The Colours of Love

Part 3

Rajat Sareen was driving back home from his Air-Force base. The past two days just fleeted away like a dream. He just couldn't concentrate on his job. He was just too excited to go back and meet his sweetheart, Anushka. Somehow, she hadn't been responding to him, since their engagement was fixed upon. He had been calling her up desperately, but there was no answer from her side. She hadn't returned his calls even once. He knew that she was an introvert, and it would take some time for her to open up to him...but he couldn't deny to himself, that he was disappointed by her strange behaviour. Somewhere at the back of his mind, he panicked thinking that "What if she was being forced into this marriage? What if she did not love him? What if she was upset and unhappy?"...and the worst of the lot "What if she already had someone in her life?" After all she never actually displayed or professed her love for him. These questions were a bit too much for him to handle. The thought of Anushka loving or caring for someone else may him uneasy and uncomfortable. He was possessive about her. But maybe he was thinking a bit too much...it was time to sit back and relax.

His colour of love was orange...bright like the rising sun and spontaneous

Minty Sareen had made sure that Rajat would arrive on the day of his engagement. She knew Anushka very well and was sure that she would never call up Rajat for any sort of clarifications. She kept Mr. Sareen busy, so that he had no time to interact with Rajat. Only person she was scared of was Devyani...that fathead might just call up Rajat and blurt out the truth of the engagement. But this was a risk she had to take and so far it had paid off well. She had to protect her son.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw his car coming to a halt. He desperately tried to call her out, but was shoved away by his mother inside the house. The engagement preparations were going on, in full swing and she had no time to spare. After all her sweet little sister was getting engaged to the love of her life. Anushka was happy about that, but a strange unexplained melancholy was taking over her and she had to cover it up with her smile. She went to the backyard of the house to keep the flower basket, as she turned around she saw him standing. She felt weak on her knees, but kept her feet steady. He greeted her formally, and was about to ask her something, when Devyani called her out. She stared at Rajat coldly and asked him to excuse her, leaving that man confused. She ran inside the house. She couldn't face Rajat for long, her emotions would give way and everything would be in a mess.

Her colour of love would remain black forever...it seemed.

Rajat stood there like a marble statue. Her eyes did not reveal the warmth as before. They were cold and red. They seemed to be devoid of any emotions. What was that? He was getting restless. He has to find out. Was Anushka unhappy with the proceedings? He felt a strange fear overtake him...the fear of losing his love. He had never felt scared even during his Air-Force missions...but today he was scared...scared about the blank look in her eyes.

He had to find out what was happening. He made up his mind quickly that he had to speak to her sister Devyani, to find out what the matter was. She was close to her and would never hide her true feelings from her. He went searching for Devyani.

sad to see anushka undergoing so much pain...
feel like wringing minty's neck
is her status and prestige more important than her son's happiness..playing with so many people's lives...i wonder what dreadful repercussions are going to arise out of this😕
i hope this entire MU gets cleared before this engagement day...but cant help being scared for anuraj...
