Ok so i am making a separate post here to clear the confusion on the different terms such as eunuch, intersex, transgender, transsexual as simply as i can.
Transgender: Ok so starting off with the term transgender as that is what the production house are trying to claim saumya as and i will tell you why she is not a transgender. Basically sex refers to the biological status male or female we are all assigned at birth, whereas as the terms gender refers to the societal concept of masculine and feminine, which are terms created on the belief of society that male and females should follow a certain set of characteristics that make them appear to be male and female, so society believes men should be masculine and women should act feminine. However a person may grow up to figure out that they do not feel they conform to societies notions of what a male or famale should be as a man may feel he is less masculine and may feel more feminine, so may decide to fully adopt the life of a female, and this is where the term transsexual comes in. P.S. A transgender may not necessarily identify themselves with a specific sexual orientation so people saying transgenders like people of the same sex are inaccurate.
Transsexual: A transsexual is basically a transgender who wants to fully embrace the gender they feel on the inside and this would involve a sex change through major surgery to fully become a male or female so they can fully embrace their feminine or masculine characteristics whilst looking on the outside the way they feel on the inside.
Eunuch: I am just going to copy and paste what i wrote on another post for this...I have done a lot of research into the different terms such as eunuch, transgender, transexual and intersex, and an eunuch is a man by birth who has had their male organism cut off (this is called castration).
If you remember jodha akbar serial where they had people called khwaaja sheras (don't really know the correct spelling) they were eunuch's as these kind of people are actually men by birth but had their male organism cut off in a very early age perhaps due to some reason like to make them into soldiers to serve and protect women and made to live like a woman and they were used to guard the female living quarters.
Intersex: It is with this term that the sexual organs come into play as someone who is intersex would have genitals or sexual organs that do not fit in with the typical binary notions of male or famale bodies, such as a male with female organs or vice versa.
It is for this reason that i say that soumya is an intersex and not an eunuch or transgender. I hope i have cleared most of the confusion on the terminologies.
