OVERALL:
- Appalling to see journalists trying to bully Aamir Khan and discourage every celeb from what they think constitutes ''wading into their territory''. ''Me me mentality''. Means social issues are not important, ''we were the first ones to do it'' is important!
- Worst to see men dismissing all women's issues as non issues or ''not national issues'' and terming every women related episode as ''exaggerated''.😔
- Many women also didn't bother for episodes on issues like dowry. Only those who bore brunt of it, warmed up to that episode. The other so-called high class ones called it a bore (maybe because they consider taking higher amount of dowry with them as a sign of ''high class'').😒
- Indians once again show how they can't get their religious fanaticism out of their mind, can't judge anything without the religion glasses. Every episode is judged on what ''Muslim'' Aamir Khan is doing to other religions. Every time people with handles like ''Internet Hindu'' spend days tweeting against Aamir Khan and each episode. Oddly, Aamir even got insulted by Muslims for trying to ''defame'' their community by showing a Muslim victim in first episode of Satyamev Jayate! 👎🏼
- Viewership and even trending of Satyamev Jayate online kind of decreased from last week of June onwards. I think people have now begun to watch its repeats or on Youtube. Many do not watch it at original time of telecast now I guess. Satyamev Jayate doesn't take over Twitter and Google trends like it used to, in last two months. Its impact is great till date. But looks like people are not making it a priority, just catch it sometime later.
In my family, I notice only my mom and I take interest in this show. Dad and brother don't care anymore. Dad sometimes watches its repeat telecast. My uncle watches it religiously every Sunday, but never donates to NGOs featured on it (he's got means to donate, but somehow does not shell out for this!).
- Social activists are playing this ''me me'' game, by accusing Aamir of stealing their limelight. No wonder we have them writing articles calling SJ a poor effort, even though panelists from India's best institutions (IIT, NIMHANS etc.) and award winning NGOs are featured on the show. Is this how social change is done? By fighting for limelight and running down a good effort?🤢
- Too many skeptics we have. They do nothing except bashing government, media, activists and shows like SJ day in, night out and suspecting a conspiracy behind everything. Thanks to such people, IMO, no change is accomplished in our country. They will neither do anything themselves, nor let anyone else do anything.
- Maybe movie stars endorsing causes is a double edged sword, because some people can clearly not judge beyond fan/hater mentality. Bash SJ and even call all issues, as non issues because they are fans of Aamir's rivals.
- Overwhelming majority wants to live in a cocoon and dislikes SJ and Aamir for ''ruining'' their Sundays or giving ''gyan'' or opening textbooks on TV. Shamelessly they go on writing how they were asleep on Sunday or switching over to some music channel ''not giving a damn'' to show like SJ!🐷
- Whether we admit or not, many issues continue to remain unsolved because we consider them normal in name of culture/religion. Or think ours is still better while some other religion is worse! 🤪
- Amount of donations generated by SJ could have been way more had people sent SMSes or even cheques for donations than spending all time tweeting or SMSing jokes about it. The donations also show how we are ready to talk, but not ready to come forward and do our bit when needed. We will dissect what AK does or not. But won't do a thing ourselves.
- So-called educated people have intense ego on account of their qualifications and they wish to be only respected. They consider all issues associated with them as non issues. And bash not only Aamir Khan but even those who are not from their field. In case of doctors, the protesting doctors even labelled Dr. Devi Shetty a fake. No you know why nothing changes in India.🤡
- Going by articles and everything else, seems we Indians mostly have pessimistic or indifferent attitude towards issues and anything aimed at highlighting or correcting social problems. There is little or no action. Only argument or bashing. We also do not have the maturity to separate a person's religion and celebrity status from his work.
- We also have no respect for a good thing being done in our own country. While media in UK, USA, Australia and even Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal have appreciated Satyamev Jayate and expressed famous people in their country could unite and do something like Aamir Khan did for Satyamev Jayate - here we Indians are busy bashing the show and trying to prove it a flop (likes of Shobhaa De have written 2 articles against SJ without even watching the show).
- We don't think we as citizens have anything to do in case of social issues. We mostly attribute problems to someone else or link it with politics or shrug it all thinking it's not our job to solve anything, or that issues are textbook stuff for us. Nothing more.
- Some people expect only others to do everything. Even those who are supporting SJ and Aamir, keep writing to them to take up X, Y, Z topic or do ''more'' on a certain issue. Instead of devising ways on their own to take action!
- Lastly, people are TOO quick to judge and even quicker to dismiss. This explains knee-jerk reactions in case of medical issues episode and others.
- Importance of issues only matters to us to degree it affects us or suits our notions of religion, society and culture. Or in case of pesticides - our IQ or will to acquire knowledge.
