I was watching SGP yesterday and something struck my mind..So came out with this topic..........

As we know that SGP comprises of an ensemble cast with some of the finest and experienced actors of tellywood(im not considering the newbies here) like Supriya,Mahesh Thakur,Sudhir Pandey,Anita Kanwal..etc.
So I was just thinking.....Now they are the dadas, dadis, badi mas,etc of television but 5-10 yrs ago they used to potray such young charachters..
Like-Supriya Pilagaonkar and Mahesh Thakur as the young couple of Tu Tu Main Main,Sudhir Pandey as father in Hum Saath Aath hain and amanat,Anita Knawal used to play a vamp in some kiddie show(sorry dont remember the name of the show but have seen her....btw she used to look very young),Shruti Ultaf used to play a young girl in I Love You with Anoop Soni and same with Sadia Siddiqui....................But now the norm of TV has changed so much that I guess there are not many charachters for them except dadas, dadis, mothers, fathers etc.....I dont think they are so old to play such characters.especially Shruti and Sadia............They are so young and yet play bua and mother,😕
To say the truth I love their acting in SGP..I am not complaining...but If we think from these actor's POV.........Its so sad that they dont get any other charachter to potray of their age..........
If the norm remains the same.I fear that in 5-10 yrs to come we may see our very own Ragini playing a badi ma sort of charachter and Jay soni playing a father of a 23 yr old😕
Just imagine Ragini as badi ma😕😆
I hope the norm changes and these talented actors get a chance to play their age..If SRK and Aamir being 40+ can play such young dudes then y cant they??😲
What do u guys think???I hope my topic makes some sense😆

Kya random thoughts hai yaar superb 👏 😆
Ahhhh U reminded me of dose golden days of television kya shows the😍 I used to luv all dose shows I can even watch dem now widout getting bored for a single second 😳 Dey were soooooooooop gud shows simple nd sweey... Ahhhh misss dose old days 😭
Kkkk comin back to d topic, I agree wid shweta lots nd lots of new actors r entering tv industry.... Dey r countless lols.... Fresh faces demanding less amount who wuldnt want to cast dem.... I m sounding lyk ekta nd all but dis does makes sense 😆
I too feel bad for dem dey rnt getting to play sumthing of deir age but luk at d brighter aspect... Dese r d actors we have been watching for d last 7-8 yrs or so nd still dey r doing shows on tv... D newcomers r just one show wonders except for sum noone is getting work after deir debutant show finishes but our older actors have cum back nd wid dey have cum back wid a bang.... 👍🏼 Wats better dan dis we r getting to watch dem on tv isse badi bast kya ho sakti hai... It feels gud to see dem back on screen.... Now amidst of sooooooooooo manynew actors we r getting to see dem isnt dis gr8.... We shuld get satisfied no lols

But I do feel bad such talented actors not hetting deir deserved space in d industry... I read shruti's interview sum days before... She said dat she didnt want to be a mother of such grown up chikdren on screen but still she is happy wid d work she is getting she is enjoying her stint in SGP...As long as dey r enjoying its gud... As long as dey r getting shows We shuld appreciate nd enjoy deir work.. 😳

Nice thoughts!!😊
I prefer explaining my POV so plz bear with my long comment!😆
umm....in a way I agree completely with u....these actors definately deserve some work of their age.....acc to me, the main reason for this is tht today all the producers and directors want 'Fresh' faces to play male and femal leads in their shows!Obviously in this way the well-known actors(even those who have just done 1-2 shows!) are left to accept with character roles! So the industry is flooding with new talent and isn't able to accomodate the old talent anymore!
These veteran actors deserve quality work definately!Talking specifically about the actors in SGP, I think they r much lucky than others in accordance to the quality of work they have got to do!actors in some other shows are merely doing roles with no importance and no logic(no offence intended!)!Supriya Pilgaonkar has been doing such gr8 work till now!But now she, being a mother of a teenager, will hardly get any role to portray even a sister's character! And then,it also depends on the way any actor carries off that character.Rem'ber Reema Lagu was always shown as the mother in the 90s films! It was probably bcoz she did such a justice to tht character!
hehe..Ragini playing Badi Maa😆..This profession is in itself so uncertain tht no1 knows whether any actor wud even landup with any other work after this gets over!😆

Very good topic. Hmm, but well I dont agree totally with you. As there is a difference in the way people look from generation to generation. Like during my grandma's days, people used to look older fast, maybe bcos of their dressing, their food habits, etc. But since my mom's generation, women dont look their age, like for example, my aunty who has a 27 year old son looks a lot like the way Radha Bua look (as far as age is concerned). She just doesnt look her age, except slightly on her face. Infact last time she came to Dubai, she even wore jeans and kurta on our insistance and she dint look awkward. So lot of people age elegantly. Look at Sri Devi, I think she is in her late 40s but still she doesn't look as if she is going to be 50, does she? Infact she looks even younger than Supriya right? Similarly, Shilpa Shetty, Aishwarya Rai are like 34, 36 respectively. But do they seem as if they are going to approach 40s? So Radha Bua is phir bhi supposed to be in her early 40s, and Rano in her late 40s, and Badi Ma should be in her 50s, so I think they look their age. My aunt is going to be 60, she looks exactly the way Supriya looks (as far as age and dressing goes).

And those days girls used to get married between 17-21 years, so maybe thats why they still look young with big sons.

But I think Badi Ma's son looks slightly older than the character he is playing. He is supposed to be maybe in his early 30s but looks much older. He & Ranjini dont have any kids, so I presume they also got married recently or maybe 1-2 years back. Initially when I started seeing the seriel, I thought he was Ishan's dad's brother, later only I came to know he is only Ishan's older brother.

Actually its just Ranjini who doesn't seem to grow old, as I feel she looks the same now the way she used to look during her Hum Paanch days, 15 years back! In the seriel also she plays a young bahu as age doesn't appear on her face.
So in conclusion I feel the characters rightly look their age, if you compare the similar age group people in the real world.

Oh ok, I dint know that 😳, but still yaar, I think he would be in his early 30s, still somehow I dont feel he looks like Supriya's son, he somehow looks much older than that. Somehow, he doesnt look as if he is in the same age group as Elesh & Ishan !

Another thought comes to mind...tele-serials these days spin stories around youthful characters. SGP is the story of this young couple. Take any tele-serial and the thematic jist centers on young characters. So its quite natural to have folks in their early 20s play the role.

If hindi serial industry could produce meaningful stories about people in their 40s or 50s (like the movie Baghbaan, where amitabh and hema play central roles), we may get the opportunity to see these talented not-so-blushing-young experienced actors in central roles.

Ya I think that would be one reason, other than that also somehow he doesnt seem like Rano's bhatija 😆! I told you na, initially for several episodes I thought he was in the age group of Ishan's dad, just lately I got a shock when I realised he was in the same league as Elesh & Ishan 😆!
