Beautifully said Adiani, a man is judged by his actions, no matter what the emotions behind it, and so Saras is the bhagoda, and will have to live with the burden of this.Yes much that is passed over as ordinary and mundane is actually strong and true and extraordinary, however, we often look for tradegy, trauma and torment before we brand anything as great. The day Saras and Kumud unite to live happily ever after, we would unfortunately be no longer interested in their story, for then they would join the ranks of you and me, happily living our lives with our small joys and sorrows!
...Just a thought..How much we love Samud here..but why?
A husband, a boyfriend breaks Himalayan promises.. one finds them at every street corner.A wife, keeps taking back her abusive husband.. We brand them as doormats.I'm amazed at human psychology that everyone wants Samud back..pleading Kumud to wait for him...Why? What makes us believe in eternal love of theirs..I guess I'm yet to see the eternal love unfolding further. I hope I may change my perspective....

It is precisely because they showed the Saras-Kumud love story the way they did, that we are here at all, discussing these "serious" matters threadbare!!! It is because Saras was not a man who treated or would treat Kumud as a doormat, that we root for him! Yes he has broken promises, but he has also been shown to be in brain-dead state of trauma that looks logical by soap-standards. When he was in his right mind, he did stand up to Gumaan for Kumud, he kept vrat for Kumud! and took great risks! to go to RN just to see Kumud on KC night! If viewers did NOT want Samud back, that would mean SLB/Team SC failed in their job. That we care and that we want them back is a compliment to SLB/Team SC! The web of eternal love that they wove, which we may have found a bit sickly sweet at that time, was obviously effective, it did the job, looks like , to me!

I like the way this CB thread esp. Hgg-bhai's posts and Arshi's has tossed around the stereotypes of the "love story", how each new version is essentially a permutation of the same old same old choices... And yet, the style and nuances of each retelling can be so engrossing that we get so involved in the fiction, never think its an old story, but look on it with fresh eyes, relate it to our own experiences... and identify with the characters.
Wonder if SLB picks and chooses from his creative store cupboard, three slivers of Kabhie Kabhie, two pinches of HDDCS, one spoon of Saawariya, a dash of Parineeta, a sprinkle of Devdas?? The basic choices are few but the ways of presentation are endlessly creative...Hope Team SLB can find a resolution at the end of this particular story that will please most of us...😉 Quite a task, given they have the albatross of the adaptation on their shoulders! In the first four months, in addition to the casting bonanza and scripting highlights, they have mostly hit the right spots in terms of presentation, and made two heart-stoppingly foolhardy choices on the story, so that's promising at the least. We need to give them special brownies for that achievement in the middle of a steep TV learning curve (for SLB himself) and lots of churn (in the crew).
