Peace Rally at Gateway Of India

In commemoration of the 26th November terror atack, television actors have decided to conduct a peace rally at Gateway of India this evening.

26th November 2008, a day that will remain etched in the memory of Mumbaikars for years to come. It was on this day that the terrorists attacked the financial capital of India. The attack cast a gloom over the entire nation and resulted in deaths of innocent people as well as able officers of the country.

Exactly one week after the ghastly act, actors from the television fraternity have decided to conduct a rally in commemoration of the victims of the blast. They will be gathering before Gateway of India this evening. The celebrity list includes Adita Wahi, Faisal Raza Khan, Chaitanya Chaudhary, Jennifer Winget, Abhir Goswami and the entire Sangam team among others.

Speaking about the rally, Akansha says, "It will be exactly one week since the attack happened and we, as television celebrities decided to gather near Gateway of India, the place where the blasts occurred, and conduct a peace rally. My grandfather is a social activist. He was the one who called me up and suggested about conducting a peace rally, in the Mahatma Gandhi way. I have even requested my friends from Delhi to join us in the rally."

The buzz is that Aamna Sharif will also be joining the rally.

Well, its now time to stand up for the nation and spread togetherness amongst all!!

Sangam to go off air!!

Sangam, the Star Plus show will be shutting shop in the first week of March..

Sangam, FOX Productions' show on Star Plus
has been on the 'Hit List' for quite sometime now with reports floating that the show might go off air in the near future!!

The show had taken an eight year leap few weeks back, and was on
road to a fresh story with few new characters introduced. However, there seems to be a setback to the plans, as the latest development is that Sangam will go off air very soon!

A very reliable source told us that, "There have been talks going on about Sangam wrapping up. We got to know of this on Saturday, and the actors have also been informed of this. However, the decision was taken today, and the channel wants to end the show in the first week of March".

"Sangam has been in the 'Hit List' for sure. But our TRP's have raised post the leap that was taken few weeks back. We have a good storyline coming but we don't know why, without any reason the channel is trying to close our show down. We now need to revise the story and end it accordingly", verbalizes our source.

The cast of the show includes Chaitanya Chaudhury, Jennifer Winget, Khushi Dubey...

We tried calling and texting Keertan Adhyantaya, GM and EVP, Star Plus for a confirmation, but we did not get any response from him.

Well, this is a sad news for fans of Sangam!!

Sangam to introduce a leap

A long running show is always incomplete without a leap which offers new twists and tales to the show. Keeping up with the trend is Star Plus' Sangam. The show is all set to take a leap of six to seven years which means that there will be new entries, an attempt to generate more viewership.

A source from the show informs, "There will be leap of six to seven years and three new faces will be introduced in the show. Two of them will be aged around 16 -17 who will essay the role of college going students and one will be a six year old kid. The shooting is expected to start from the third week of January and the leap will start airing from February."

So does this mean that the focus will now shift from the current leads Chaitanya Choudhary and Jennifer Winget to the new faces? "The leads would remain the same and in fact, the two stories will run parallel to each other. The two protagonists will help the story to move forward along with the new faces", quips our source.

Industry is also abuzz with the rumour that the show will go off-air in the early half of 2009. A source from industry says, "Sangam isn't doing as per expectations of late and the show is tipped to be pulled off in the first half of next year. The channel is planning to put an end to the slot completely."

"These all are baseless rumours. I have been hearing this every second day since the past six months. We are planning a leap and I don't see the show ending anytime soon," quips our source from the show.

When contacted, Chaitanya Choudhary too retorted, "The news is rubbish. I keep getting calls on a daily basis about the status of the show. We are not going off-air."

Well, we take you at your word, Chaitanya, but in an industry as unpredictable as ours, one can't be so sure about the fate of soaps!

Battle of the sexes
Jennnifer Winget and Chaitanya Choudhary

Girls are better cooks, but most chefs are men. Men are physically stronger but girls are more capable of getting what they want. So who is the better, the stronger, the more powerful of the two? The battle of the sexes has raged since Adam and Eve, but no one has ever been able to pronounce a verdict.

But that is exactly what STAR One is aiming to do with Zara Nachke Dikha ' a dance reality show that pits boys against girls in a bid to gauge who is better, at least when it comes to having the better pair of dancing feet.

Launched at the ITC Grand Central Mumbai on Monday evening, Zara Nachke Dikha will have eight boys and an equal number of girls trying to outdo each other on a dance stage over 11 weeks. "In a complete departure from the other dance reality shows seen on Indian television so far, Zara Nachke Dikha introduces the unique concept of pitting the men against the women, a format that is sure to capture the imagination of the audience," said Ravi Menon, EVP-GM, STAR One.

What will also set apart Zara Nachke Dikha from its predecessors is the novel process of elimination that STAR One and

producers SOL have hit upon. "The eight girls and eight boys will compete as two teams. Unlike other shows, there will be no elimination process every week. The weakest participant is penalised, but not eliminated, and the team will have to work doubly hard to get him or her back into the team," explained Menon.

The audience will have no say in terms of public voting with all the power vested in the hands of the judges till they come up with a final winner, or rather a winning team. Due to air sometime in mid July, the show producers are yet to decide on the host and the judges, but promise that they will be "the best in the business".

While Zara Nachke Dikha may boast of some uniqueness in its format, the participants are all familiar faces on television, many of whom have already tried their luck in one reality show or the other. The boys' team comprises Manish Goel, Chaitanya Choudhury, Gaurav Chopra, Amit Tandon, Vikas Sethi, Ali Asgar, Bakhtiyaar Iraani and child actor Amey Pandya. The girls in the battlefield will be Karishma Tanna, Maninee De, Rupali Ganguli, Jennifer Winget, Narayani Shastri, Mouni Roy, Delnaaz Paul and Swini Khara (little 'Sexy' of Cheeni Kum).

And they all have their reasons to participate in Zara Nachke Dikha. "This is my first reality show and there couldn't have been a

better debut for me than Zara Nachke Dikha," said Balaji man Chaitanya, while for television host and actor Maninee, the chance to rub shoulders with "some wonderful dancers and even better co-actors" was the reason.

But the clincher lay in the concept. "It's time we decided who is better between the girls and the boys," said one and all.

Santa's Day Out....

What would you want as a gift from Santa Claus on Christmas..Telly Buzz asked some of the stars the same, and got to know their Christmas plans....

"Jingle Bells Jingle Bells
Jingle All the way
Santa Claus is coming along
riding on its way"

It's Christmas, today on 25th December, and this is what we hear echoing all over the world.. And when mentioning Christmas, "Santa Claus" comes to our mind; the very elegant and fun filled guy with a red suit and red cap carrying a bag full of gifts for everyone... We caught up with some stars to know about their Christmas plans, and what they want from Santa this year...

Jennifer Winget:

How do you plan to celebrate Christmas this year?
I would like to keep it low profile this year, owing to the situation the city is in after the terror attacks. We normally go out and have a gala time, but this year we are having a small private affair at home. We will be going to the church. We have decorated our house and have a 5 ft Christmas tree. My grandmother has made yummy doughnuts too.

What is the gift you would ask for, if Santa comes to your house?
I would ask Santa to restore peace in the entire world. Also, on a funnier note, I want 2-3 months off and would want Santa to arrange for a world travel. I will want to see the best of places and travel the best way possible. That way, this will be a costly proposition for Santa (grins).

If you get an opportunity to dress up as Santa, who would you give gifts to and what would you gift?
Santa is Santa and I do not want to take his status..

Jennifer and Chaitanya The 'It' couple

Zara Nachke Dikha is reaching its final stages. The finale is just two weeks away, and there is some real-life romance budding on the show. Jennifer Winget and Chaitanya Choudhary are part of rival teams on the show, but they have been insisting that they perform together in the HumTum round (it's the only round where the rivals dance together). The choreographers and their teams haven't been allowing them to dance together due to various reasons like difference in their energy levels, abilities, their look together on stage etc. But the very-much-in-love jodi insists they will only perform together and not listen to anyone.
