Above sentiment, reiterated, represents resolve to move forth and begin things afresh, yes, a desire to give the current circumstances their best shot, definitely, a willingness to provide a troubled soul some stability, affirmative... But also... Re: Saras and Kumud... It is but a promise to each other, to themselves and to us, made on a sub-conscious level... Remember the crossroads they're at, well, they're also closing distances, destined for a full-frontal collision... Alpha against Alpha or Beta against Alpha or Alpha against Beta or Beta against Beta, remains to be seen... The powerplays of destiny, indeed...

If Alak falls for Navin/Saras then:

- will she think tactical and join the MIL- Pramad-Kalika axis against Kumud? or

- will she think strategic and become Kumud's ally, in order to sort out Kumud's relationship with Pramad, therefore leaving Saras to herself?

- In either case, her hubby will have to take a stand entirely opposite to hers, since it is in his interest to get Saras & Kumud together and get his position cemented in the family. But will he think tactical or strategic?

This dynamic is going to be really interesting to watch.

Gun Sundari is one of the strongest character conception by author- in some aspects surpassing even Kumud. Of the four parts, second part is dedicated to her- 'Gun Sundari'. According M.K.Gandhi, author achieved peak of story telling in this second part...

Though primarily home maker. Author has showed her achieving an all round growth side by side her Husband. Some times She showed him a good way to manage some tricky crisis involving introduction of taxes,(state vs subjects) etc. In later years she even nurtured/managed a village in the kingdom (under executive authority of her prime minister husband) to an ideal example. Of course, all these irrelevant here, but I feel, Cvs have subdivided two important characters in two separate casts each in adaptation. Dukh baa and Dhan Nand (Gumaan's son) were hardly a mention in the book. Chandrakant/ Sunny is much more powerful in the book. Only one who cancels SC's impractical logics on his face. Cvs have devised elements of 'Guniyal' into Gun Sundari and Dukh baa, and 'Chandrakant' into Sunny and Danny. Notice, when they are pitching Gunsundari as mother, it turns out much more powerful and natural...

P.s. about 'renown' Guniyal, even Kumud- Saras were aware of her...( I had noted this in my earlier post on their first encounter😆)...remember, Saras reminding VC ( at time of his anger) of her untiring contribution to family? Cvs were referring to these.

What I was only concentrating on was the "if" hoping that'd be a big one, in caps-lock nonetheless, but you laid out the contingencies so concisely... And its too irresistible to not think on those lines now... It's really a labyrinth, isn't it... So many characters, so many different motivations to take on board, so many ways this can go to reach the obvious conclusion. Makes one appreciate the CV's more... Their task is daunting, to say the least 😕 The chief concern here is that Alak is the character who is concealing the most right now, her disdain for her hubby aside, she is a cool cucumber who plays her cards v close to her chest. I'm still reserving judgement on this one... Right now she is operating on logic, all aloof, for the most part... IF she falls in love she will operate on pure emotion and thus be vulnerable. Tactical or strategic indeed... Off-hand, what's your bet? 😳

Edit: I am of course assuming here that she will be more vulnerable, in love. But Alak may turn out to surprise everyone, who knows... Regarding her hubby, you stated it best... They're on a see-saw... He will always move contrary to her, and his actions dictated by her plays..
