Newsroom has combined all reports of trp to find out about the so called TRP system.
PS-This is a complete report from all the information we collected from sources
How to increase TRPs?
If your in India, make sure that your TV is tuned into the GEC at least 5 minutes before because the TRP machine notes down the trp of a show exactly when it starts. So if any show starts at 9pm,it will be recorded exactly at that time only.If you tune in even 1 minute late, then your show will not be contributed to trp's
If any one has two TV sets at your home, make sure you tune in both the TV sets 5 mins before the show starts so that the trp gets registered from both your TV sets exactly when the show starts. After 2 minutes the show has passed if you want, switch off one TV set because trps at the start has already been registered.
People living in India watch the show at 9.00PM on your TV set instead of the repeat because a channel always gives top priority to its prime time trps rather than repeat trp's. Repeat trp's are also taken into count to decide the overall ranking of a channel, but priority wise prime time is given more importance.
What is people's meter?
There is an small chip connected in your digital boxes and TV which is called people's meter. People's meter has the authority to note down how much you watch a show and contributes to TRPs.
Why is TRPs calculated?
While some thing high TRPs contribute high amounts of money to a GEC,it is not true there is no benefits for GEC's except advertisements revenues. TRP for fiction shows are only calculated to see if they should continue or close a show.
Are all people living in India calculated in the TRP system?
It's a big no,In order to arrive at the trp rating, calculations are done. For this a special device is attached to the television set in selected viewers' home. These viewers are considered as sample by the TV owners. This special device is called as People's Meter. This people's meter records the time, duration for a programmed being watched in a day. Average is taken for 30 days and trp rating is given.
What are GRPs / TRPs?
Gross rating points (GRPs) or Target Rating Points (TRPs) are chiefly used to measure the performance of TV-based advertising campaigns, and are the sum of the TVRs of each commercial spot within the campaign. The GRP of a campaign is equal to the percentage of people who saw multiplied by the average number of spots that these viewers saw. Targeted Rating Points are a refinement of GRP's to express the reach time frequency of only the most likely prospects.
