What a great analysis from you Shana. you have actually managed to dive into what the cvs intended
to show, rather than what emerged.
Because as it is, it's very difficult to sympathise with kusum when she asks Kumud to go live with
pramaad or throws tantrums blaming Danny who is as much a victim of this as she is.
I think somewhere at a concept level the cvs wanted to show a helpless kusum, but ended up showing
a very selfish and petulant girl.
Agree with you on how she should be handled vis a vis how she is being handled.
But the irony of the situation of two sisters is to be seen, and it also shows the difference in their
character
Both were to be married to Saras
Last minute, both were ditched by Saras
Ended up married to the wrong guy
But that's where the similarity ends
While Kumud had the courage to deal with the situation,
Kusum completely broke apart, and refused to deal with reality
I guess that's what is strength of character all about
Arshi, welcome back...🤗
I disagree with a couple of things here... There is not too much similarity between their situations, or their "marriages".
Saras had proposed to Kumud "in front of the whole village" and declared his love. And Kumud had no doubts about his love for her.
Saras never proposed to Kusum or even said Yes to Kumud's plans. She simply took his shocked silence for consent! And Kusum (misled by Kumud) assumed Saras was going to marry her, although she knew exactly how he loves her sister.
Saras informed Kumud that he was ditching her (That phone call!) Kumud then "chose" to marry the faceless groom, that she knew was not Saras. She did this to save her family and in particular her father's face in society. Both the bride and the groom pretty much knew what they were doing.
Saras asked Danny to be the faceless groom, without telling him that Kusum thought she'd be marrying Saras, and that Kusum does not at all love him, Danny. Kusum married the faceless groom believing he was Saras. She did this for her own stupid, selfish reasons, knowing that she would definitely be ruining her sister's life, and Saras' as well! Neither the bride nor the groom knew what they were doing!!
Kumud and Kusum's different characters are thrown into contrast in the lead-up to marriage itself, not only in the aftermath! Danny is the real bakra here.
After all that, Kumud "knowingly" married a horror show, and dealt with it best as she could. And Kusum unknowingly married a man who loves her to bits, and then attempted suicide!!! Difference to kamaal ki hai...😛
