaurya's angry words were curses he pointed at himself, but it landed on his mother first. He wished he wasn't born from her or that he had died after birth. It was like Aastha took those curses on herself as not to hurt her child. There's something poetic in that.

Everything else......agree a 100%!

Yes! She became unimportant after the divorce. She gets to have some dialogues for when Aastha was in the hospital and when she visited, but after using it as a plot device to get the Shastha divorce, Gayatri became a wallflower.

The most OTT and yet impactful episode of the series in my opinion was this one! No wonder the TRP aunties loved this track 🤣

The storm throughout the episode was an indication of how this night will change everything for the sbas, shakhi and shahastha. It was alaos the foreshadowing of the ominous events to follow (Also, very OTT ek types was the storm, but i'll take it)

The rage that was pent up in Shaurya since the day he saw his mother again and then saw his parents together in the library comes out in one go! The words were extremely harsh but true and shaan could not even defend himself. What he said about aastha was what he was fed but my question is why could shaan not tell shaurya that he never divorced aastha in 25 years because they love each other. Shaurya most probably would not understand, he is alien to the concept of how love actually works.

As opposed to how shaurya says that he is not 4 and does know wrong from right, he is still exactly 4. His hurt heart is evidently stuck there and hence i feel, his need to blackmail his father into making a choice is more revenge than attention. I say this because we know Shaurya is capable of this. His anger is justified but his ask for a divorce is NOT.Finally Shaan's patience gives in, he has no grounds to stand on but still and it almost escalated to a physical fight...all because he saw his parents talk a couple of night ago about ragging incident.

Aastha is a smart woman who sensed danger too soon. In one way she protected a son from shooting his mother but the entire scene was just so sad. This lady who always got only hate from her son and nothing from her husband remembered them when she was fighting for her life. Love is a strange emotion is it not. The music and the memories in B&W made the scene extremely impactful. This is the only episode where i loved the intercutting of the scenes.

Raja ran, he was shocked at the fact that he actually did it but i dont think there was any remorse.

All this escalation of issues for Gayatri to solve it logically and very quickly. She is such an underrated character.

Side note 1 : Loved the acting in this episode again. I love it when KV cries as Shaurya. The harsh emotions with tears dripping out without control. DAMN!

Side note 2: Though the saberwals pretend to care about a family, all i could see was them trying to create more rift between shaan and shaurya. I understanding hating aastha but why does tej not try and bridge this rift. Does he not love his "parivaar". (Devi and alok have agendas here and hence i understand them adding ghee to the aag but Tej?)

I wasn't paying attention to the TRPs in February......I didn't realize the TRP aunties loved this track! I don't know if I would have loved the show if it had continued being this dramatic. I'm glad it was only specific episodes that got this level of dramatics.

Shaurya's words were harsh, but Shaan's inability to defend himself or Aastha against it(even after 25 years) gave us an insight into how weak Shaan really is.

Yo, KV was amazing. I felt like Shaurya was possessed by his hatred and KV was possessed by Shaurya's spirit. He was quaking with anger as the lines were delivered about Shaurya hating Aastha. So believable. And then the red eyes that were holding anger and sadness that just breaks your heart.

Shaurya has every right to his anger. And when he's angry, he is hurtful to everyone even himself. His anger is so directionless that he's willing to not exist to make his point. It also gave us a glimpse into the depth of his bitterness. He hates his loveless existence so much that he'd rather be dead than Aastha's son. It's sad that even after all this, Devi continued to claim that she loved her son. I hate that she was forgiven for all this as everything was white washed over.

The lyrics were not actually changed. They used the sad version of the song. Such appropriate and effective lyrics. Props to whoever works for DJs and was in charge of music. This was when the show had great music choice, cinematography and editing. The trifecta. I'm not sure what and when the change occurred.

I loved this scene. Well acted with good dialogues.
Shaurya was so convinced that it was Dad who called the media. Shaan’s dialogues are always laced with logic/ reasoning/ kindness , while Shaurya’s have a the same too , but with a lot of bitterness and resentment.

Yes! This is how to make a scene dramatic enough without being overly dramatic. Love the “Surmayi Akhiyon mein” song! Yesudasji’s voice.. what a blessing !😇😍

🤦🏻‍♀️😭🤷‍♀️ Looking forward to Raja aur Jail ki Kahaani
In S2! 😁

I can never watch Sadma again. I watched it as a kid and even now I can't listen to the songs. It too sad.

Season 2 has so much to cover at this point that it would take a retelling to do justice to all the gaps and loose ends.
