Thnx for replying ppl......I love the way you all analyse each and every point and clarify what u want to say..............yup...I guess due to the emergence of so many newcomers, veterans dont get what they deserve......I can bet that if these actors wud be in some other show they wud surely be wasted(Im not comparing the shows so no offence intended)but however I feel in every new show these days the focus is always on the lead pair and supporting actors are kept just like that.........But since it is a Ravi Ojha show,I know none of the actors are being wasted.....every charachter has a well knitted story for them..if u see starting from kamli the maid to dolly didi..every charachter has ample screen space and a track revolving around them..i earlier told in OBS forum and now here too....this indeed is a perfect example of ensemble cast..where everyone should have screen space....even suli-sudi😆kudos to mitali bhattacharya and the CV's for chalking such good charachters..........😆I indeed love Mr.Ravi Ojha for this....starting from ek akasher niche, khela, bou kotha kou.OMG the list will continue.....I do hope we get to see more ravi Ojha shows on hindi tv...we surely need such directors now😃

Agree Shounak! In fact the same thought crossed my mind as well. Since these people do not get age appropriate roles anymore, they have to agree to play second fiddles like Moms, Dads, Buas etc. These days most of the serial makers try to attract the youth, and hence they go for new faces 16+ years in every new serial in an attempt to woo to the youth. This leaves the slightly older actors out of work. So they accept anything that comes their way. Mahesh has kids aged 4 and 8. So technically he should be playing Inder Bhaiyya's character. But for him to play Inder's character, they would have to look out someone old to play his mother and that would take away the glamor quotient of the show.*sigh* It is a sad truth ... but c'est la vie. We still do not have the culture of Catherine Zeta Jones or Julia Roberts at the ages of 40 playing the leads.

Shaunak...nice thread....👍🏼
In my views.....I might land up getting bashed for the same.....but the top serials that showed a leap earlier with the characters playing the fathers and the mothers role for many generations has been misguiding from that time....😔 the audience soon started to accept that change as a leap bought about the TRPs back to the peak, retaining their fav. characters....the funniest of them has been Kumkum where kumkum's husband(Hussain) looked younger than their son.
I think in SGP too Bua seems to look quite odd to be accepted as a mother to a grown-up son who will make an entry in sometime....Other than her, i think others are quite ok to watch in their respective characters......with ofcourse no mooch wala Inder to play his character......

Oh ya I remember Kumkum's son used to look older than both Kumkum & Hussain. Infact I dint like him as their son .
Regarding Radha Bua, actually IMO she looks the age she is potraying, as I used to have a friend who was 27 or something, and his mom used to look like her only (as far as age is concerned). Infact we used to make fun of him saying she looks more like his older sister than mom. But I guess that was because during those times, people used to get married at a very young age, and this guy's mom got married at the age of 17. So I think in this seriel also, Radha Bua must have got married at the age of 18 or something, which makes her in her early 40s in the seriel. As I said, look at Sridevi who is in her late 40s, does she look as if she is going to approach 50 😉. Aiswarya Rai is 36, does she look as if she is going to approach 40 😉? In real life also I know so many people who literally shocks me the way they look at ages like 40s, 50s, etc 😲!

Rijul.. ur thots r just what even Supriya n Shruti had aired in some interviews during the promotions of SGP in Delhi...
While i think Supriya has had a wonderful transition from playing a young single parent in 'Kshitij ke uss paar' which ran on Doordarshan (indias national channel) .. then she became a fun loving bahu in 'Tu tu main main' with Mahesh Thakur.. n finally culminated into badi ma.. i feel pretty sad for Shruti... she for one is sure not even looking close to a mother of a 23-25 yr old...
As for the norm of playing father or grandfather to people close to ur age..it was started by the great KeKta mai... wherein ... Inder who played Kiran.. in Kyunki Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi.... was father to Gomzi aka Sumeet Sachdeva.. who is his age...!!
I too feel worried n sad wit this trend.. n really pray that things do reverse n that actors get to hv a more natural transition into characters... n dear.. FANTASTIC RANDOM THOTs... luv it... 👏👏👏
