My thoughts on second episode of Satyamev Jayate:
- The episode was very good overall, with a topic that was totally taboo and almost always brushed under the rug in the name of orthodox Indian culture. I appreciate Aamir Khan and his team bringing out this topic in open for public discourse and awareness.š
- I agree with some, that it should have been covered in a little more detail. The workshop was really good. Kudos to the Pune doctor for designing it.
- All real-life victims and survivors on this show - please take a bow! You went through so much! God bless you! And I salute them all for having the courage to share their stories on national TV with their families! You're no victims, you're heroes!š
- Aamir: He's nice as always. BUT I think he should have allowed experts to speak a little more. In fact, I would have preferred if he had let the Pune doctor do the workshop himself, while he could have just stood beside as a co-teacher or facilitator. I did not like the doctor sitting in audience and Aamir doing everything himself. I am not against Aamir. But just felt, he should have allowed the expert to take over. At times Aamir takes too many pauses or does his usual ''umm''/''uh'' when he speaks. Though he has greatly toned it down, he should have worked more on it. It feels odd when he takes pauses saying simplest things.
Aamir should tone down his crying a bit. Sridevi also got emotional, but she did manage to control herself and remained stoic. Aamir was all breaking down even during Ram Sampath's song! š²
- What I disliked - Don't mind, but I didn't like inclusion of Sridevi in a show on social issues. Satyamev Jayate for me, is a pure show, as real as it gets. I liked how Aamir himself shed his star persona for this show. But why invite celeb guests?I found it odd to invite Sridevi or she giving her movies' DVDs to her fan (the CSA survivor). I hope not more celebrities are invited to this show. It's one of a kind and must remain so. If they put celebs in it then how will it be different from other drama stuff on TV?
- I L-O-V-E-D Haule Haule song!!ā¤ļø Take a bow the music team of Satyamev Jayate!!šš¼ The song was so moving...it described the pain of a CSA victim so eloquently, the music was so soothing and such brilliant rendition by Ram Sampath! I hadn't been able to forget Oh re chirraiiya...and here comes Haule Haule! It got embedded in heart...š
One best thing about this episode was that it made parents realise not to underestimate, ignore their children - but to listen to them, trust them and try to realise their pain. Be with your child, care about him/her first, and so-called family/social reputation later! I love Aamir for forcefully underlining this fact! It applies not only in cases of CSA, but also others like depression, physical or mental illness and other trauma one can go through in cases of rape, ragging or domestic violence. A child always looks up to his/her parents. If that sole support is also not with him/her, he or she would simply break down!! Don't sacrifice a child's life in chasing bubble of family/social status!š
Anybody have any idea about this week's topic?
We've ranted enough on last week's episode. Though positive aspects for me was highlighting role of passport office, work of government in Punjab, some mention of work by Muslim organisations and the best one was explaining the good aspects of culture in North east states.
We only hear about insurgency or border disputes when it comes to NE states! Media completely neglects them. I was glad to learn about good practices in their culture. š
