These words were echoing in his ears..

Rajat was shattered..

Veer was getting impatient to get a glimpse of his dreamgirl,his beautiful bride Anu.

Alka teased him,

"Baas thori der intezar kar lijiye Veer!

Kuch der mein apki dulhan aa jayegi.."

Veer smiled coyly.

Shastriji was busy welcoming the guests.

Alka,Devyani and Peeya were attending the guests too.

The guests were having a good time - chit-chatting,relishing the delicacies .

There was merriment all around..

But destiny had some other plans...

The crackers that were being bursted outside,one of them,a rocket,instead of going vertically upwards, zoomed in a slightly angular trajectory and landed up on the tent that was being set by the side of the marriage hall.

And the tent caught fire...

The marriage hall was beautifully decorated with lights,flowers,and fabrics.

It caught fire and spread rapidly.

Within a few moments the atmosphere of festivity turned into melancholy.

The guests started panicking and leaving the hall promptly.

There was chaos and confusion all around...

Rajat held Anu by her shoulders and yelled,

"Yeh tumne kya kiya Anu?

Yeh tumne kyun Kiya?"

His frustration was reverberating in his words..

Anu stood silent,her gaze lowered..

This silence was defeaning..

Rajat shook her,holding her by her shoulders and howled in agony,

"Chup maat raho Anu..

Bolo..

Yeh tumne kyun kiya?"

Anu pushed his hands off her shoulders and turned her back towards him.

She then said softly,

"Hum aur kya karte Rajat?"

"Kya matlab?"
Rajat frowned.

He turned her to face him and looked at her with pain and anguish in his eyes..

"Aaj humari shaadi hain,Veer ke saath," Anu said,putting stress on the last three words..

Rajat lowered his gaze and murmured,

"Yaad dilane ki zaroorat nehi hain,Anu..

Kabse yehi baaat toh bhulne ki koshish kar raha hoon..",He sighed..

"Aur agar humari shaadi Veer se ho jaati,

toh woh toh humpe apna pati hone ka haq jatate nah?" Anu continued..

Rajat looked at her in disbelief..

"Par hum yeh haq kisi aur ko kaise dein dete Rajat?"She said looking into his eyes..

"Yeh haq toh sirf apka hain nah?

Is liye..."

Rajat was falling short of words...

He came closer to Anu and held her by her arms..

"Par Anu?

Itna bara kadam.." he gulped the lump that was formed in his throat.

"Itna bara kadam uthane se pehle tumne ek baar bhi mere barein mein nehi socha ,Anu?

Yeh nehi socha ki agar tumhe kuch ho jayega,toh mera kya hoga?

Kaise jeeunga main,Anu?" there was so much pain in his voice..

"Haan main manta hoon..

Tumhe kisi aur ka hote hue dekhke main har pal hazaar maut marta..

Lekin agar tumhe kuch ho jata,toh main jee nehi paata Anu..

Jeete jee mar jaata main.." he said leaning on her,touching his forehead on hers..

Rajat paused for a moment and pulled back..

"Achcha meri baat chhoro" he sighed..

"Tumne yeh kadam uthane se pehle ek baar bhi apne papa ke bare mein nehi socha?

Tum toh unse sabse ziada pyaar karti ho nah?

Yeh nehi socha ki agar tumhe kuch ho jayega toh unka kya hoga?

Unke izzat ke bare mein bhi nehi socha,Anu?

Yeh nehi socha ki,agar tum apne shadi wale din aisa kuch karogi,toh log kaisi kaisi baatein karenge?"

He looked straight into her eyes..

Anu walked away from him and said,

"Socha nah,Rajat.

Humne bohat socha..

Ab tak toh hum apne papa ke bare mein,unki khushi ke bare mein,unki izzat ke bare mein,Alka didi ke bare mein,Devyani ke bare mein,Peeya ke bare mein,apne parivaar ke bare mein socke hi jeete aye hain.Rajat.." she said in a breath..

"Par in sab ke beech mein humara kya,Rajat?" she looked at him with pain in her eyes..

"Humare pyaar ka kya?

Humare dil ka kya,Rajat?

Uss dil ka,jo sirf aapke liye dharakta hain?

Jis mein sirf aap baste ho..

Jis mein kisi Veer weer ke liye koi jagah nehi hain,aur naa hi kabhi hoga.

Uss dil ka kya Rajat?"

Rajat looked deep into her eyes and he could feel her pain,her anguish,her torment...

"Humne bohat koshish ki hum aapko bhul jaye,sab kuch bhul jaye..

Par hum jitna hi aapko bhulne ki koshish karte,utna hi ziada aapse pyaar karne lagte Rajat..

Hum apne dil ke aage haar gaye Rajat,hum haar gaye..." her voice was choking..

Rajat cupped her face and wiped her tears with his thumbs..

"Par Anu...

Meri Anu toh itni kamzor nehi hain,jo aise apni jaan dene ke bare mein soche..

Meri Anu toh,woh hain,jo apni Alka didi ko bachane ke liye akele hi Rajeev se laad jati thi..

Aur Anu humara pyaar itna kamzor nehi hain,ki tumhe aisa kadam uthana pare." He said in a stern voice..

"Hum larenge Anu..

Hum dono, saath mein, sab se ladenge,apne pyaar ke liye.."

Anu pushed his hands off her,and said in a low tone,

"Thak chuke hain hum Rajat.

Thak chuke hain hum ladte ladte.."

"Maa ke guzar jaane ke baad humne humare papa ko,humare behno ko,humare parivar ko samhala hain..

Pyaar,mohabbat ,in sab ke liye humari zindagi mein koi jagah nehi thi..

Humne humashe apne parivar ke bare mein hi socha hain..

Magar phir aap humari zindagi mein aye..

Aur humein yeh ehsaas dilaya ki humein bhi pyaar karne ka haq hain..

Apne humein pyaar karna sikhaya,Rajat..

Aur humne ek aisa swapna dekh liya,jiske bare mein humne kabhi socha bhi nehi tha..

Par humne shayad unn khushiyo ko pane ke bare mein soch liya,jo humari kismat mein thi hi nehi.."

"Anu".

"Aur aap kis ladai ki baat kar rahe hain Rajat?

Iss ladai mein toh dono taraf humari hi haar hain..

Nah hum papa ko diya hua kasam tod sakte hain,aur nah hi shadi ke waqt apke saath liye hue woh saat kasme tod sakte hain..

Nah hi hum papa ki khilaf jaa sakte hain,aur nah hi hum apke bina reh sakte hain Rajat.." her voice was crackling due to emotions..

"Par Anu,apni jaan de dena toh kisi mushkil ka haal nehi hota hain nah..

Yeh kadam toh kamzor log uthate hain.."

Anu looked straight into his eyes and said,

Hum jee ke kya karenge Rajat?

Apke bina humari zindagi,zindagi nehi hain..

Bohat pyar karte hain hum aapse.

I love you,Rajat.."

Rajat bridged the gap between them,he cupped her face and said,

"I love you too Anu..

Aur main tumhe kuch nehi hone dunga..

Rajat apne Anu ko kuch nehi hone dega..

Chalo Anu" He pulled her by her hands..

Rajat and Anushka,Anushka and Rajat - The Soulmates..

There was a whole lot of commotion and hullabaloo going on outside,,

Guests were trying to escape the burning wedding hall..

Everyone were running for their dear lives..

Shastriji sat down on the floor,with his hands on his head..

Peeya and Devyani were terrified and were crying out Anu and Alka's names..

Veer was shouting,

"Koi meri Anu ko bachao..

Anu andar reh gayi hain.."
But he didn't try to get inside the hall to rescue Anu,himself..

Rohan noticed that Alka was nowhere to be seen in the crowd,and he started yelling at once,

"Koi Alkaji ko bachaiye..

Woh andar phaas gayi hain.."

Even he didn't make any attempt to rescue "His Alkaji"..

Until now Rajat and Anushka were submerged in an ocean of emotions,they were inundated by their unspoken words,their love and their pain ,they were so much engrossed into each other that didn't even realize,what was going around them..

But now that they came back to reality,reality hit them hard..

They found themselves engulfed by fire..

A terrified Anu,clutched on to Rajat's arm..

"Rajatt!",her voice resonated her fright and her eyes reflected her consternation...

Rajat looked at her reassuringly.

He kept his hand over hers and pressed it gently and said,

"Daro maat Anu..

Main hoon tumhare saath..

Tumhe kuch nehi hoga..

Main tumhe kuch nehi hone dunga.."
