Her dilemma starts. Her marriage, though rendered spurious by a sham husband, is still operative binding for her linear mind. Sindoor she received, Mangalsutra she accepted, her father's committed 'Kanyadan' she honoured, are more sanctified than the cherished memories she did live- once in a 'previous life'. For her, so powerful those chants around a sacred fire are, in one stroke, they demoted those treasured memories into a category of 'infidelity'! Such mortal is her 'moral' dilemma...
And this was the predicament, her renouncing 'fiance' had not accounted for when he pushed her off ostensibly for her own good!
And yet, amidst all this tumult, she is secretly cherishing a 'faith' restored- validated. A 'betrayal' banished, for it was never a 'betrayal' after all. But a fatal flaw triggered by externals...And what an 'assurance'! If oath bound husband is ready to push her off the precipice, the 'spiritual' husband is One shield between a falling death and herself- Protecting her like a wall of steel.
And he!? How does it feel to see her married? To see her so cheaply valued? To see her locked with such unmitigated 'horror' that he never envisaged in his worst possible nightmare? To see her 'crashing'? But above all, to see her 'dead' alive?! This is a curse, he would willingly trade his life with, if only it could set everything right for her. Unfortunately it can not.
Why today has to be so cruelly pungent while yesterday was so beautifully sublime; with her then and with her memories even today, even if excruciating.🤢

Lovely lines Arshi...!⭐️
But I disliked that dialogue from Saras, "ab ham kabhi nahi milenge..."...,,Cvs? Need you nettle us even during such heavy track?😡

So true Divya, and I am really wondering what next. She may not find it easy to break off her marriage, then what?

Didnt see the episode but read the WU.
Kumud forgiving Saras so quickly was a superb move by the makers. Shows how strong the love is in her. And she is not completely unaware of his situation when he said no. She knows. Now the focus is shifting subconsciously to the knee-jerk reaction of hers to get married because of the messy life she has been pushed into.
And Saras's pain increasing manifold seeing and understanding what Kumud is going through in her sasuraal.
Yesterday's splendid show of emotions by Saras still comes to mind. First surprise, then shock from realization of her marital status, then sadness, guilt and helplessness. Finally the apology. And how she breaks down seeing that apology.
There is a seriousness and no-nonsense approach to the narration where it is required. This is what I like about the show. No character is superlative. But the story is.

@ bold - so true, and I am so glad that the original is being followed, that there are very few filler episodes, and in emotional episodes, there is very tight control.

As for Kumud forgiving Saras, I think her emotions are still coming out, she will go through a circle of feelings, and we will see some anger against him also, but yes, it was really good to see her joy at knowing that he had come back, her first instinct of wanting to run to him!

Oh ... How apt are these Beautiful lines from SILSILAA for the present situation that both of them find themselves in. 👏

( Btw , Silsila was studded with gems ... but i have always felt that this one is the brightest of them all ... and when Mr. Bachchan recites them in that unmatched deep , sonorous voice of his ... Aaahhh... Goosebumps ) 😊

As for the episode ... Ohh... soo much Pain everywhere ...in their Hearts ... in their Eyes...

But soo Beautiful that one could not take one's eyes off them even for a minute ... cause these two Beautiful Souls are bearing this Heartbreak with soo much Dignity ...

The Angst soo Intense ... but Heartbreakingly Beautiful

( i had unshed tears in my eyes , almost through the length of the episode )

and when that horrid Pramad made that absolutely disgusting move of givng him money ... the way Saras first looked at him and then at Kumud ... Shocked and Unbelieving at first ... and then the hurt and horror of realization ... of the kind of Creep that Kumud has got herself tied to... of the Hell that Kumud has landed herself in ... Hats off to Gautam again .

@ Kaadal ... your poem in yesterday's CB was soo Beautiful ... truly Fantastic . 👏

So good to see so many wonderfully Creative people here .

Wow twila, Silsila is my fav film too, must have seen it 20 times! When Kumud and Saras were across the wall, Amitji's voice was echoing in my head, the passion in his voice matching the feelings of Saras and Kumud!

Pramaad Kumud scene - it gives me creeps when he touches her and Jen was superb in that scene, the fear, the revulsion, yet duty bound, she reaches out when he stumbles.

Years of social conditioning have made her resigned to her fate, so she does not fight him, just doesn't want her sham marriage to become a public spectacle, to avoid harming her new and tender relationships and hurting her parents

Lines from that Silsila poem fit very well for Saras n Kumud. But the last line of 'mohabbat' doesnt do justice in my POV. Silsila was more(just) about chahat, passion etc. But Saras and Kumud's case is more than that. They are soul mates in every sense.

Arshi great post as usual. And yes I was feeling the same when I was watching the episode. She wanted to run to him, she realised her Saras had come for her. Even I had the same thoughts like you.

Kumud ke payre pe zanjeer hai apne nayi zindagi ki, kisi aur ke mangalsutra hai uske gale main, mathe pe kisi aur ki sindoor and naam se vo kisi aur ki patni hai. Jo chavi abh dik raha hai vo Saras ki Kumud ki nahi, kisi aur ki hai tho kaise jaaye Saras ke paas. Pramad threw her out but she still can't go far. She still has to stay within the confines of the new wall which life has built around her.
Saras wanted to meet her, his Kumud whom he was searching was near to him right here. But his guilt, knowing he had pushed her into this life doesn't allow him to face her. What will he answer her, how can he give her the life which he had stolen from her. He too is bound by the new walls life has built around him.
Navinchandra..Kumud was surprised & shocked and Saras not able to face her. Kumud had questions written on her face but she has lost the right to ask him anything.
Pramad sees Kumud as his foe, a person who has come into his life restraining him from all his normal activities and getting him punished by his father who already is not happy with him. So Kumud against Pramad and Saras still as her indirect ally. Kumud is happy knowing he had come but sad that she is in this place because of her love.
The scene where both of them sat on both sides of the wall was so touching. So near but still so far. Can't reach out to each other nor call each other names. Kumud will gain strength with him around and Saras from her.
Itne paas hai phir bhi hai ek diwaar ki dooriyan
Ek haath iss taraf tho doosra uss taraf
Ek se aasu tapke tho doosre ka dil bar aaye
Dadkan hai ek inke phir bhi
Taqdeer ne aise zanjeer hai daale.
Ansooni Ankahi baatain hai dil mein
Ashkon ka sailab umad pada hai
Chahthe hai kuch thum kaho, kuch vo kahe
Lekin iss bebasi par chup hai dono
Taqdeer ne aise zanjeer hai daale.

Kaadal,
@bold- you have said it perfectly, life has been cruel to them, people have made bigger mistakes in life and gotten away with them!

Two good people, who love each other, had good intention, acted for, what they thought, was the best, were only trying to protect their loved ones - Saras by some twisted logic was doing it to protect her from marrying a nobody, and she protecting her family from the shame and pain of her broken marriage.

But destiny had its own plans for them reminds me of the dialogue from Anand - hum sab to rangmanch ki kathputalian hain, jinki dor oopar wale ke haath main hai!

Taqdeer ne aise zanzeer hain daale - she really is chained and trapped - to a man who humiliates her at every chance and I hope what you say happens - she gains strength from Saras, and since both have a strong sense of morals and values, their relationship is redefined to friendship, support, where he does become the saathi who will do her raksha, till this rishta lasts!

Quite a poet you are Kaadal, your prose always had a smoothness and fluidity that I loved, ab to shayari bhi mashaallah!

So true, Pasumarthisa, while the words are apt for Saras and Kumud, the feelings of Saras and Kumud are not the same as feelings of Amit and Chnadni, there is a purity in the love of Saras and Kumud, which was missing there!

I think we shall just have to let them get on with it! I just like the really solid wall they chose to depict S&K separation... I'm sure that genda phool garland must also have been the most perfect example of its kind! SLB doesnt stint on quality even as far as cinematic devices go...😆

Loved the Silsila song-choice, Arshi, and the rest of your post, as impeccable as ever! Signs of awakening in the Desai household continued apace, and quite literally, in Dukhba's case!

In honour of Saras-Kumud crying their way to their (hopeful) reunion, I've unearthed some shaayari as well, Mirza Ghalib, no less!

Dil hi to hai na sang-o-khist
Dard se bhar na aaye kyun
Royenge hum hazaar baar
Koi hamein sataaye kyun
...

Edit- to highlight the author's name...😲

And SLB doesn't stint on quality, where emotions of majboori and bebasi go,

And lovely sher from Mirza Ghalib, but in the days to come, happychappy I think, they will have to turn their hearts into stone, specially Saras, when he will see what pramaad is doing to Kumud and will be unable to fight off the goonda, the way he had done in the bazaar, when they so much as stared at her bare back!

And" koi tumko dekhe to bardasht nahi hota, " se leaving her alone with a monster night after night who cannot be trusted, he will have to become Pathar dil now!
