hi Arshi...
Saw an epi after a very looonnnggg time purely on your post.
Yeh kahan aa gaye hum...now sort of like an infrequent lurker on IF ...mostly log in after some days and limited to reading up on your posts ...😛
This epi...still not a patch on its legacy...but much better I guess from the rest of the recent epis..
I guess the impact was magnified because they got the classic background score right...That is a masterpiece and if used rightly can really set the mood..
From what I gather,...Kumud is mostly unrecognizable nowdays from the luminous character she was originally conceptualized as...
But apart from that , Kumud remains the supreme mystery that cannot be fathomed.
She moved from one extreme to the other, just so suddenly
While my locus is simply the current epi...this behaviour is sort of still aligned with our earlier analysis of Kumud's character...
1) she is a natural leader, with strong will and a high self esteem; leading to a highly opinionated personality and her own way of looking at the world.
2) most of the time she is right and able to get her way. Her fearlessness also allows her to also pull through whatever she has set her mind on (most of the time).
3) a natural corollary is she feels responsible for everyone and her belief (wrong though) that if she's not around people will fall apart.
(Feels familiar?...How many times have you been on a vacation and worried that your team back in office, though very capable, will just lose it if some crisis develops! And the desperately first checking of emails whenever you get within wifi range when on holiday to make sure all is right!! 😊...despite you having already having closed out all contentious issues and team likely to cruise on auto-pilot!
I remember once on vacation...Dear Wife had once snatched my phone, walked up to to the pool and threatened to dunk my phone into it when I had spent 15 mins downloading emails during a hotel check-in when on vacation ...with hotel staff with welcome drinks and all twiddling their thumbs. I remember instinctively responding by telling her to please dunk it after a few more mins so that all my emails get downloaded...and that it was not my fault...slow Wifi at a star resort! What was the world coming to? 😛. To which she had smiled sweetly, said OK, waited for the downloads, then calmly dismantled the phone, taken out the SIM card and washed it thoroughly in the pool, then bent it in half and said "OK?"...so now I had emails to read but no way to respond!
p.s. While she's pretty reasonable most of the time, my learning in that episode was that I finally mapped her "dangerous sweet" smile. Its just the same as her "dear hubby sweet smile". But I discovered the difference is in the eyes...In this version there is now just a hint of steel in those smiling eyes...and a challenge thrown out..."Dude, just try what I think you want to try!". Nowadays when I encounter this rare version, I simply say "Whatever you feel like!" 👍🏼
nAlso, Nowadays, I simple leave my office phone at home when on vacation and call key team members every 4 days.
Sorry I digress...back to Kumud & Saras...
4) Despite #3, Kumud has a blind spot...she does not know the limits of her capability and consequenlty when to stop or seek help.
5) However, Saras knows all about #3 and #4.
6) Both have a really great relationship and give each other space. They have gone beyond the superficial displays of love. So most of the time Saras allows her to function in her way, betting that she will finally realize the folly of her ways and accept his POV.
Only when she refuses to stop and enters a self-destructive phase does he step in to stabilize.
7) I guess Kumud also knows this. Consequently, she displays
extra love and affection at really crunch times, because she knows how deep is Saras love for her.
He would have protested, but still allowed her to go down her path and allowed her to discover for herself her path was wrong. So once she corrects, he is already waiting on the new path (his path),.,,no ego, no "I told you so", no making fun etc.
In a way its also her way of saying "Sorry I said all those things earlier to you. You were right and I was wrong. Peace out."
That's a beautiful and healthy relationship. Saras is truly being a man and allowing her full freedom.
With respect to the show...I guess seperation is the theme which the CVs are milking...so its anyway going to be one seperation after another...Once they cut loose from the source, the source of seperation will also be trivial.
p.p.s.
Knowing the capability of our current crop of CVs, I leave with the caveat from Richard Bach's Illusions: "Eveything (in this book) might be wrong."
