hey ! actually, in many parts of India, for eg. Rajashtan, Gudjrat and in many villages, a widow getting remarried is considered a sin. I don't understand the logic behind it. but sadly, it still happens in India.

It's very discriminating. If a man's wife died, he is sympathised with and can get remarried. But if a woman becomes a widow, she's looked down upon. She's not even allowed to PUT MAKEUP or dress up fancily and be deprived of playing Holi. Her presence is also considered inauspicious in some occasions. It's just ridiculous. They make it seem as if she had murdered her own husband.

But in this show, other than the focus being on a widow getting remarried, the fact that the driver Dhananjay is of a lower status than Buasa's family makes things worse. Think about it, if someone like Nahar or someone as rich as Nahar were to ask for Buasa's hand, i think her family would eventually agree to her marriage.

So ya, money is power.

I cant understand whats all the fuss about? They are showing so many people opposing Widow remarriage. Whats wrong in a widow getting remarried?

One hilarious thing is , even Saloni's sister subhra is shown against it. I mean, common, she was forward enough to get pregnant before marrige, eloping and all, then how come suddenly she is thinking about widow remarriage being a sin and all???? I fail to understand.

I think it is ok in the city to remarry widows. I have seen friends get remarried after their husband passed away. But yes in rural area people still believe that widow should stay widow and not remarry.

Hey any one knows what sati pratha is. In old time when someone's husband dies the widow had to sit on pyre and burn alive. Now It is against law. But once in a while some lady decides to be sati and people still go to pay respect. They think she is too pious Like Devi. Isn't that crazy?

well as we all know there are always some people who agree and some people who disagree. and still in some regions people are against to remarry widows, but may be as people are getting modern and more broadminded day by day thay will also accept the concept pf widow remarrage....but i think it might take some time.

just like when in the olden day people wanted to have boys and used to drown girls in milk or water and then poeple got over that and they will get over this too.

ok this is just my opinion.

Ritu still people wants boys and abort girls even in today's India. I lnow quiet a few people. Unfortunately dowry system still exist eventhough it is against the law. and so If you have more daughters then you hav eto have lot of moeny to pay dowry. So poor and middle class people just donot want to have daughters. If they do then they abort. Too sad.

Yes, but it is more with poorer sections of society - not so much with middle class....

I disagree with that I even know some people with lot of money do that. even in big cities. It does not come out that much. But believe me it happens.

Probably it does... It happens in the US too sometimes....But I am talking of the "general" more oft occuring scenario.
