BBarkha Bisht on her sizzling item song

Television actress Barkha Bisht, who shakes a leg to Ishq Barse in Raajneeti, is the latest television actress to jump on to the bandwagon of item numbers. We spoke to her about the experience of shooting for the song, her show, Sajan Ghar Jana Hai and the upcoming STAR Parivaar Awards.

What prompted you to the item song Ishq Barse in Raajneeti?
"Firstly, though it is an 'item number', let me clarify that it is an integral part of the film. I have no issues with it being called an item number but I would like to reinstate the fact that is is very situational, which is why I got all the more kicked about the entire idea. Besides, Prakash Jha had told me during the meeting that he wanted a face which looked modern yet homely and Indian and I fit the bill perfectly."

How was it interacting with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif?
"They were very sweet. Ranbir thought I was a great dancer and kept telling me that later also after the shoot, while Katrina has no ego and she was also very sweet. Its been great working with them."

You are most remembered for your serial Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam, so what do you have to tell about that show?
"I met my hubby, whom I fondly call Neil, while shooting for this show. I have fond memories as I met my life partner, who is also my best friend. I gained a lot of recognition from this show and it was a great experience working with all the actors."

How interesting is your role in Sajan Ghar Jana Hai?
I am playing the character of Dhani right now in the show. It has been very interesting because I have done a lot of stunts like hanging from tress and jumping from heights. I even got bruised all over, but it was fun because I have never done this before. Now I am wearing saris and jewelry, so now I have transformed into a bahu from daku. We just completed 200 episodes. My in-laws are very happy with my current avatar where I am dressed as a Bengali Bahu."

Do you identify with any of the characters that you have played?
"All of them have streaks of me but nothing has been a splitting image of my personality. In Sajan..I am an obedient bahu, though I am not exactly like that in my real life, home will always be my priority."

Are you looking forward for STAR Parivar awards 2010?
"Oh yes definitely and I am happy that this year we have completed 10 years."
