Case Two: Part Three
"Ranveer, what else do you want?" cried his frustrated partner, Mallika. She simply couldn't believe that Ranveer was not satisfied even after Aaliyah and him uniting. Why did he keep brewing up hopeful thoughts that one day just one day...
Sighing, Ranveer threw the file in disappointment. "Having Aaliyah with me is good but... it just seems so different now... I mean-"
Mallika glared at him, repulsed. She couldn't believe that Ranveer, a man who was a hopeless romantic would not be satisfied by a confession she always dreamed about having with him. What else could he want? He had the perfect life he wanted and it was her who sat moping for him like a long lost puppy but yet she was satisfied to at least be near him.
Regaining his composure, anger struck him to the highest level. "She doesn't feel like Aaliyah! She's not my Aaliyah!" He sunk down into the couch, his head returning to his hands and his eyes closing in defeat.
And as he had anticipated, Mallika roared into laughter and fell beside him. Even though it sounded fake to his ears, he knew she still thought it was mildly funny.
"Seriously, Ranveer?" she asked, wiping the drool off the corner of her lip. "She's not YOUR Aaliyah? Well then she doesn't seem so true on this relationship-"
"Mallika..." he warned, glaring at her while she smiled dejectedly. "Look something is not right. Everything about her is just different. Her smell, her reaction, her behavior and even her... her hair!" He said in disgust wiping his mouth on his sleeve to demonstrate.
"That's because she cut her hair, Ranveer..." said Mallika, rolling her eyes. Men, she thought walking out the precinct to the Captain's office. It was best that he spent some time alone thinking about Aaliyah but she couldn't help as the small hope rose in her again. She turned around and smiled with sincerity at his sunk figure. No matter what, she would love him till the end.

In the darkness
"I just want to sleep. A coma would be nice. Or amnesia. Anything, just to get rid of this, these thoughts, whispers in my head. Did he rape my head, too?"
A troubled girl sat in the corner of the dungeon while an ominous shadow loomed overhead watching her weep.
And then a ray of light fell on her revealing the bruises on her slender body and she felt disgusted with herself. Just as the door slammed, Aaliyah knew she would never be the same person.

A few months later
"I'm quitting," whispered Aaliyah Hassan to the Chief who gasped in horror. He knew what happened but the girl who stood before him was no longer the one he cherished and joked around with. He watched the clothing hang out from her body while the permanent bags made her look ghostly and tortured. It was an agony to watch and he nodded in grief, sliding the resignation document towards her.
She managed a small, painful smile. "I'll remember you, Chief. Take care."
Sighing, he nodded and cowered his face away hiding his tears. In such small time, the family he had found at the precinct had broken apart. Again...

Aaliyah's Point of View
I felt as if I was safe. I no longer had anything to do with murderers, rapists, etc and I was safe. Just by signing that document had given me immense protection and that was enough for me to live through my now deep dark life.
Bumping into a hard chest, I didn't bother saying sorry and kept my head down walking from the person's side. I hope whoever it was would understand my introverted behavior and let it end there. But I guess I was wrong because that someone had just jumped in front of me blocking my way. Should I hyperventilate or should I look?
"Where are you going?" he asked me coolly, pulling me into an embrace. "I've just gotten you back... don't leave your rookie cop again." I wanted to smile at his kind gesture but I knew it was not enough to be bring me back. It would only weaken me... that's what emotions do.
"You'll live, tough cop," I said, keeping the act breathing his scent in. No wonder why Julia had fell in love with him... she even felt like falling in love with him but the mere thought scared her. She just wasn't good enough for him. For anyone...
Pulling away, he stroked my left cheek where a faint scar lay. "Look... we'll figure it out. Everything will be fine just... don't go." He grabbed my hands and placed them on his chest. On his heart. It was beating erratically and I wanted to believe him but he had not seen what the beast did to me.
And with fake harshness, I yanked them out of his grasp and moved past him. "It's over, Ranveer. Everything was over the day he took me... I just can't cope with this anymore. It's not in me... anymore!"
He punched the concrete wall before jumping in front of me. "You'll find it again, won't you? We'll find it again, Aaliyah! We'll find that... strength in you again! Don't let that SOB take your soul like this!"
"He already has," I replied, ominously watching his expressions flicker with confusion. Perhaps, if I told him he would think of me with disgust and maybe let me go. "He raped me! Is that enough for you to let me go now!?"
With tears pouring down my cheeks, I raced to my apartment and let everything fade. A monstrous sleep awaited me but it was better than the harsh reality of him not accepting me. And I let the nightmares conquer me once again...

And when a soft, warm embrace lulled me awake I felt like I was in heaven but everything came flooding back and I instinctively yelled shocking the man beside me. It was him. He was here and he was a nightmare which had come alive. Not again... not again.
"Stop, Aaliyah..." whispered Ranveer, his hands up in submission. "It's me... you are safe..."
Wiping the tears with anger, I glared at him. "Why do you keep coming back? Can't you see that I am not who you wanted me to!? Why won't you leave me alone!?"
He seemed hurt but he leaned towards me clutching my sweaty, scarred hand. And like that, he kissed it gingerly and pulled me towards him powerfully. And then it was a safe haven for me because the man I loved was kissing me. He had accepted me despite my flaws and... I knew I could trust him.
"I can't let you go because I love you," he said, huskily out of breath. "Always..." He kissed me lightly again on the lips waiting for a second before pulling a small shiny object from his back pocket. But I never felt him wear it on my ring finger until after the heated kiss.
"How does it feel to be a wife of a rookie cop?" he smirked, kissing my hand. I stared at the truth and love in his eyes but also fear at my reaction.
Grinning, I silenced him with a kiss and winked in amusement. "I get to call you that for life now, tough cop..."
Note: End! Case Three up next! And as for Julia... let's just say that is a mystery until next time. Take care! x By the way, quote is not mine! Solely goes to Laurie Halse Anderson! Amazing writer and this is from the book, Speak. Verrry sad book but also shows us the harsh reality of the dark sides of this world.
