hey ! actually, in many parts of India, for eg. Rajashtan, Gudjrat and in many villages, a widow getting remarried is considered a sin. I don't understand the logic behind it. but sadly, it still happens in India.
It's very discriminating. If a man's wife died, he is sympathised with and can get remarried. But if a woman becomes a widow, she's looked down upon. She's not even allowed to PUT MAKEUP or dress up fancily and be deprived of playing Holi. Her presence is also considered inauspicious in some occasions. It's just ridiculous. They make it seem as if she had murdered her own husband.
But in this show, other than the focus being on a widow getting remarried, the fact that the driver Dhananjay is of a lower status than Buasa's family makes things worse. Think about it, if someone like Nahar or someone as rich as Nahar were to ask for Buasa's hand, i think her family would eventually agree to her marriage.
So ya, money is power.
