SM is the continuance of the old SM where the lead characters Saravanan (Mirchi Senthil) and Meenakshi (Sreeja Chandran). The traditional wedding arranged for them by their families pauses due to the animosity that arises between the families. The pair later fall in love and convince their parents to get married. However after their marriage problems arise resulting in several mishaps. Then they join because they are overjoyed by Meenakshi's pregnancy and the fact that they cannot stay apart. Finally, after all the problems have finished Saravanan Meenakshi move to Canada. The second version is their son SakthiSaravanan comes down to India from Canada to find a bride for him just like his mother. Faith leads him to meet his attai ponnu Thangameenashi. Both eventually falls in love and the only problem is Thangameenashi - Tamil will never agree for this marriage.

Vetri who was a short film actor & model got introduced in kana kanum kalangal kalloryien kadhai (vijay tv) in 2011. And then he did kana kanum kalangal kallori salai (vijay tv ) in 2013 Along with kavin(vettayan (sm))

After the serial ends he worked in film named (mahabali puram) and some short films . Later he was roped in sm part2 as sakthi saravanan by replacing Irfan. He was quite popular for his smile & romantic looks in kana kanum kalangal kalloriyien kadhai shortly k5 .

Rachitha got introduced in Pirivom santhipom serial (vijay tv) .After that she does some telgu shows.Then she bagged a role in Elavarasi(sun tv) . Later she got the lead role in saravanan meenatchi season 2 as Tamil's daughter. Rachitha married her first onscreen co star dinesh (karthik of pirivom santhipom ). Rachitha participated in 60 nodi are you ready reality show .she did a show in zee tamil also

b. Venkadhesh as tamilan

Venkatesh's passion is always acting, he has worked in many films though it was just a small roles. Sura(Police), The Villa-Pizza-II(Land broker), Thegidi(Police) and many more. Though he has acted in many films he was waiting an opportunity which brings out his talent in acting with various emotions and surprisingly he got an offer to play 'Tamil' character in famous Vijay TV serial Saravanan Meenakshi. He got a nick name from his fan as 'Small Screen Rajkiran/Junior Rajkiran'.

siddarth menon a software engineer participated in Alagiya tamil magan reality show(vijay tv) few years back .and won first runner up . Later he played lead role in "en peyer meenatchi " (vijay tv) . After that He got back role in saravanan meenatchi season 2 as Tamil's son as parralel lead . He is an emerging dancer too. Finalist in jodi no 1 season 7 (2014)

kavin (vettayan aka saravana perumal)

kavin got auditioned for kana kanum kalangal kalloriyien salai (2013) for vijay tv and bagged lead role . Later he did his role in saravana meenatchi season 1 as sudha 's husband .

And then he got a short lived role in Thayumanavan (vijay tv) And then again he got introduced in saravana meenatchi season 2 as a villain with humour sense . His comic villain role is quite popular in sm 2.

He Anchored super singer junior(2014) for very few episodes.
