One thing that is bothering me the most is that how can Gopi have never asked about her parents before. You are telling me a grown woman like Gopi never asked her Mama who she is close to about her parents. Like when they died, how they died, how my mom was how my dad was. I mean those are curious questions that any orphan child might want to know about their parents. I swear sometimes these CVs think up the most stupid things. And as for as I can remember, she once before was looking at the picture and was crying, I think when Koki took it away, wasn't it mentioned sometime ago that they died in a car accident. Well how can that be the same day that she was born? You don't even get permission to leave the hospital the same day a mother gives birth to a baby, its usually the next day at the earliest. So hello!! Well maybe its just to much thinking...i guess they wanted to make it simple...I don't know anything else, but I truly and honestly hope Rashi gets in trouble for this one.

I think maybe Urmila would have prevented Gopi from knowing anything about her parents

well i'll just post another fiction example..
remember Harry Potter...In the first book how much Harry wanted to know how his parents were..how they died, when they died, etc etc... but one of the earliest things he learned at the Dursleys is 'Don't ask questions'...well i'm just giving an example...n the 10yr old Harry wasn't as innocent as this 18 year old Gopi...so it is pretty viable that she really never got to know..cz the Gopi they showed in the 1st few epis (b4 marriage) never talked even as much as she does now..

also here her mami is controlling her mama so she probably never allowed him to have a puja on their shraadh..never considered it important to tell her...
anyway we r probably reading too much in to it i guess...

but who said she needed to ask urmi?? She is real attached to her mama... I am sure they talked n bonded... I find it hard to believe that at the age if like 23-24 she still doesn't know?? N harry potter was a bit different... It was related to a secret vs here which is a fact... When and how her parents died. There is no deadly secret behind her parents or mamaji would never even allow her to keep picture of her parents. I think its dumb... Well I hope Rashi continues to regret what she said... I have a word or two for here which I can't post... Darn! 😡

No yaar, you're only looking at it from the ambience you're familiar with.

In some family atmospheres it is very possible not to know, not to ask. My cousins are like that - they lost their mother very young and father married again. Somehow it became taboo to talk of their mother and they didn't know anything about her. They were really wanting to know more about her, how she was, etc but were so scared to ask.

It is very possible if you look at it in context.

Gopi wouldn't have asked about the death specifically as it's a morbid discussion, and she is very much still a child and everyone around her thinks of her as such, even Mahma (Jithu), as a result, she would not have been told this or she would never ask to be told this (the specifics, parents died in what circumstances and dates of when they died it's a mobid discussion).

Also look at Gopi's character, don't you think she blames herself for everything? Aham sleeps late, it's my fault, Aham shouts at her decorating the room, it's my fault, Aham slaps her and tells her you never told me you were unperdh (illiterate), she tells Hetal the day after I'm a liar even though her response should have been to be upset with Aham for doing this to her and keep on saying again and again to anyone that would listen to her that I told him before marriage on such and such a day (he was not listening but thinking of Anita)...So I think her character takes the blame even though it's not her fault. Similarly with now with Rashi, Rashi told her this on her birthday and she puts her feelings of happiness aside to feel she was at fault for her parents, who died in a car accident, it's irrelevant on what day they died really, it should not keep on impacting on the one's that are living.

They is a word for Gopi in this instance it's called self effacing tending to make her actions appear inconspicuous because of humility, timidity and modesty.

I get what ur saying but again the situation isn't the same, there is a step-mother involved. Uget what I am saying? Ur cozinz were afraid coz one they don't want to hurt the step mom or they already know that it creates a uncomfortable situation. Here gopi had no such thing to worry about except evil urmi. And urmi wouldnt have hid something like this that she can use to abuse gopi. She would have used it over n over, Gopi would have heard about it all her life. But she didn't. In fact, Gopi doesn't even realize that mama called here first thing to wish her, had it been his sisters death anni... He to would have been in mourning. I think what bugs me the most is why does Gopi always believe the first thingthat comes out of everyone's mouth...??? She annoys me yaar

i guess u analyzed it pretty well..all she knows is that they died n a car accident when she was a baby..n no specifics...also u r correct she is still very much a child n every1 who really cares about her also still considers her to be one..n there probably never came a chance where jitu bhai told her all the specifics..

also at others who r saying she has to know the date..urmi probably never allowed to keep a puja on their real shraadh...so how would gopi know enough to figure out rashi lied to her? all she heard was that her parents died on this day..n she is to be blamed for it,,she never thought anything more abt it other than thinking she should be ashamed to want to celebrate on this day...:((
