Here is my Diwali gift for all RoSidians. Yes, It's my 15th OS; Diwali. On this Diwali I'm repeating the history behind Diwali based on our RoSid. I don't know, to what extent I'm successful. Yet this was an experimentation for the festival...Wishing you all a very happy bright Diwali I present this one to you guys. Do read and enjoy... DEEWALI- A ROSID OS BY ROSHNI Siddhant's P.O.V Life is full of wonders, and some time coincidences which would leave your jaw opened in awe. Coincidences were all a part of my life; since my childhood. This day, yeah Diwali; has always proved that my life has a lot to do with coincidences. Today is another Diwali...Our little home is filled with the glow of thousand lights. It's not all those bright electric lights which are the symbol of modern Diwali. But rather it is those traditional little lamps spreading their flickering lights to the corners of our little home. It's all her idea; yeah; Roli's idea...today; it's not only a Diwali...But 6 years ago, I met her for the first time on the same day. Our street was filled with the glory of beautiful lights and I was watching them intently. But amongst those little lamps was she; the lamp of my life. She was looking like the piece of some star in the universe which got separated from its abode. I didn't see her till that day. But you can call it my guts; I went straight away to her and proposed her. The light in her eyes became dim that moment. But the next year on the same day; it was our first night together. Yes, we got married on the next Diwali. The lamp called Roli entered my life to pull out all the darkness from it. That Diwali, we became one from two. The lights extinguished themselves in shy of watching our union. But it was not the way to darkness, but rather it was the way to the illumination of our life. Next Diwali, my Roli was bending with difficulty to arrange the Diyas. I helped her with it whilst we dreamed of the little one in her belly who would further illuminate our life. But next Diwali, fate played such a play that Siddhant wasn't with his Roli. Yeah, I was a naval officer. During one of my official voyages, I was kidnapped by some terrorists along with my collogues. I was tortured to the maximum but they didn't kill me. May be it was the luck of my child who was not born then. But though I was alive, the news that reached my family was that their Siddhant was no more. I know the light in my Roli's eyes were extinguished that day. With what difficulty would have she raise our little daughter Diya' without its father? She went for work and supported herself and my daughter. Not even a Diwali in the following years illuminated her eyes. The light of her life, her Suhaag was extinguished forever in her view. But see the play of fate, this year she got back all she lost on the same Diwali. After much attempts and imprisonment for more than 3 years, the terrorists left me free. I don't know the reason of their mercy. But I know one thing. It is God's gift for the tears my Roli shed. I reached my motherland this morning after three and a half years. The journey to my home felt like ages but finally I reached my hideout. But things were different from when I left the home last time. The Roli who was shining in a red saree with her hairline full of vermillion and neck adorned with mangalsutra looked like a distant dream. The Roli whom I saw then was a widow in white clothes, without mangalsutra or vermillion. Moreover there was no light in her eyes. But as she saw me the loud sobs that escaped out of her throat and the tight hug she gave me brought back that old light in her eyes. I once again adorned her with the precious symbols of our marriage. What an anniversary gift right? Then I saw the biggest light of my life; my daughter who has only seen her dad in photos. Thousand lights illuminated my heart as I picked my little angel and kissed her. Now after some hours we're all set to celebrate another Diwali. Our Diya ran about the courtyard placing some diyas here and there. Roli was asking her to be careful. I was happy to see the same light in her eyes again. As the crackers burst to make their sound she hided in my chest as she did always. But this time our little angel was also with us. This Diwali made our life a better, brighter one, I returned to my home just like the way Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after killing Raavan. The lights smiled and promised as a better, bright future as I hold on to my Roli and Diya. THE END
