Hehe! Good response Bewafa!😃

I always ask these people if you know it all, then why the hell do you let it happen? Why do you advertise in matrimonials outlining all specifications such as caste, sub-caste, complexion etc.? Why do you treat the disabled either with sympathy, ignorance or disdain?

The woman who spat at Nisha in a mall (shown in episode of disability in SJ) was also one of your co-called educated and aware people! How come all her education and expert knowledge from reading newspapers did not put any basic sense in her and did not make her think before spitting on a disabled child?😡

No celebrity or government can do anything about the issues. Its in the mind of the people. If they don't want to change themselves they really can't.

Tell me one thing you did after watching the show (except for feeling pity over these ppl). Did you go out and try to make a small change in the society. Did you point out of any family that was treating their daughters badly? Did you report that incident to the authorities? If you heard about someone having child sex determined ... did you report abt it. The maid that comes to your house to do the cleaning, did you try to find out what her kids do. Can you educate them?

The change needs to come from within the people. No matter how much the authorities try, ppl always find ways to go around it.

BTW i said this is 'nothing new' which means still already existing and going on and still nth has been done about it and I don't think our government would change their laws and constitutions just based on one show

feel terribly sorry for your comments ... you require shows like this to educate yourself. THese are very common problems that most of adult Indians know about. Aamir is only repeating what has been repeated zillion of times. There were shows before like the one hosted by Smirti Irani that highlighted such topics and had a panel of people to talk about (seems like you missed it since it wasn't hosted by a celebrity.) There's aapki adalat that talks about your legal rights (which many of the people aren't aware of)

You mean to say there's no one who know who has faced any of the problems mentioned by SMJ? Not one abortion case you have heard of. Not even a single family you have come across that pay more attention to their sons then daughters. Not one medical negligence case ... where due to some stupidity by the doc the person had to suffer more.

Sorry to say if you haven't then you live in a DREAM world.

🤪 🤣

We said we required this show to educate ourselves?🐷

Aap Ki Adalat is hosted by Rajat Sharma Mr/Ms Knowledgeable. And it interviews celebs and politicians on gossip. I never knew it was about legal rights. 🤡

Darling first think why such shows are repeated a zillion times! 😆

It is not about Aamir or anyone else. It is the problem with PEOPLE. It's us who ought to be ashamed for our laxity, lack of action and not using our sense.

I or Bewafa never said we learnt things from this show only. You are deducing it thus!

We are pointing towards people's mindset - which was something we knew of, and which is something that has come out more clearly in responses to SJ.

We don't live in a dream world my dear.

People who keep dismissing others and never check themselves or try to make a change in their own conduct are ones who live in dream world in which they think ''WE ALREADY KNOW THIS''. 😃

When did I say no one knew such things before? Sorry, you didn't get the point I was discussing in the topic. Look beyond assumptions.

Hanji, these issues exist. We all agree? Yes

Hanji, these issues are reported in the newspapers and have happened to people we know. We all agree? Yes

So...if we are all aware...why are we not doing anything to prevent them? Why is dowry such a big thing? Why is killing that girl still going on? Why is all this going on?

All SJ is doing is that it is highlighting (once more...in addition to the stuff we already have) these issues...urging us to try and do something about it. It is just one of the many attempts made by some people to get the people of India to wake up and notice.

As I said before, we cannot possibly concentrate on new issues without resolving the old issues.

*edited to include*

You mentioned how the government won't change something because of a show...well I would like to refer you to the bill about child abuse...but let's put that aside...

We are not saying this show is the END ALL...this show is yet another attempt to try and bring some sort of change. If you can at least change your own views...you can influence your family and bring change for the better for your family...this is called progress...now imaging if everyone started doing that...

Also...the Government's legitimacy comes from its people..it is not separate to its citizens.

and you think after watching SMJ she will stop doing it? People like those don't even watch it.

I have battled most of things on my own that's how I know these things exist. I married out of my caste and to tell you I had the cheapest wedding of all in the family. Not becoz I am not rich but becoz I don't like spending on unnecessary things.

I'm head strong when i see things like these happening I do point out but again like I said ONLY ONE PERSON can't do everything and ppl have to change from within. Which won't happen even after watching this show.

@locopoco ji

That is what I am saying! Social change does not happen only because of laxity of PEOPLE!

People busy bashing the show or demanding the makers of show to do more things or ignoring issues and choosing to stick to their dogma. But no action on their part!

You tell me what did you do?

Did you even re-think your own notions?

I am not saying shows like SJ can bring social change. I precisely said responses to SJ show why social change does not happen.

The problem is with people only!

Now your reply makes more sense. That's what I wanted to know ... if its trying to wake ppl up ... I support it but ppl here think he's making a difference which he is in NO way doing it. Like I mentioned before it has to come from within the ppl. They have to feel it and work towards improving it.

Yes, so you did that...which means you will teach these values to your kids too...you will raise these issues with other people too...and things will change.

Change tends to be gradual...but once it starts...it can gain momentum...even if you influence one person...it is better than not influencing anyone at all

@locopoco

What you are saying is true and who is to be blamed for this? US, We The People who either know it all, or ''know better'' or choose to not know at all. 😆

This is what I set out to discuss in the first two posts of this topic!

Now SJ's episode on DV was joked about or dismissed as non issue ''because it's no big deal for a man to hit his wife''. This shows how pathetic our mindset is!

Or limiting it all to bashing or supporting but never taking a hard look at our own actions or thoughts in our own lives.

I am discussing problem with people only.

Of course, change HAS to come from within. If we just passively watch it...it will do nothing.

People say that he is making a difference is because well...many people have changed their perspectives due to this show...some people are glad that he is trying to make people think about their actions...sometimes when you read things in a newspaper...you don't get involved in it as much...maybe using TV can change at least someone.

Besides SJ isn't all about Aamir Khan...but since he is a known face...people seem to focus only on the host
