@Nirvanlove , Luv Jane Eyre adaptation, ufff Mr Rochester killed it in the bbc version, what is it with these british heros and where are they now?

@Parri,
I devour books like anything , so mad is my luv that dad used to put a ban on me reading novels for weeks coz I used to skip food and sleep for them.My journey started with DIckens-my 1st was Oliver Twist and what a 1st it was!!Then followed Shakespeare and Thackeray, it was quite late that I discovered the joy of Enid blyton-what a woman , I ended up having her biography- a great read itself.
Just finished with The Palace of Illusions- brilliant take on Mahabharat with Draupadi being the narrator.

The book I loathe and how is God of small things! how it ended winning the booker prize is beyond me!

znursingh,

I regret the day i raided Dad's library and got hold of that book, seriously how can one write that. It had all the cliches one can attach to India and actually it gives an insight about AR as a person. It damaged my head for years, still cringe thinking about it.

Its a good thing she hasnt written anything since then, I shudder thinking about what would be next!

LORD OF BIG THINGS???

OH but she HAS! She regularly writes six page articles in the Outlook-one of the memorably inane one was about how she was resigning as an Indian citizen-Goody! We won't have to cringe any more-and declared she is "A nation of One" whatever THAT is! She INFURIATES me! She ,IN COURT has declared that her American style ranch in illegally acquired land in the middle of a GAME RESERVE cannot be taken by the GOI because Indian laws do NOT apply to her because of her status as a Nation of One!!

My first love was Dickens too. David Copperfield :) :)

@mr rochester, he could have been better but in an adaptation from the year 1940s, that was my favorite. Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester was HOT but then the book didnt imply that Rochester was HOT in any sense 😛

Thank god i have never ventured into AR and the likes. Though i will recommend Emperor of all MAladies. its medically based but still understandable for lay man.

@ZEM Check ur phone.

@znursingh,

I know , her rant against India is very legendary ,ufff I remember reading her take on Kashmir, her denouncement of Indian citizenship etc.I have this strong urge to take her up on a nation-wide debate .whats funny is how media laps her up, how she is quoted and printed is beyond me!

Ironically she doesnt realize that only in India she can get away with all the mud-slinging, can we please get her the visa to "The Nation of one".

@Nirvan,

I dont know how DIcken's managed it but she gave us those true underdog kinda stories,which touched every emotional bone in the body!
Gonna check you recommendation!

By trading clothes for book now I can truely say I have my own library but still its fun sneaking in Dad's. I have this hidden desire to marry a guy who is a nice blend of all Austen heroes and has to gift me my little library, how charmed life would be!

Not only are her language skills deplorable-she is lacking in the common sense department! WHICH sane person would make a star appearance at a Medha Patekar's rally against the Narmada dam clutching a bottle of Bisleri/Evian water????*YANKS HER HAIR OUT IN FRUSTRATION!!!
Gives sentient woman a bad name!
