It's late evening as Siddhant pulls into the driveway of Bharadwaj House. He has had a very bad day at work and is very hungry, angry and tired. All what he wants to do is take a hot shower, gulp down some heavy dinner and get to bed.
Even before he can reach the main door, it opens. Roli. It seems like she was waiting for him to get back home. She flashes a 100 watt smile.
"Siddhantji, how was your day?" she enquires.
"Yeah, fine," he mumbles.
Today, he is in an exceptionally bad mood that he doesn't even feel like talking to Roli. Her smile fades. Obviously, Siddhant isn't telling everything.
"What's wrong?" she asks.
Siddhant gets irritated. He is still at the main door with Roli blocking his path. "Can you at least let me in?" It is only then that Roli notices. She steps back to let him pass. Roli watches him as he just hurries upstairs to their bedroom. He looks very tired, thinks Roli, maybe it wasn't a good day at work either. I will do one thing. I will get him a nice, hot cup of tea and some snacks. That should make him feel better.
THEIR BEDROOM:
Siddhant is on the bed. He carelessly kicks off his shoes and pulls out his socks. Roli enters the room with a cup of steaming hot tea and a bowl of home-made bhajiyas.
"Here, have some snacks and tea, you'll feel better." But Siddhant seems least bit interested. He hasn't even heard what she said.
"Siddhantji?"
"Huh?" he snaps back from his trance.
"What happened to you?"
"Nothing, I just need to be alone," mumbles Siddhant. Absent-minded, he takes the hot tea and takes a long sip. He spits it out, startled. The tea is too hot. He is boiling mad now.
"Oh my God! What happened? Are you okay?" asks Roli, surprised.
"Why do you bring such hot tea? You want to burn my throat or what?" yells Siddhant.
"I just"" Roli begins, hurt at his angry outburst.
"Do you drink like this? How about the others? Do you purposely scald their mouths?" Siddhant is hopping mad.
"Why are you shouting at me?" asks Roli, very hurt.
"Then what do you want me to do? Huh?" he shouts at the top of his voice now.
"I can bring you another tea." She suggests, hoping to calm him down.
"No need!" he blurts out. Steaming, he picks up a towel and heads to the bathroom to freshen up, banging the door behind him as he does.
Roli is in tears now. She sits down and starts crying, hurt and angry. She understands that Sid had a very bad day and is very tired, but so is she. Why doesn't he think about that? She was waiting for him to get back, and now...
Just then, Siddhant steps out of the bathroom wiping his face with the towel. "Do one thing, get me another"" he stops dead. Siddhant tenses up... is she crying? Roli gets up hastily to leave. "Roli?" he begins, but she doesn't stop to listen. She just leaves in a hurry.
IN THE KITCHEN
Roli carelessly puts a pot of hot water and milk on the stove. She dunks in some sugar and tea as she tries to keep calm. Siddhant stands outside the kitchen door and observes her cautiously. He feels awful now. Oh shit, I made her upset. What do I do now? He wonders. "Beta Siddhant, you are an idiot. Look what you've done now," he mutters to himself. He dare not try and talk to her. She's too upset to start crying or get angry.
He enters the kitchen slowly, looking around. Roli watches him out of the corner of her eyes, but doesn't turn around to look. He pretends as if he's searching for something. Roli continues to watch him out of the corner of her eyes. She knows he's upto something, as usual. He now feels sorry and he's trying to make up. I'm not going to talk,' decides Roli.
"Where the hell has this thing gone?" says Siddhant, making sure Roli hears him. He wants her to talk back. But she is determined. She doesn't even turn around to look.
Siddhant is on all fours now, crawling around looking for something'. He finally reaches Roli.
"Aha! Found it!" He gets onto his feet.
Roli is curious now. Was he really searching for something? What is it? She is tempted to look at him, but tries not to. If she does, she'll either burst out laughing or crying. Moreover, she doesn't want him to see that she was upset and crying over his angry outburst. Her eyes are still bloodshot from the tears.
Siddhant takes out his mobile phone from his pocket. "I was looking for this," he holds up the phone for her to see. But she doesn't look at him.
He plays a nice groovy song on his phone. "Roop Tera Mastana".
He sings along totally out of tune and begins to dance to the song. Roli watches him out of the corner of her eyes. She feels like laughing at his dance moves. He dances very seductively as he sings "Roop Tera Mastana". He puts in all what he's got. Does a seductive belly dance... does a...
Roli smiles. She tries to hide it.
Siddhant doesn't stop. He goes on. Dancing. Snapping his fingers. Grooving his hips.
Roli can't take it anymore. She bursts out into a hysterical laughter.
Siddhant begins to laugh too and hugs her.
"Just because I laughed doesn't mean that I will talk to you. I'm still cutty with you."
"Doesn't matter, I still love you."
Roli smiles. How can she stay mad at him?
