Part 3

Anmol wasn't sure if he heard Ragini correctly. Shivani? What? The tension of seeing everyone he loved in danger was probably making him lose his mind.

"Ragini, what did you just say?"

Ragini looked as though she wanted to kill him.

"Please Anmol! How long are you going to deny it? I know that you and Shivani were involved in the past. And I know that she still loves you very much. Why are you-"

Anmol had heard enough.

"Stop it Ragini! For someone who has 20/20 vision, how can you be so blind? Have you really not noticed for the past seven years how much I have struggled with my feelings for -

"ALEKH! SAKSHI! KHUSHI! TAMANNA!"

Ragini knew that voice anywhere.

"Bhaiya! Oh God, we're in here!"

"Ragini? What on earth? What are you doing here?"

"She's with me." Anmol spoke up. "Vineet Bhaiyya, Alekh and Sakshi have gone home with the kids. I suggest you do the same. Ragini and I will be fine until the police get here."

"But happened with Tarun? I have the money he asked for."

Anmol let out a bitter laugh.

"Tarun became a victim of his own games."

Ragini spoke up.

"Bhaiyya, can you go home and tell everyone we are all right? Especially Khushi and Tamanna, I don't want them to be worried about me or Anmol."

Vineet, like Alekh, was hesitant to leave his little sister there, but he knew there was no one on the planet that could take care of Ragini more than Anmol. He put a hand to the wall of rocks that separated him from his sister.

"Anmol, please take care of my sister. I'll go and tell everyone what happened."

As soon as Vineet had departed, Ragini's mind went straight to the conversation she was having with Anmol moments ago. She almost laughed at the fact that she was stranded in a cave, and all she could think about was what Anmol was going to say to her. She turned to look at him and found him leaning against the wall, with folded arms and a very solemn expression.

Her heart skipped a beat at seeing him so intense...and so handsome. She blushed and quickly pushed those thoughts aside.

"Anmol?"

His intense gaze landed on her, and Ragini almost regretted saying anything. The expression in his eyes scared her. What was in his eyes? Anger? Fear?

Anmol walked over to her, his eyes never leaving hers.

"Ragini, I think you were right about us. We just can't be tied down to this fake marriage for the rest of our lives. After all these years of being married to you and telling you how much I love being a part of this family, you just forget all of that and believe Shivani's lies when she tells you that I still love her? Do you really think I am so fickle?"

Ragini felt her heart pounding against her chest and tears began to slide down her cheeks.

"Anmol, there is no one in this world who I respect more than you."

Anmol wanted to pound his fist into the wall. But he restrained himself, because no matter what happened, Ragini was the love of his life, and he would never do anything to frighten her. He did wish, however, that he could restrain his tongue like he could his fist.

"If you respect me, then how could you try and separate me from Tammy? You know how much she needs me and how much I need her, but I guess Shivani's words just have more weight to you than the past seven years we've shared."

More tears trickled down Ragini's face, however, this time; they were not tears of hurt but of anger.

"Can you honestly blame me for believing Shivani? How could I not? When you came into my life, I knew nothing about you. All I knew was that you were a wealthy bachelor who promised Ranvir to take his place after he died. I-I was so scared back then. I had no idea why someone like you would want anything to do with me. I was a widow with two children who depended on me, and there you were, just ready to take care of us. It seemed too good to be true, and you know what? For a long time, I thought it was too good to be true. I thought a morning would come where I would wake up and you would be nowhere to be found. And then Shivani shows up, and she's so beautiful, and sophisticated, and I can see why anyone would fall in love with her. And she tells me things about your past that I never knew, that I never bothered to ask. I really thought I was keeping you away from someone you loved and wanted to be with. I am sorry for falling into Shivani's trap, but it kills me that you think I would ever want to cause you pain. Giving you those divorce papers was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my entire life, but I did it because I thought it was what you wanted."

Ragini was now sobbing.

"When Ranvir and Sadhna died, my heart broke into a million pieces. But they left me with these two beautiful daughters who took my heart and put it back together, so that I- so that I could give it to you."

Anmol was simply stunned, but Ragini wasn't finished.

"I love you Anmol."
