Today he got the real picture- heartbreaking..like he said zindagi bikhar gayi hai.. he saw the shattered pieces today.. what a brilliant scene. the blood from her forehead falling on his hand..stunned Saras realizing Kumud is hurt runs to her... O piyaa seemed like a gut wrenching panic call ..and then the bare truth right in front of his eyes..he must have died a thousand deaths then and there..standing in shock at the door looking at her state! slouched shoulders, head hanging down, in tears and blood... it hit him like a stab right at the centre of his heart.. this is Kumud now.. the facade off.. broken, bruised and defeated at the hands of fate.. she sees him, gets alerted immediately brushes off her wound , holds back her crutches of anger and pride and gets back on her feet.. You gotta love Gautam and Jennifer in that scene.. his eyes are fixed on her tears and blood as she verbally assaults him, accuses and condemns him.. absolutely loved the choice of words for the dialogues..

Saras- Ye kisne kiya?
Kumud- kisi Saraswatichandra ne ( There! you did it.. ) she accuses..the hurt he gave her is much more than any physical hurt and she will tell him that..
He takes the dagger (hurtful words..)..this is not the time for guilt and mournings.. she was hurt
Saras- ye chot kese lagi ? Pramaad ne...? (gritting his teeth)
Kumud- she averts gaze..

he got his answer.. he would have knocked the culprit out of whatever sense was remaining in him, for hurting his Kumud.. had she not put the chain on his feet..to hell with her marriage, that scoundrel needs to be smashed into a pulp..but she knows what can stop him..her last resort and it worked..

helpless, bound by her kasam, he stops..now this was my favourite scene of the day.. the bandaid scene..Gautam was brilliant..that silent non verbal communication of requesting her to put on the bandaid..wow! Kuchh na kahe was so apt there..

Once he leaves, her crutches fall and she breaks down again..beautiful scene

Desai's are suffering from ostrich syndrome..complete denial.. avoiding to look at the problem in its face doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.. and what is Kusum trying to do..? whenever the parents show the slightest concern over the bad stuff they hear about their SIL, she feeds them fafda to divert their attention or talks about karkhana etc etc etc!! Vineeta Thakkar as kumari is much convincing in her role..didnt quite like her acting when she was lambasting Sunny.. hope he hangs around to keep her engaged and reinstate her ''pyaar pe vishwas'' *fingers crossed*

Another classic case of living in denial is Buddhidhan's wife.. she is always busy hiding the skeletons in the closet and brushing the dirt under the carpet '' all izzz well '' 😃 Atleast Buddhidhan doesnt try to cover up..he has failed as a father, he accepts and he looks for a solution in Kumud..wrong yes but atleast he is trying something in the hope it may work...Kumud is following the foot steps of her MIL.. divert, avoid and make everything look perfect on the outside..why? she has no other option.. she has to make it work anyhow.. standing up against Pramad at this point..? yes I am all for a strong Kumud but practically speaking Pramad is not someone who can be dealt that way..if that had been the case, Budhhidhan would have been successful by now.. Yes it was wrong to jeopardize someone else's life, but Kumud in her true avatar, the one we know from back in RN, seems like the only one who can tame this guy.. I think just like Saras and Kumud, Pramad's character has also been modified.. the reason for him being the way he is, have been put forth . been constantly criticized, humiliated, compared to Alak ..he doesn't seem happy doing what he is doing..except when he is with Kalika..there always seems to be lot of anger, frustation and complaint bottled up inside even when he is normal.. hence I see a scope for him to get reformed if encouraged instead of criticized all the time...looks like Saras will get to the root of the problem and help Kumud ''cure'' him of his complexities..

I am loving how the dynamics has changed .. the plot very interestingly poised.. I wanted Saras to take charge of things and Kumud to take a step back.. loved that bit from your post ''The red of his forehead a dull fading wound ..The red on hers a bright red, fresh and dripping So how he hurts with her pain , his own forgotten'' that sums up everything from now onwards.. seeking an apology and mourning for what is lost is not his priority now.. Kumud is.. there was resolve and urgency in his eyes.. Gooo Saras! 👍🏼

Vaishali, I have read your post 5 times already, so beautiful. There's an energy, a vibrancy in your writing that I love. 👏

a reformed Pramaad is a bit of a double edged sword right now - it would mean an end to Kumud's suffering, that I want, but then it also means Kumud will not have a reason to walk out of her marriage, that I don't want.

Why cant slb keep things the easy way - a rotten pramaad who dies, nobody mourns, nobody cries and Samud live happily ever after

Hgg bhai, bringing forth your response from previous CB:

That is the beauty of subjectivity, innit? Every interpretation blazes its own path. You start out with a skeleton premise and in due course, you flesh it out (pun unintended). Have hopes that SC will show all of us a similar way... =)

I'm still on the fence and resolutely aim to be so, until CV's push me to either side with a McMasterstroke. That is what it'll take... My profession requires me to take sides from the outset, so it is truly refreshing to not claim allegiances for once... I'm Team Saras-Kumud 😎

Edit: Strictly outta curiousity, tho... Whose your "champion"? 😛

Arshi, yes you described it so well "Dard ka Rishta"...but I am so mad at Kumud.

Today's highlight was Saras and only Saras. I just loved him today. He will not walk away from Kumud's problem. He knows she is living in hell and will live like that. He knows his one mistake costs them huge. Kumud has to pay for that by living with Pramad and Pramad's torture. Saras has to pay for that by seeing Kumud in hell. He keeps hurting himself..but Kumud didn't melt. Uf. GR emoted those painful expressions so well..."Kumus's kasam, hurt seeing Kumud's blood, burning his own hand". GR, today was yours.

Isn't CVs repeating previous events: Saras asking for forgiveness (previous event too), Saras challenging "tum kal shaam tak sab ko Pramad.." (similar to Kite one), Kumud asking Saras to leave...but doesn't want him to leave...events are similar. Meaning is similar but substance is different now.

Kumud, I am very mad at you today. Why are you quiet and not telling everyone about Pramad? Why are you being like "abla nari". This relates how some married women are living their life in today era. Trying to save their husband honor...seriously...Kumud you disappointed me today. Where is our Kumud who would take stand for right and fought for all wrong? You pretend strong infront of Saras and others...then you cry for Saras when you are alone.

Kusum-LC-Gun: understand you pain, understand why can't you forgive Saras...Kusum, you are right...if Saras fought with LN-Guman...what has that to do with his love. Infact, if you are hurt, first thing you do is come running to your love seeking for some peace...but here Saras broken the marriage. Kumud your anger is totally justified...but when you will come to know about Pramad...it will kill you more. Don't close your eyes and think everything is fine at kumud's house. Loved your shernie attitude today.

Sunny, like a true friend...you are trying to make everyone understand Saras's POV. But buddy, accept Saars made a mess. Just by saying Saras still loves Kumud, is not going to heal these deep wounds. Bring Guman's true color in front of LN, go find Saras, call Danny. It is time to take actions.

BD and family, what is wrong with you guys...until yesterday, Kumud had no pallu on her head...and today she is covering her face...no one asked what is a problem. Did you guys even thought how Kumud will manage with drunk Pramad? Yes BD you ruined Kumud's life for the sake of your son.

Over all:7/10

GR as Saras was :10/10, Bang ON. Loved him today.

Jenny as Kumud: 0/10, for being so abla nari...disappointed

@bold completely agree with you, both mr and mrs BD completely blind to Kumud in their obsession for their son albeit in different ways , and all Desais blinded by their insecurity and fear

@ green - great observation P02, yes it's a rerun isn't it, but as hgg also pointed out earlier - end of innocence, here it's a lot more serious, with more at stake!

@ red - that Kumud is right now dead, she is punishing herself, and him, pramaad doesn't seem to be in her equation, and she is an automaton, doing all the right things in her sasural, but the only time she feels is when Saras is around.

And yes, pallu , at least alak or her lalloo pati could have commented on it!

Thank you Arshi :) you are very generous ..
@bold- fate will provide the reason like always.. reformed or not , the character will die..my feeling.. the blood mingled with the sindoor dripping from her forehead and Pramaad himself wiping off the sindoor ..I think those are hints..and if they are following the novel so closely, I don't see why they would deviate on that part..scope for reformation doesn't necessarily mean it will be accomplished.. trust Kalika to mess up with Pramad's head if he shows the slightest inclination towards Kumud.. she has an ace up her sleeve! Personally, I think it'l be interesting to see a growth in Pramaad's character..

Some early reactions:
1) nice episode and nice CB. Loved the song you selected.

2) We are finally moving forward and leaving the treadmill (I hope).

3) Loved the fact that all the CB theories neatly fitted together:

A)
Hgg: Alpha-Beta. Kumud forced to remain a beta(yet). But Saras finally becoming more alpha now because there is no other option (refer Ivy section below).

B)
Smrth & Ivy: The color Red will define & bind them. Loved the connect through the blood shown today.

C) Ivy - (i) See-Saw & sandbags. Today it was the turn of saras to shine.
(ii) Saras needs enlightenment first on how bad the situation is for kumud. ONLY then will
he stop thinking of his apology (what kumud can do for him) and start thinking of what he can do for kumud. This will be his redemption. To do this he will have to become an alpha

D) Adiani - (i) Once A & C come into play, we will see the evolution of saras and the journey will really begin.
(ii) The nuance is not in 'pure pyar kiya' (which is a given) but in the 'pyar nibhana' part.
(I was amazed that Kusum's dialogue said exactly the same words!).

We seem to be piecing this together in advance pretty well. 👍🏼

4) Also, I would like to bookmark this epi as 'The Rise of Kusum'.
Today was the first time she ever said more a couple of her stock lines like 'lagi shart'.

I was struck by the similarity!!
Replace kusum / sunny with kumud / saras and what she said would have been EXACTLY the same words / sentiment Kumud would have expressed to saras had she been on talking terms with him.

Did the CVs use this scene to REITERATE why it is such a big deal for kumud and why kumud is not on talking terms / her rationale? Another of Ivy's sandbags for kumud? Making the point again for kumud bashers to 'get'?

So if a kusum track is starting, this epi will be the start point.

5) Loved the 'Tumhe Meri Kasam' scene.
These 3 words spoke volumes.
Kumud will consciously keep on repeating that its all over because saras has broken the relationship and her heart. Ergo now there's nothing between them and saras should stay out of her life.
And then what does do? She binds him to her wish through her kasam...with has as its implicit foundation his love and caring for her...Ergo nothing's changed between them.
Her instinctive response highlights her true feelings which her conscious mind tries so hard to erase.

6) Also liked the matching blue outfits for both.

Yes, the jadugars are also jyotishis!

But hotdogg, for me even more powerful than alpha beta is your 'end of era of innocence' , same scenes replayed as P02 pointed out, but on a different emotional level now.

The blue - I wondered on that - even the room was in a light blue hue, - was it a reflection of the mood? next day at the table, pramaad was in light and dark blue- Saras and Kumud's colors - to remind us of last night? Any theories on that?

It did seem as if kusum has stepped into Kumud's shoes now, she has come out of Kumud's shadow, and yes, it was as if she was mouthing Kumud's lines. So lets hope kusum sunny story can start now!

Loved your explanation of ' tumhe Meri kasam ' - so perfectly true!

Agree, Kumud is dead right now..can't think straight. She is torn between Saras and Pramad. He loves Saras but has to live with Pramad...that guy who treats her like crap...but why she is not speaking against Pramad. Why is she hiding all these things? Where is our Kumud who once said "Ma sach ka saath datie hou"

hope you won't mind me replying to your query.. I think your first line answers your last line/question..that Kumud is dead for now..after all that has happened with her, her self confidence must have been dented too, to some extent.. she is in a new family who have in a way, atleast on paper, done an ''ehsaan'' on her family by saving her family from disgrace in the society..In her mind, right now only she is suffering..atleast her family is happy..all thanks to the dharmadhikaris.. In the given situation, she is perhaps feeing obliged to put up with all the crap Pramaad is throwing at her.. Its not been that long either.. So she will want to put in all efforts from her side to achieve what is expected of her before she goes for the last resort i.e inform the family.. and is that gonna help anyway? Don't they already know how Pramad is? Like you said, did they care how the girl is gonna be in the same room with a drunk guy? shouldn't they worry that he could get violent with her?.. did they get curious about why she was covering her head? they see what they choose to see..so I don' t know what difference will it make even if Kumud tells them about the way Pramaad is behaving with her.. BD may simply say '' well that's why we brought you.. reform him! 😊

Ivy-
what can I say?...Its pretty obvious isn't it...Kumud!
(Not that this makes me anti - saras!)

Why?... Let me make an attempt...

A) I use a simple mental exercise by observing the change / situation and removing all 'noise' by looking for (i) simple Cause & Effect i.e. what is the effect and who is the cause...(ii) Would the effect have happened irrespective of the Cause?

In phase 1 (before the wedding) the primary effect was saras getting drawn out of his shell / healed. Who was the cause? . .. kumud.

In phase 2 (current state) the primary effect was both separated / kumud married off / samud in misery. Who was the cause?... saras. Everything flowed from that telephone call.

Phase 1 was positive and cause was kumud.
Phase 2 was negative and cause was saras.

Net net ...Go kumud!!!

😛

B) Also I find so many qualities in kumud so endearing and inspiring..
- resoluteness
- determination
- firmness
- ability to take a stand / best decision under a given set of circumstances (even when under fire)
- taking it on the chin...(no boo hoos even if the decision was wrong)...
- taking accountability for her decision
- sensitivity / awareness of external environment (even when under fire)
- grace under fire
- knowing her priorities
- unwavering moral compass under any circumstances
- retains her femininity despite all of the above

If I have to summarize the above I would say that kumud has always had the moral strength of a samurai...a warrior. A character who is an island of purpose, purity & power in a sea of chaos and where lesser mortals often flounder (saras, VC, LN etc.).

She knows what needs to be done basis alignment with the shifting reality around her.

There has been a consistency to her character's qualities that I have always found missing in saras (both in good times and bad). He has continuously wavered.

To use another war analogy...if I was to get into a foxhole in the middle of a raging battle and I had a choice between kumud and saras for my buddy ...on whose work my own life would be dependent...I would choose kumud...because I know she would always have my back come what may, will always keep the objective in mind despite what happens to her and would defend the stand till the last. Its a mental / attitude thing.

This has been one of the most powerful female characterizations that I have come across in quite some time.

She should be the aspirational character women should be getting inspired by.

And I continue to be amazed by the overall preference for saras and his significantly lower graded 'qualities' above by a large percentage of women on this forum.

So yeah...what do I know???
Personally its one of life's unexplained mysteries. 😉😎😕
