define strong. it is not only physical strength but metal strength. gopi is mentally strong. if you thing this show is regressive, i m sorry to say that you dont know the reality. there are more women who are in worse situation than gopi.
the reason why this show is no 1, because it gopi does not want money, luxuary, freedom but love.
the basic problem in today's world is we dont have enough love to give others.
gopi's struggle to gain love is a heart touching story. most people, particuarly women like this aspect. i dont know from which country you are from, but in india were most marriages are arranged, womem learn to leave a loveless life. so her stuggle to get the love of her mother in law and her husband reaches the audience.

hey i think u misunderstanded my comment i only wrote from

so my take on ur complaints

1. regressive : if the show is regressive they will not show the importance of education... they turned an illiterate girl into an educated one today she can read and write few English words, sign her name, etc... it promoted the importance of education irrespective of the age... and the credit for that goes to her husband... he has given her education which stays with her till the end

2. female protagonist not strong : yeah as shruti said she may not be physically strong ... but she is strong, patient, intelligent in her own way... she saved her husband from snake... she saved the family from thieves... she save herself from kidnappers... she saved her sister from kidnappers risking her own life...do u still think she is not strong ... she is so strong that she can bear anything t see her husband and her family happy... she is sooo strong that she never ever has ill-feelings to anyone...even if they did the worst to her... she is the one influencing her husband to think about the importance of family...isn't she a strong and positive influence in his life

3.lead pair is'nt sizzling hot : i think u have not seen the show... Gopi and Ahem chemistry is always visible on screen... they don't need words to talk ... they understand each other thru their eyes...they speak volumes with their eyes...even when Ahem was rude to her.. their was a strange chemistry between them...they might be in between a group of people but their mere presence together on the screen is enough for gohem lovers... their relation is slowly changing which is awesome...

this is not a bollywod movie to have a sizzling hot lead pair... it's a 7:00 p.m. show which u watch with ur family in ur living room...

4.never moves forward :the showing is moving forward... importance of education... importance of a true saathiya in a married life...shows u that u get whatever sow ... it shows whatever goes around comes around...and it shows u have to adjust with whatever u have in life (kinjal though from rich family is trying t adjust with her in-laws who are not rich)

and to prove it they have TRPs...

I love my fix of Saathiya because I can see a mother-in-law that is very strong has maximum authority in the house and bahu's listen and do as they told, these days modern girls would not, but that's part of charm.

I'm extremely modern myself in my outlook life and very outspoken but I still love Gopi, because she goes about things differently to win people over...so I appreciate her the way she is, off course I get annoyed particularly in the past when she would just cry when bad things were happening to her, but bearing in mind all the circumstances, it was better for her to not act...if I'm not making sense it's because you have to have watched the serial in it's entirety to get all the storyline and what it's all culminating to.

I agree with you Nafisa. I got fed up with watching English soaps that I couldn't really connect with even though I have been here all my life. SNS has the Cinderella complex for me and that is what has drawn me to this.

To be honest I can't put my finger on why I love this show so much and why I can't wait to see the newest epi everyday and then go crazy over the weekend because I can't wait to see what happens. I can tell you where it started for me. It started with Kokila Paragh Modi for me. I just loved her charakter instantly. She is a no-nonsense person, who will go all out to protect her family, who is there to look after her bahu (GoKi rlationship) which I truly adored. I mean I am sure there are sweeter saas' out there. For example Hetal but I like the fact that Koki is such a tough cookie on the outside and soft on the inside, because if the moment comes and she lets on her soft side this is just perfect and really touches your feelings, whereby if it happens all the time there is nothing special about it. I loved the fact that she wasn't falling for all the kalakari's happening and that she follows her instincts and always fights for justic, even if that means that she has to stand up to other family members until they finally see her wisdom. (okay now I stop talking about Koki because I could go on for ages to come😆)

Another charakter I like is Gopi because she is something different to other heroines of indian serials. Don't get me wrong I wished more then once that she would finally get her brain back or start using it but somehow her not doing it is kind of cute as well. I like the fact that she is a really good human being, who puts the well being of others before herself and that life has not yet been able to pull her down. If you think about what all happened to her in her childhood and then in her in-laws house it is amazing that she still is not a broken woman. She is strong, but her strength goes inwards and not outwards, which is sometimes hard to watch at times.

In reagards to the complains about the abusive behaviour of Ahem (if you want to call it this. I personally go with Shilpa's opionion. Abuse is something else. Was the slap alright? No of course not and I am impatiently waiting for the day Ahem will understand how wrong he was and feel aweful for it!!) You gave us an example and asked what we would tell the woman. Well first this is not such a situation that you can just compare all similar situations with it. each situation will be unique. But I would never tell the woman to hold on and wait for her hubby to change. However if this was a one time off and that is for sure there should be chances for a new start but only if it is clear to both that violence like this is not an option and is never to be repeated. I am talking here only about a slap and not a bone fracturing one. But to be honest you have to know where both are coming from, how it ended up in the use of violence and so on. Can't just give an opinion by the little you provided. Secondly I just love (being sarcastic here) how people always want to compare real life to reel life. They don't have anything in commen. In real life people don't take ages to walk out a room, in real life people would be able to hear a phone conversation happening two feets away from them and blooper hospitals wouldn't exist. Do you really think that people take soaps so seriously that they say oh look if you push a paralized person down a slop on a wheelchair heading for a fence, river, street or whatever this person will start walking again to save herself so lets do that. Do you really believe there are woman who watch the serial and decide to just do as Gopi does? I have a hard time believing this and to be honest you can switch the tv on and watch any show and surely find something you hope nobody will do like that in real life. such is television I am afraid to say.

👏 Fantastic..You've put into words what I could not articulate. I started with this serial because of Gopi but then fell in love with Kokila. And another main pull for me towards saathiya is also the way that the family is shown. A loving elder brother who has his younger brother's family under one roof. An accommodating SIL who considers her devarani's children as her own. A practical Kokila who is strict but soft, who loves her family and protects it. The underlying relationship between the family members. Except for Urmila who is 🤢.. there is no one else who is outright evil.. A very believable love story and ever improving portrayals by the actors..

I think at the end of the day when viewers find that resilience as shown by dumb Gopi and her ability to see goodness in everything and everyone, wins the family or others and resolves the issue also manages to win the audience although we continue to critique her- whenever there is a problem and Gopi is shown as resolving it through her good ways that keeps the show going along with others who play their roles brilliantly.
The drawback of the show is that Gopi acts dumb and lacks crititcal thinking when it is a matter or problem that attacks her or when someone like Urmi or Rashi do evil acts against her . Even through these acts continue and Gopi remains dumb, the audience hopes one day Gopi will be shown as smart and capable of judging people. No one is able to tolerate when there is an injustice done to Gopi ; though illiterate she manages graciously and is shown as a highly intelligent learner. I think it is the few good people shown as necessary in a world filled with selfish individuals who will go to any length to accomplish their purpose that keeps it going and all through a family story line. There could be improvements though, to the show and to the characterisation overall.

Respect your opinion. But I would not agree that Gopi is dumb.. She has an unfathomable belief in humans. She looks at people and judges them the same way she looks at herself. She has been abused from an young age and she is afraid of her Maami. She loves her Raashi ben because Raashi has always projected herself as a sister who cares for her. Hence she cannot bring herself to think wrongly about Raashi. Even when she finds Raashi at fault, she accepts it as a character flaw in Raashi.
You do not hate or dislike somebody for their faults. Love is to accept them with their mistakes. Gopi does just that. To the extreme yes. But that is who she is. She is an orphan and her Maami and her Raashi ben are the only family she knows other then her Maama. Why would she think her Maami is evil?

Ok,Let me do an attempt to clear your doubt why SNS is No.1?

The natural behaviour is we love the people who loves us and obviously we hate the one who hates us.But what i observed in this show is the repeated recurring attempt of an innocent girl who loves her husband though hated.Don't you think it is very difficult to love the one who hates you? This serial is mainly based on truth, patience and it will let you know how to like people who hates you by your great character-forgiveness.

Now,let me come in your way,plz you tell me if SNS doesn,t deserved to be No.1 then how is it possible to have highest TRP,S everytime. If it doesn't deserve it should get dowm it is not possible for any show to be always NO.1 .

One more thing i would like to mention. I watch SNS because i am very much inspired by ahem/nazim.i Love to watch his expressions his dedication and respect towards his mother and i too love the chemistry between gohem.I am addicted to watch him.If they show only his face throughout the epi,i love to watch SNS without commenting.
