@parri

I'm afraid, for me a book means something printed on paper. I detest reading off a computer. Anything more than 4 pages, I take a printout and read.

Btw, Have you read Three Men In a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome? It was so hilarious, I was falling off the chair every so often. Been long since a book made me laugh so much.

L.M.Montgomery's been another favorite for a long time. I gave her books to my young cousins too, when they were in their teens. A similar book is Rebecca of the Sunnybrook Farm by Kate Douglas Wiggin. To fans of the "Anne" series it's like homecoming.

My current fav author for light reading is Georgette Heyer, and am re-reading the books of Murakami for the heavier stuff :)

Hi Chitrashi,

I'm with you about reading and turning actual pages rather than the virtual ones. I resisted the idea for so long. But I finally caved in because of my child. She is surpassing me in navigating this stuff so I decided to at the very least upload the Kindle App.

I love humor books. ErMa Bombeck is a favourite author.

If you enjoy that-you will also enjoy My family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell-in fact all his books as also James Herriot,Paul Gallico.'s Love of Seven Dolls. John Irwin's World According to Garp.

My two cents worth!

One of the most moving and shocking books I've read recently was "We Need To Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver...her other books were RUBBISH...and despite the masculine name the author IS a woman!

Ooh. Thanks for all the recommendations. I am in book heaven and I feel so awkward in book stores and libraries now. The simple task of choosing one becomes so stressful for me 😕I can never make up my mind so recommendations are so welcome.

@ Chitrashi=

You did say you liked non-fiction writing on another thread?!
If you haven't come across his writing before,please find something by Malcolm Muggeridge.

Impeccable English and VERY dry sense of humor!
