Not here to discuss how right or wrong Kumud is. There have already been brilliant discussions on that but one reason why the mandir scene was so spectacular was the soulmate connection between Saras & Kumud.
Kumud knew it was Saras ringing the bell. He was in deep anguish, he was pleading an answer from God. She was pulled towards him with tears and she cried his name out continuously. She fell, she was tormented by Saras. He was in pain, so was she. Saras started ringing the bell faster and louder while Kumud's plea became more heightened. He wasn't at peace and as a result nor was she.. Symbolically she was at his feet when she said 'Today I've come to ask you for something'. You'd think that line would be put in front of God. But this was to Saras. A desperate request to stop causing her so much distress. She can't handle it...
For me, that was some creative brilliance! What a way to show this soulmate connection.
That is one way to look at it.
In my POV that was the most pathetic scene showing how much Kumud and Saras have totally lost their peace of mind and inner compass.
Kumud believes she can handle everything.
Kumud does not need the help of God because she knows what needs to be done and how to do it.
Saras sits to meditate and instead of thinking of God thinks of his problems with Kumud. He goes to the temple and instead of trying to imbue the peaceful vibrations rings the temple bell to take out his frustration over Kumud's behavior!! And disrupts the peace not only of the temple but also of the surrounds!
