Once before, when Saras was out to do prayashchit by helping Ila ben during the Yash fiasco, I felt that he needed this to feel like he suffered for causing pain to Kumud and her family by rejecting her. They never showed such, but his constant relying on saying he is doing prayashchit for his wrong doings, made me feel so.
As for Kumud, she is suffering this because, she finds suffering at the hands of Pramad as a way to forget her suffering for Saras. This torture hides her deep mental wound, and hence she lets it. She prefers this torture from her husband, instead of him being a decent guy because she knows it would not be easy for her to accept a loving husband, after so much pain caused by the man she loves so much. It would have been agonizing to give in to a good husband;s advances and to try and love him back. This suffering is easier for her than to fight the feelings for Saras.
Today, he sees himself in a worse position having caused this horrible fate to Kumud. He is once again doing prayashchit not for his mental peace this time, but to help Kumud rise out of this. Their love does not need physical manifestation, it is just this deep rooted understanding of each other's pain and the absolute love for each other that they cannot bear the thought of the other in misery. They are always only trying to help the other one rise from their fate. Once before Kumud had helped him fight his loneliness and opened him up to life and love. This time he has shut her to life and love and he will open those gates for her again.
Her dialogue to him today was about his failure to maintain a relationship, and her dialogues since the beginning have always been about she believes in nibhao-ing any relationship in her life. It is because of this contradiction between them that they are in this place today. And this is also the reason Saras, realizes that Kumud is not one to break this marriage to put it in danger simply because she willingly stepped into it herself. He knows she will do everything in fact to make it work, even if it will take a long time through physical and mental torture. He accepts that and that is why now his mission will be to help her make this relationship work, instead of pushing her to break it. He knows that this is what is important to her.
It is going to be a beautiful track because it will show Saras helping change Pramad, only for Kumud's sake. They both will unite in making her marriage work with pramad. Isn't it such a beautiful irony? It is also going to deal with a lot of anguish from both sides as he will have to bear seeing her with her husband and she will have to bear being with her husband with Saras always around. The pain in this is unfathomable.
Saarthi is exactly the word for such a relationship. They have something that is so difficult to find anywhere, but is impossible to keep. Such is the tragedy of their love.
