First of all, criticism is not bad. It helps people grow and develop. However when criticism turns into meaningless bashing, then no one benefits.

I think everyone has noticed the various comments that have been made towards a certain actress on the show. Some of the comments refer to her acting abilities (weaknesses, strengths, what we would like to see, etc). And some of the comments are just plain bashing (destructive criticism) that attacks the actress and doesn't bring a productive discussion.

To realize what is a big difference between construcitve criticism and plain bashing. Here is an article: http://expertscolumn.com/content/constructive-and-destructive-criticism

This is a good quote to summarize bashing/destructive criticism

"Destructive criticism does no one any good ...Basically it is just short** and coarse comments that have no redeeming value to anyone with language that should not be repeated within polite company. They tell you nothing and help no one."

**They're not always short though 😛

Glad you appreciated it hun.
I understand, there's been a lot of misunderstandings lately and I'm sure some will take this thread the wrong way too.

Oh well. C'est La Vie 😛

Thanks for sharing!!

I agree with your points. Talking about the weaknesses in any actor's portrayal of a character or what we feel they could improve given time and guidance is all good, especially if people are able to discuss what they feel should be improved.
Making comments about appearance however cannot be termed constructive criticism. I like Dev and enjoy her portrayal but no one's perfect and there are aspects of Gopi's character that she needs to grow into. I felt the same when Giaa was portraying Gopi. She did a great job but at times she could have done things differently.
I love Nazim but there were times where he was very stiff and his accent was pronounced. It's only very recently that he has become noticeably more animated.

Dev is doing well and hopefully the feedback she gets will help her improve her performance further.

thanks for the article dear...

well again there is a thin line of difference between constructive and destructive criticism... as Nazma said.. any criticism about the actor's.. personal life or her professional choices are deemed to be destructive ...which does no good

and i loved the line which says the one who are into destructive criticism are like the toddlers throwing tantrums to seek attention ...

i wish people to be more thoughtful as where the line of criticism ends and where the line of bashing starts

I think people are more intelligent on this forum than you think. But thank you for providing a definition so that those who don't know the difference between constructive critisism and bashing may take note. I hope that those who adore the new actress will realise that not all of us are bashing the actress but simply discussing her acting ability. And those who don't like her will hopefully express themselves clearly as to what they don't like about her without bashing her.

Yes, there are those wise people who think that if you say anything negative about the new girl then it's bashing.

agree.. i dont think anyone was really bashing dev, if they said that devs acting isnt good or she doesnt suit gopis role then thats deff not bashing. some ppl cant distinguish between bashing or small criticism.. any small thing being said to the new actress, they hit the report button and the thread gets closed, if u notice, only dev appreciation threads are open topics, but there cant be any dev criticism or giaa apprecration because the topic will end up closed
