Hi all,
Here seems to be a bunch of optimistic, matured and inspiring minds for this topic. 👏 👏 👏 ...🤗.So i start my views with special appreciation for Suchitra for posting this fantabulous topic and the honest -n- blooming minds like Shona and Ashrozia from the younger lot .....regarding the latter i would like to add a comment : Guys, i have met teens of your age, but none have such clear, straight, honest thinking and mature views as yours. U are even accepting that u need to yet implement those high thinkings of yours, which itself puts u on the roads of success... U made me captive with your views...... God bless u both...😊
Suchi, back to your topic.... though the topic is based on discrimination of gender or the colour, the other features like the height and weight also becomes a major target. I myself had been a victim of the height factor in my schoolish and teen days....( Now feel good, that helped me to emerge the positiveness in me...) In my teen phase I had friends one of whom was dark and the other darker. The dark one had a great persona and the shade never came in her way... , she got lots of attention from guys.... The darker one had everything in her except fairness but her darker shade was more obvious here the guys refrained from giving her any attention.(like the older version of Ragini.) Here I was complexed due to my height though i was fair.... I knew what the 2nd friend of mine was going through as feeling low about oneself is a big disease... But these lows made me read inspirational articles related to life and mature much early than my age. I started incorporating them in my life. I started encouraging my second friend too to be positive and accept ourself first as we are. Acceptance of oneself is the biggest truth in life. Once that gets done, we have won half the battle. Being the only daughter and my parents being conservative, i had to struggle to live life my terms. I started working on my hidden talents and the success and the adulation taught me many new things. I felt abilities, skills are not in all, these god given gifts are so rare. I felt great that God has given me so much and felt very thankful to him and regretted those one-to-one moaning-groaning sessions with god. No human is born perfect, either they lack in their appearance (which is visibly seen) or strength( mentality) or may be by character. Of all i felt being a person of character is what is more important and realised i had won many hearts .... people who accept me as i am today and value me in their life.... I feel change is the essence of life and experiences in life teaches and changes a person towards a much-much better person......👍🏼
Bani has said how her views about Sadhana has been attacked and even the other day i read comments like stop giving bhashans... i just wish to say Bani ignore those comments, never get carried away by people who oppose u, it is just their adulation for their favourites on one side and ignorance towards the other... never answer back or justify your statements.. just speak your mind always as u do .... Once again thankx suchi for such a wonderful topic which helped me to open out my heart and speak out the unspoken......😊

Your posting this topic in Bidaai forum is the most correct decision.... suchi... infact i just the other day went to read the update of yeh rishta and found not much of discussion topics, but just demand for either Naitik or romance between Naksh. They cannot even digest the current scenario in the Singhania family and are waiting for a disagreement happening between elders. A show which is aired to show how to solve the differences, but people expecting the other way from it...... i just cannot present my opinions or views in any other forum but only here.... bidaai..... as here i really felt we can think alike so much.....
Oops......sorry, Eva, if i went too much the yeh rishta way......

great work wid the post..i completely agree tht this mindset of people is hypocrytic to say the least..and there are poeple who simply LIKE lookin for faults..whether its complexion or height or how fat or thin the other person is..i am a very avg looking girl, quite short and not thin..am not fat bt look so coz of my height..and in 25 yrs of my life i ahve lost count of the comments i have received, not from friends or colleagues bt frfom 'family'..i put it in inverted commas coz i dnt count them as family bt they are part of the extended family...2nd cousins or door ke rishtedaars..and they are the most difficult to escape..there is esp one aunt, who simply HAS to make a comment whenever she visits..and am so used to expecting it tht its like waiting for the other shoe to fall...when i ws younger she used to actually look for times when either of my parents were not arnd to say sumthng to me coz my parents used to shut her up..now i do..hehehe...
what am trying to say is tht the society likes to talk n find faults..if sum girl is pretty also her achievements in life are attributed to her looks and not to her hard work..tht is how the hypocrisy shows..u simply cannot make the society happy no matter what u do..if ther are girls in the family sum1 has to say abt lack of sons even though 90% of the times its the girls who care and support the parents more..majority of the times girls score better in schools and colleges and do well for themselves..everyone needs and oppurtunity, tht it..and who says only sons are supports for parents in their old age??i am an only child..so are my parents widout any support?my mother has 5 siblings, one brother and 4 sisters..bt at the end of the day its the sisters to whom my nani turns for support coz my mami misbehaves wid her..the sad part is tht the society knows and sees it all bt still latch onto to wierd notions of the past which actually make no sense..if the girl is pretty,is it necessary tht she will make a better partner then an avg looking girl? if the guy is handsome is it a guarantee tht he will be a respectful, supportive partner?bt people dnt think of this..how often people select or reject alliances on the basis of photographs...tht i personally find stupid, not to mention insulting..and good riddance to people like this..couple of years back my ma had received a rishta for me asking for a "beautiful doctor" when i was studying..the "doctor" part was for the dowry aspect apparently..ma packed them off saying tht ths kind of family is the last i want for my daughter..if only more parents did this instead of cursing their and their daughters' fates..
anyways,i have made a pretty long post so thanx to whoever has read it full...lol..

Very true..👏 . In today's world people live for themselves and are turning self-centred. It's becoming more of me, myself than we, ourselves. If at all, one finds a person with good values , he is made out to be odd one out. Speaking truth /speaking our mind is become a question mark.... by speaking truth sometimes, one can land in difficulty. I remember at the age of 5, during my uncle's marraige, i was sitting on the lap of a lady(marraigable age) who was very close to our family and we were best of family friends. This lady on the pretention of tightening the screw of my chain, removed it and i saw her adjusting it in her hand. A naive kid , i was, i forgot about that incident and ran around playing. When my mother questioned me about the chain, i said it is with that aunty. She asked as to why i gave her. i said, i did not give, she removed it as the screw was loose. Beleive me, when my mother questioned her she refused it straight. She told her your daughter must be lying, i allready put it on her neck. There was a big commotion among the elders regarding this and i was questioned by so mnay people, but i just said the truth though i could sense the embarrasment scenario. Later we cut off all ties with family, but this one thing taught a great lesson, my parents stood for me and trusted and questioned that lady.... Many said, she is only a child, how can u rely on her words? My parents sensed i don't lie and they supported me . Possibly that trust of theirs in me helped me to continue telling truth... It also taught another moral, never trust people on their face value....
Again ......supporting a view can be mislead into favouritism towards a particular thing ; supporting 2 views will be termed diplomacy..... Why ?..is it not possible for the same individual to have 2 views for the same issue depending on 2 different circumstances.... but people never give somethings a thought. They just react to claim they are correct and the others are wrong...... Violence is expected to be returned only by violence. Non-violence ways of handling things are hardly practised. I mean talking about goodness reminded me of so many issues we ignore and survive.... we take our life for granted.....never think every breath we take is a boon from god and we need to justify it to the fullest......😊 Sorry if i went off topic.... errrrrrrrrr.

very nice topic 👏👏
although i don't say these kind of things didn't exist but surely i have seen some change in our society,(specially with IT sector booming in india) . I have many live examples in my family and friends to state about this new change .
one of cousins whom i always thought she will marry someone very handsome and rich guy because knowing her from childhood i thought she goes more on outer appearance rather than the actual goodness, but i was proved wrong when she married someone who was not goodlooking but is a gem of a person, her marriage gave me so much inspiration that these kind of things really happen and i really adore her for that .
And related to comparision between Boy/Girl ...well,my parents never ever differentiated between my sister/me and my brother, infact i was the only child in my family who was sent away from home to complete my studies and then for job ,i am very fortunate to get this support from my family considering i come from very small town and from middleclass background(where sending a daughter away is a big thing to do) and based on this my Chaha/Chachi too agreed to send their daughter in another city to pursue her higher studies .
And when i left my home and entered this big bad world on my own i found there were many more girls like me and all of whom came from different cities from very remote corners of india(and most of them were from backword states) to study and their parents also pretty cool about it .
considering all these facts i feel there is surely a change in mindset and it is just the beginning, i am hopeful of people getting better and better and with proper eductaion they will be enlighted and one day we will be successfull in eradicating this evil of our society

You are right Laxmi...
Suchitra's topic shows what quality she has👏....Sadia(shonaa) and Ashrozia are examples that there is lot of hope from this generation only, the depth they have at this young age is really appreciable 👏. I hope noone can contaminate their thoughts in the future...and that they grow to persons with loads of strength in their characters.
all the other people who participated and pressed the "like " button for this topic , thanks a lot for taking this discussion for so many pages...it was so different and so enlightening...I am happy that I belong to this forum and that there are so many wise people out here...

Laxmi, I appreciate your sharing with us your concerns and how you took it in a positive way. Like you, I'ld also anyday choose character over beauty or "hotness"....I believe in the statement....:when character is lost, everything is lost"...
