The whole show is a tribute to chandra-like Saras. It is named after him. He's pretty one every character in the show is ga-ga over. He's even the politically incorrect fair one in the show that all the characters admire for being so "foreign."
Kumud even knows that he's prettier than her 😛 lol and goes to see him with a lamp, thereby becoming Devdas herself. The whole lamp scene is a Devdas-like ode to Saras' beauty.
Refreshing to see a tribute to male beauty. Sanjay definitely took a risk there. Good pick of actor too. Gautam practically looks hand-drawn. Very pretty eyes. His face is so movie-star handsome that he's almost feminine pretty with his fine, groomed features. He has a kind of artistic beauty whereas Kumud is more real, practical, everyday pretty girl.
Don't take this the wrong way, Saras/Gautam is very masculine, but there is a kind of artistic beauty that makes a man beautiful. Very few men are like this. The other one I can think of is in my avatar - John Thornton. It is really something special and should be celebrated because most producers don't pay any tribute to male beauty. It is always focused on the girl being pretty. Let's objectify the man once in a while. 😆
