I just don't want the focus to divert from the social cause. I somewhat agree yo your point, but sometimes one person is enough to bring a change. Our history is proof of that.
@Topic...I wish I had what Gunjan has in her. Persistence n convincing power. I am personally against littering, spitting, attending nature calls in open n disrespecting women. I keep telling my fam members n frndz all dis, but i guess i dont hv dt convincing power. I live in city...everybody knows what is right n what is not, almost all r educated bt still dy want to b ignorant . My peepz follow the things i tell dm only in front of me. Behind my back, dy have chalta hain attitude...i wish i cud change dt. My hubby is from village, wnever he goes thr, he goes to fields to attend nature calls, inspite of having a bathroom in d house. I tried talking sense to him saying itz unhygenic, bt hez like itz been going on since years n nothing hpd to anybody. Hez a SAP consultant...if educated behave like dis, hw will India progress? One thing m sure is once i hv kids, i will inculcate these habits in dm since childhood, dtz d best bet for bettering India.
Yes, truly, I believe. You said it beautifully! What kids see, is what they do! If only we lead by example.. change can be followed! I hope that you are able to bring the change you desire. and you know, don't worry.. more and more kids of our future learn more and more change we will be destined to see. Just as you said, your hubby being educated and learned, still he follows the old customs of the villages, despite having the facilities in his own house. Why is that? When you asked him, he said, that such things has been happening for years, so why stop now? for him, its not a big deal, because thats what he is accustomed to believe, and thats what he has seen growing up and its what he sees as 'natural' no matter what your views may be in. You may not succeed in changing his views on it, till he realizes the need and necessity for the change. But if your kids certainly learn to differentiate between them, like you.. slowly the change can be seen happening. And you are sooo right! people, especially, indians. No matter HOW MUCH you try and educated them to learn about proper hygiene, good health, healthy eating.. etc etc... they will though 'learn it' but will ALWAYS do.. what they have been doing till now.. with the "don't care attitude' its just sad.
Thats why i feel, adults cant be taught as well, as kids can. So, its best we start with kids only.. and they are always eager to learn.. and change, can be brought by them, and through them only! Thats why, I decided to work with kids, only in my career... teaching them about nutritious food, helping them make better choices when it comes to eating.. so we can control the measures of heart diseases and other health ailments like obesity and all that, in the future :) What might become a genetic component we must strive to bring proper change, through education.. teaching those who will learn to understand, perform and value the change that is necessary to bring.. to our future :) Hope, we are able live to see this change... one day :)
