About the fun part in the third episode, the audience laughed about the words spoken by the victim and not by Aamir.Go down to Bihar, people are very straightforward and say everything directly without any shame. They are unapologetic even if they are discussing about their first night after marriage.Same here as well,Aamir asked the victim what happened and the victim spoke what he wanted to say.

I have a maidservant who calls the swimming pool in our apartment, nahane ka nadi. She doesn't know the appropriate term but says what she wants to.People from bihar generally are straightforward and hence people in the audience laughed when he was speaking about the first night after marriage.Other than that i dont think anything was funny in the episode.

@SB

Maybe you are right. But I did not like even Aamir laughing at his reactions. See, not even once did Aamir try to give a serious angle to this happening and tell audiences how practice of pakadwa vivah and beating up grooms was detrimental for men. The guest could be funny. But at least once, Aamir should have tried to describe to audience how serious this was.

I am not saying he made it fun. I am saying he did not even try to gauge its seriousness.

I agree it is a valiant effort on part of STAR and Aamir Khan Productions. I also agree it totally sucks when Rajdeep or Barkha try to undermine this show or make it look like a derivative of their shows and go on snidely about it.🤢 Such efforts should be supported. The issues are more important. Why compete with each other here or play a game of one upmanship?😡

I am not sure if SJ will have another season at all or not. Though I would love to see a second season sometime.

I agree they must flash numbers of helplines and contact details of relevant organisations and details of laws from time to time like a news strip. Good suggestion!

I think Aamir could have made a documentary or fully fictionalised account in case quasi-fictionalisation reminds of other existing shows. And I propose this only because I feel they are not handling real discussions too well. Particularly in episode 3. They are heavily focused on emotion and sometimes even leaving out dscussion on some facts to just focus on emotion!

And seriously, I do not wish to see any celeb in the show at all! It just looks out of place. Even if they have to call, then call someone like Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi, Rahul Bose or Onir who know about issues! Not a trying to make comeback heroine!

I really don't want to pick out all the negatives or the "flaws" of this show. Nor am I denying that there isn't any, because there are. (I totally agree with that girl from US starving for 4 days, like call 911 is all I was screaming at the TV lol) Nevertheless, I wish to look at the bigger picture. We must not forget that many of these "victims" probably are not even in the right state of mind. Who knows what we may have done in their situation? Its easy for us to say I would have left or called the cops. But many abused people are very submissive and are not as strong as we hope they would be. Well, I would like to see the bigger picture in a this. I will ignore AK tears(fake or real, don't care, I shed my own tears listening to some of the stories, don't care about his tears)...Yes they don't touch all the points in each issue, actually they leave major points out also. But they do in each episode open people's eyes to some extent. We might not be effected so much if we live abroad as we don't see many of these issues in India (we have our own share of issues in the states also)...So I am sure the viewers of India are a little more taken back at all the info given in that 1hour show. Also, its a 1hour long show (i think, don't watch the time) there is only so much they can put into it. What we may think is important the writers and producers might not and vise versa. So its again about perception. There is defiantly a lot of things they can do to improve the show but you also must remember, this is the very first show of its kind at this level or stage. Maybe the expectations from "Mr.Perfectionist" is really high and thus we see so many flaws. Make the suggestions on his website rather then here...maybe you might get to see what ur looking for on the show...

I agree...the show did lose its focus eventually, and I think you have some amazing points highlighted there. If possible, you can post it on to the official SJ page and maybe they might look at it or answer your questions... I would really want to see those answers and improvements...

Oh , where was this topic .. i was so looking for a topic .. which spoke of things that went wrong sply in the 3rd episode ...will read and comment later
one small point : Maybe amir will talk of 498 misuse in a seprate topic
all these topics are actualy related
female infanticide is there because there is gender bias , ther is dowry , there is domination torture and rape of women ... all these topics are interrelated and it happens becuase 50% of population(women) are treated as trash (ok harsh words , better words later !)

If you are referring to Sridevi, I think it's because she is Harish's fan and her movies were a measure of solace to Harish. No other personality would mean as much as Sridevi would to him.

I have a question, which other show closely resembles SJ? If none, then this is AK's maiden venture and at least he's trying. He's taking a risk as it's not nec that he would recover his investment in this show.

Yes there are improvements to be made and this link should be added in their official website so that Amir n his team can get the feedbacks and make improvements.

As for him being paid a fee for doing the show, nobody works hard or feels encouraged to do a gd job if he/she gets nothing for the efforts spent. At least with being paid he's accountable.

Episode 2 on csa, is it nec to highlight that even parents can abuse? Is it not understood?

Episode 3 could have been done better and I did wonder abt the issue of s498a, then guessed it could be an episode of its own in entirety.

And no blamed person or someone taking dowry and torturing if not satisfied, will come on national tv to admit he is that person. SJ is not a psychological show and dowry taking n giving is a social issue and what drives it I think we all know that. It's a matter of ego to some, to others a matter or showing off, a reason to torture, what's there to know hw their mind works? What's impt is that someone should stop it when they see it and that is the most diff part. The oppressed stop being oppressed and say thanks but no thanks,we will find some other boy. That has to start first.

I think we are being unfair for writing off SJ in just after 3 episodes. At least let half the season pass.

As for balance and exploring all sides to an issue, current track is 1.5 hrs per episode. To go indepth may mean a longer show, maybe 2 or 3 hrs. I think no one that is channel waale and even the masses will spend such time each wk for 13 wks to keep up with the show.

It's also possible that the essence of that particular episode on a topic might get lost. It's not nec that having too much is a very good thing. It can be wasteful or a brain drain.

This imho.
