Hgg,
Thanks again for a gripping post...
String theory.. it's offshoot application re astrology etc...had been over them before...but fine presentation here from you, thnx again.
On spiritual comments;personally i have a different take based on Karma paradigm of my faith...finding the model ideologically most convincing, 'Syadwad' being its foundation...(astrology is needless and redundant tool)...but these are beyond the present scope (ideological take)...just a mention seeing your clue...😊

@ all,
At first, respecting everyone's views or opinions about astrology or its relevance. From the outset, I just wanted to dissociate astrology from a presumed linking to the spiritual aspect of his characterisation, as based on my individual take. For me they are separate topics. And by this, I didn't mean to hurt anyone's views on it. Discussing astrology as a topic was never my intent...😳

Wow what a wonderful explanation, I would recommend everyone should read this

It really gives a good perspective to astrology, what it is in its pure form and how it is being misused

By commercial interests.

And your information on Shiva Parvati Ram Sita Vivah being in different muhurtas, I had no idea, thank you for pointing that out

I wish our CVs also had done that sort of research!

Great post, so informative

You know, when I post CB , I have no idea which direction it will take , what new learnings and ideas will emerge, and today once again, one line in the show has created so much learning for us

Thank you again

I never know I am able to write this much about astrology.magic of your cb thread I know I wrote a irrelevant topic in the episode discussion thread. Bits and pieces of knowledge about it .
FranklyI did not expected a reply from you .
@hotdogg thank you I love to read your analysis about specific topics.

Samarth, like Arshi even I am not understanding your frustration towards Saras characterisation. If you are comparing with the original I understand. Seeing the introductory sloka, just my 2 cents on it. Like you said I don't think or maybe I should say I didn't feel it was pointing towards the impurities around his life. I didn't even feel it was for their salvation. As per the sloka, the path to attaining anything is surrender, be it any condition spiritual or material remember him whose eyes are just like lotus petal and you will be purified body and soul. I somehow felt it is to show how he is, a person who surrenders to god, to people and would attain his purity, a clear mind. It was introducing Saraswathichandra just like when they introduced Kumud her lips are sweet, her eyes are sweet, her face is sweet, her smile is sweet..everything is sweet about her.

After coming home, he stands in front of his mother's picture and says he didn't take your prasad nor your love. A prasad is offered to god and I felt for him his mother is like the god now and he has prayed to her. I have always felt hIs respectful acceptance of Guman shows his character. If you see his first bow towards Guman, it was to touch the Payal remembering his mother's and not exactly towards Guman. That first scene shows what he feels for her...it is like I am giving respect to your designation but it is not to you as a person. If you compare his character to that sloka, I feel it is pointing more to his submissive nature towards life.

I was actually quite intrigued by LN's description of Kumud as Sun, at that moment I had thought maybe they wanted to convey Kumud as the strong one, fiery and passionate and Saras will be the calming one. When she dived into the pool to get the pearl, VC says this is our Kumudsundari , she has gone to get the pearl and she will only come back with it...she dived into water to bring her father's pride back.

Now I am thinking maybe the difference between them was shown at that time itself. If he can show obedience to Guman inorder to keep his promise to his mother, he will always surrender to his duties and she being the strong one will face any darkness to keep her pearl. Saras has said Kumud is my responsibility, so maybe now she is included in his duties as well.

Disclaimer : it is only my POV, kisi aadmi se ya sachi gatna se lena dena nahi hai. Let me see how many tomatoes I can catch now 😉

nice perspective on astrology.

Just sharing..

...from a physics perspective there are different forces of nature...gravity (how do things hold up together, why does the earrth revolve around the sun and not go into the sun), electromagnetic (reason behind electricity), nuclear (how do atoms which constitute matter retain their shape) etc...these are all forms of energy...

theoretically since the origin of all forces in the universe is the same and the total energy in the universe is constant ..there should be an equation that helps convert one force into another (sort of like translation)...scientists have still not been able to find a theory / equation which can universally help convert each known force into another.

.. so its like you see individual pieces but not how they fit together...

..in the world of physics this is a huge huge matter... scientists are devoting entire lives and careers to figure this out ...why is this huge?...one, it helps to figure out how the world works and two, once you figure it out there are real-world applications ..

...for e.g. Einstein got the Nobel prize because he figured out the equation to convert energy stored in mass...that led to better understanding of how the universe functions at an atomic level...and all the applications of that theory...
- the atom bomb,
- the entire nuclear industry which generates electricity (get it?...nuclear energy stored in atoms is used to produce another form of energy..electricity)
- the entire radiation therapy (cancer treatment) industry and medical imaging (CT, MRI) industry.
- the entire modern semiconductor industry (all PC, mobile devices etc.work on chips which work at atomic level when they do the work for us...knowledge of how atoms work helps in creating faster and faster chips in smaller and smaller space...thats why new gizmos are smaller and faster)
- the entire nano technology industry which is just beginning (you are going down to electron level here)..

.if you look at high end physics ...there is currently tremendous interest in something called string theory..

NOW...string theory is one of the front runners among many theories which shows the most promise to crack the unified equation ...

as it gets developed is pointing to something mind blowing...it is indicating...
- that somehow the universe is more intimately connected then thought possible
- the universe is existing in 5 - 7 dimensions. (We knew only 3 dimensions..length, breadth and depth...Einstein's theory discovered a 4th called space-time...another reason for his Nobel prize).
- it is indicating that the universe is like a web..and each and every particle in the universe is connected to the other and exerts influence over each and other particle...through known forces (however small) and unknown ones (who knew about nuclear force before Einstein deciphered it!).
- that's why its actually called string theory...every particle connected to every other particle by forces like strings attached between them!

- it is making the scientists crazy..since it goes against all their preconcieved notions of the universe...but it is the only correct model so far which is going a long way in explaining the Why and How.

AND here is where astrology probably comes in...I am not looking at astrology from a horoscope perspective..what will happen to you today...or do this pooja or that pooje...but the kundali...

What if:
- at the time you were born, there were strings of forces attached to different planets..
- at the time when you arrive in this world and the brain cells are awaking...the net sum of forces of a conjunction of planets (gravity, others) interacted say with the cells and atoms of your brain (mind )and made infinitesimal changes in them...like programming
- then these programmed cells work in a certain fashion...thereby going a long way in creating your personality and point towards how you will behave / respond to given circumstances..
- that determines how you will respond to stimuli all your life...
- which then gives an indication of your path in life...for e.g. if your mind is programmed to become prone to panic attacks under pressure...then anyone who understands kundali can pretty much predict an outcome for a person who is facing some unpleasantness..
- you could now 'read' the way forward between two kumdalis of two people..

What if:
- all this information was distilled into a guide used by great astrologers!

Oh..Oh.. Just saw the length of this post...Maybe I digressed too much...

Neways the point I wanted to make to smrth is that
- maybe there is more to it than we know...pure astrology is maybe a science forgotten through the ages...(I do not know if any culture prepares kumdalis with planetary positions)...
- maybe we will have to wait for the west to endorse the science before we acknowledge it ourselves...we need a certificate from the west before we accept our science (like yoga...it became glamorous after the west adopted it).
- I dont personally believe in astrology ...but I am curious still...

About saras
- dikra had nothing else to do all the time he was alone...maybe he took this up as a hobby...
- in the novel saras is a master of sanskrit...maybe this is an adaptation
- it formed a cute scene yesterday...will it get ominous is to be seen...I want the 15 days to go by fast...do not like kumud going out of sight / out of the safety of the desai haveli for 2 days before these 15 days are up...

chalo...gotta stop...too much written...

arshi
taking liberty of posting slightly unrelated topics on your thread...hope thats ok.

Hotdogg bai, another interesting post. This is the first time I am hearing string theory related to astrology and you know it sounds convincing when we think about all these in a scientific perspective. My grandma used to say we and our planets are like the earth and sun and moon. Movement of the earth changes the positions of sun and moon but if you see it together, it affects each other equally. Astrology is indeed a vast subject and has its own magic. Not spirituality but a clear mind and thought process is needed to understand the planets and its process in a person's life.

Then I wonder how will Pramad happen?

Arshi I am not sure if they will be married. As per what ever has been shown they are already one soul and married as well, so now only separation is left. Or maybe no marriage to Pramad but still seperation in some form without these two getting married legally.

Kaadal that's a superb explanation. Even if the shloka was just a coincidence, the coincidence had struck me then as a viewer. And i shared the annoyance at subsequence idleness of yesterday.
Kaadal I too had some similar impressions that you described. I have elaborated Kumud's shloka in my note. The link of that post I have shared in P5 post..even Payal and tinkles ( kamarbandh) motif I had noticed and savoured. That was their first interpersonal bonding moment from
Saras's side. This also I had tried to pen down in a subsequent post, 'Enchanted..". Wish you people were there that time, or I might have known them then.😊
