Young heartthrob, Kinshuk Mahajan who won hearts of audience with his stints in the soaps Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai and Chand Chhupa Baadal Mein, has been chosen to play the male lead in Zee TV's upcoming prime time show titled 'Afsar Bitiya'.

The show is about an honest and determined girl from an extremely moderate background and how she deals with her ever changing situations after she becomes successful in her career. Kinshuk will be seen essaying the role the male protagonist Pintoo Singh. On accepting this role, Kinshuk said, "I am very excited about my role in Afsar Bitiya, especially because it highlights the importance of education.

We are all well aware about the huge reach and influence that television as a medium has among audiences and I'm happy that the channel has decided to showcase the aspirations of a young educated girl hailing from a lower middle class family. Afsar Bitiya is a story of a girl who makes a mark in her profession only through sheer hard work and her dedication towards studies. I urge everyone to watch this show and inculcate the zest to study in your children to become 'someone' that others will want to emulate."

After a long wait and endless rounds of auditions, dusky beauty Mitali Nag has been selected to play the female lead in Zee TV's upcoming primetime show 'Afsar Bitiya'.
The show is about an honest and determined girl from an extremely moderate background and how she deals with the changing situations after she becomes successful in her career.
Hailing from Nagpur, Mitali wanted to become a singer and carve her niche in the music industry. Mitali even has her own all girls band Teen Musketranis and has also participated in singing reality shows on television. For the past few years, she has been very active in the theatre circuit and has been a part of well known theatre troupes in Mumbai doing shows across the country.
Mitali will be playing the role of Krishna in the show who becomes 'Afsar Bitiya' later on. Krishna belongs to a lower middle class family in a small town called Bhagalpur in Bihar. She is a confident girl who is always immersed in the world of books. Though her family has not been very supportive towards her higher education, her zeal to continue studying eventually makes her a successful government officer. This story is all about how Krishna deals with the trials and tribulations of life while juggling between being a dutiful daughter, daughter-in-law and an honest government officer.
"I still remember the day when I got a call from the casting director. I had a taken a break from work and was in my hometown, Nagpur when the director gave me a brief and asked me to send a footage. So for the audition, I shot the footage on a handycam and uploaded it on Youtube, which was shown to the channel for approval. Then I came to Mumbai for the final look test. During the look test, I had to do one particular scene with seven different guys who were being auditioned for the male lead. Enacting the role of a wife to seven men for the auditions to select the male lead made me feel like I'd even beaten Draupadi. I had a sigh of relief when Kinshuk was finally chosen to play the male lead," said Mitali with an embarrassed grin.
Mitali has bagged the role over well-known names like Kratika Sengar and Ulka Gupta who has earlier auditioned for the role.
