Jodis to vote out other jodis on NB 2

High voltage drama...controversies...and surprises...Episode 2 of Nach Baliye 2 witnessed it all! The contestants, judges, hosts and the audience were all left bewildered as a new element was added to the already existing format of the show!

It was the first elimination day for the jodis of season 2 when after all the performances (on village theme) it was time for the announcement of votes received. Till the eight contestants were shown way to the suraksha chakra everything went smooth. But then the channel threw a googly!

It was revealed that the fate of the left out two jodis (with least votes) will be decided by the remaining eight jodis, as they will have to vote out one!!! This caused fireworks amongst the safe couples as they were too attached to all. The openly voiced their grievances on such a format and many even threatened to not be a part of this voting!

But as it was the new norm to be followed, the star jodis finally opted not to be upfront about their choice and relented for a silent vote-casting process to decide who should be in.

The new twist - a lifeline been given to the couples who stand on the verge of being eliminated by the contestants who are already in the 'suraksha chakra'.

How does it work???
1) The couples complete their dance performances and get the scores from the judges

2) One by one couples get into the Suraksha Chakra based on 50:50 votes i.e. by judges and the audience till the final 2 are left

3) The fate of the remaining 2 couples are decided by the remaining jodis in the Suraksha Chakra

4) The jodis have to cast a silent vote for the couple who they think should be a part of Nach Baliye 2

5) In case of a tie, the judges will cast their silent votes and decide the fate of the contesting jodis!

Just one ceetee and many surprises on episode 2 of NB 2!

They returned with a bang! The maiden episode of season 2 of Star One's Nach Baliye did manage to grab eyeballs of the telly junta and was highly discussed - be it for the melodrama caused by Shweta Tiwari, or the poor scores earned by senior jodi Ketki-Raski or Malaika's teensy but sexy ensemble!

And now in the second episode the pressure was to ameliorate or at least live up the hype generated by the previous telecast. We decided to be right there on the sets and check out the real hungama!

Here's a sneek peek as well as a low-down of episode two of NB 2 which will be telecast on Monday. The theme being 'village' to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

We were bedazed to see the set which was beautifully adorned with khats and golden matkas, thus keeping up with the theme. Also the choreographers were assembled in traditional outfits as the telecast will co-occur with Dussehra.

After roping in the title holders, Sachin-Supriya last week, the channel opted for a reverse countdown and brought in Rohit-Mansi (the first jodi to be eliminated last year) to anchor the show. They couple performed on gori hain kalaiyan and definitely has better sense of rhythm this time around!

Malaika looked ravishing as usual in an embellished orangish -ivory tunic (again sans the pants, thankfully!). Kunal Kohli made an intentional effort to add more words to his vocab after receiving flak for repeating 'energy' and 'chemistry' umpteen times. And Saroj Khan chose to be stricter with the contestants as she evaluated each performance microscopically when it came to technique.

And finally we come to the star performers! Here's the list of songs they danced on

Ladies day out!
Yash and Gauri Tonk were dressed too simple, especially the lady who seemed to have picked up the ghaghra choli from a local market! But she covered up with her aadayein and once again overshadowed her hubby. The same happened in case of Hussain - Tina where the latter took over the laurels from all the judges. Gurdeep too grabbed many a compliments for being a consistent batsman, leaving her requesting the judges to shell out some good words for her husband too! And yes, this jodi took over the title of the 'cutest couple' from Sharad-Keerti!

Disappointment galore!
But it was a hellish day for Saroj Khan's baby doll Keerti and Sharad (they scored 14 points, the lowest for the day). The jodi tried to divert from their cute image, and opted for raunchy moves on ishq kamina. But their steps were a direct lift from the original song! In fact Saroj Khan took the choreographers task and blasted him by commenting, "mujhe Farah Khan wala dance nahin tumhara imagination chaiye".

Last times highest score holders, Bhaktiar-Tanaz couldn't live up to the expectations of the judges and earned 27 points, reason being Bhaktiyar's hyper enthusiasm which worked for him last time but it backfired this time! In fact Malaika adviced him to pop a chill pill!!! And once again there was a tie between Raja - Shweta (she looked tacky in a netted zardosi ghaghra choli). Though Raja did manage to come out of his wife's shadow and shook a leg or two. Was it because his papa was whistling for him in the audience?

Surprise, surprise!
After being rebuked last time for her manly moves, Shweta Kawatra stepped on the battle field with cramped nerves but emerged a winner! She impressed one in all with her graceful and coy movements. In fact, Malaika stated that she finally danced like a lady. But the icing on the cake was Saroj ji's compliment, "you remind me of Vyanjantimala!" And Manav didn't go unnoticed too, thanks to his mouche ala Shahrukh in Paheli. The poor scorers of last time, Hiten-Gauri pleased the judges with their latkas and jhatkas, especially Hiten who did a dhinchak 'churiya' step!

But it was last times lowest scorers, Ketki - Rasik who received a standing ovation from the critical trio! Dressed like Kashmiris, they performed on meri jaan valle valle, hence putting them to ease as the song belonged to their era.

The only ceetee winners!

Jodi
no 1 proved true to their allotted number! Dressed in shocking yellow, the duo gyrated on a Govinda number prem jaal main. And must say, Gaurav did full justice to the song with his comic timing and pelvic thrusts! Saroj Khan was so moved by his act that she even gave her most treasured aashirward to the hunk.

And so who was in and who was out????? We'll conceal the suspense as too much of anything is harmful, as someone had once quoted!

Sharad, Keerti fire choreographer

Sharad and Keerti
After Gurdip and Arjun Punjj, it's Sharad and Keerti Kelkar's turn to fire their choreographer.

Earlier, they worked with Kiran, who's now been replaced by Deepali Vichare. It's reported that the duo were unhappy with their choreography and have asked for a change.

Confirming this, Sharad said, "He was very arrogant and I didn't like the way he functioned. At the end of the day, our performance is important because that's what the judges rate us on."

Andar ki baat
Some interesting tid-bits from the second episode:
Rohit and Mansi Roy have hosted the second episode
Shweta Tiwari and Raja have scored well again
Gauri and Hiten need not fear elimination, for they've secured enough support from the public
Some contestants are angry that Sachin and Supriya referred to Hiten and Gauri as Karan and Nandini (their screen names in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi). They feel this will bring more support for them
Yash Tonkk was furious over Raja getting comments from the judges, while his improvement went unnoticed

Saloni bonds with Parvati
By: Tushar Joshi
October 13, 2006

Rajshri Thakur and Sakshi Tanwar

They may be on screen rivals competing wih different shows on different channels, but off screen they have become the best of friends. Recently, Rajshri Thakur, Sakshi Tanwar and Kanchi Kaul went on a trip to the US by invitation to meet some Non-Resident Indians.

This being her first trip to the country, Rajshri was excited about visiting there. "I was there for six days and went to Houston, Chicago and some other places. Even though most of the time was spent travelling from one state to the other, we did manage to have a good time."

Gelled well

Talking about her special friendship with Sakshi, she says, "I bonded really well with Sakshi. She's such a good human being and a fun person. I always watched her as Parvati, but on this trip I got to know the person behind the character."

When asked to narrate the most memorable part of the trip, Sakshi says, "I think visiting the Niagra Falls stood out as my favourite moment. It's just so beautiful; we took a ride in the Maid of the Mist, which is a boat ride and it goes right next to the Falls. I think everyone should visit the Falls."

During her stay, the actress also celebrated her birthday on September 22. "I don't know how these guys found out. They got me a cake and we had a little celebration."

Did she miss her fianc Sanjot on her birthday? "Yes, I did. He's quite busy with his work. He called up and wished me that day."

Getting hitched

After postponing her marriage date for a while, she has finally zeroed down on February as the month she will tie the knot. "I think it's high time I get married. Because of work and both our schedules conflicting, the date keeps getting pushed ahead. But February is confirmed."

Another highlight of her trip was meeting some special fans. "I met this child who was in a wheelchair, and another aged man who, too, was physically challenged. It was quite an emotional moment for me to meet and greet these fans."

Does she get time to watch her co-star Sharad Kelkar dance on Nach Baliye 2? "I'm dying to watch it. I haven't seen a single episode till date. But I am quite curious to see him dance."

Sharad Kelkar is a supportive husband

Sharad and Keerti Kelkar didn't exactly have fun in the last two episodes of Nach Baliye 2. After being called a cute couple in the first round, they were criticised for their dance moves and both had shed bucketful of tears on camera in round two. Then their choreographer Kiran Giri lashed out against them and blamed their lack of dedication as the reason for their low scores.
Everyone said that Keerti shouldn't have blamed the choreographer for their exit, but Keerti was apparently too disheartened and didn't care about anyone while she commented that they were ousted because their choreographers answered back the judges. Even Sharad felt that Keerti was a little too harsh. But the kind of supportive husband that he is, he stood behind his wife.
"I wanted to sort it out with him. I even told him that we could speak to Keerti in the night and sort it out but he had an attitude problem. Even Saroj ji said that we were good with our dance and only the choreography wasn't great," he says. Well Sharad, it's nice to know that you are as caring for your wife in real life as you are on screen. But what about the poor choreographer who is getting blamed for nothing.

Aditi caught in a pyjama!

Aditi Pratap had a rocking time at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi but the actor also had a rather embarrassing mishap one of the days. Aditi was caught up outside her room in pyjamas late in the night until a tourist came to her rescue.
"I was very tired of shooting the entire day. After my dinner, I stepped out to keep my food tray outside the room, since I didn't want to wait till morning for it to be cleared out. And as luck would have it, the door shut behind me and it was such an embarrassing situation for me with all celebs and models around me looking as if I was some alien in distress. Since, I was in my pyjamas, I was embarrassed to go down to the reception for the keys but eventually there was someone who helped me out of this funny situation," smiles Aditi who is currently been seen in Saat Phere.

Going traditional during diwali

Diwali is an occasion which no one wants to miss celebrating but in today's
times, with the fast pace of life, it has become just another extended
weekend where people look for getaways or else go out for dinner or watch a
movie. But Gita Hari stumbled upon some television actors who still believe
in celebrating the joyous festival of lights in all its traditional glory, replete with pujas and the exchange of goodies.

Apara Mehta: The famous Savita Bhabhi and Tulsi's ma-in-law of Kyunki… is a typical Gujarati and believes in tradition to the T. "For Dhanteras,I have gifted myself, rather exchanged my old Indica car for Indigo. Though
we buy sweets I have my maid prepare chivda and a few mithais at home as well as it is customary to do so. If I get the time, I will personally decorate the house with rangoli and diyas"

Inspite of being separated from her husband and theatre actor Darshan
Jariwalla, she spends the day with her in-laws as she says, "I am modern in
thinking but very traditional at heart. I still go to my in-laws' place at
Santa Cruz to take their blessings. We Gujjus have fixed lunch and dinner
for Diwali - for instance, if I am invited over for lunch at my jethani's
(sis-in-law) place, they come over to my place for dinner. I believe Diwali
is the time to be with your kith and kin." Does that include Darshan as
well?
Elaborating further, she reveals, "Yes, Darshan too comes to his parents'
place and as always I will invite him over. It is a marriage of 25 years and
I am still waiting for him."

Ketaki Dave: She recently made waves when she participated with husband Rasik Dave in Nach Baliye on star One but is still remembered best for her performance as 'Arara..ra..raa' of Kyunki ki.. Ketaki too celebrates Diwali in a traditional manner as she gets into the details, "on Dhanteras we doLakshmi Pujan and Rasik has gifted me a pair of diamond earrings and a diamond finger ring for our daughter Riddhi. My maharaj (cook in Gujarati)
has prepared kaju katli, mohantal, chakli and chivda." The next day that is the fourteenth day (chaturdashi) the actor will prepare dal vadas and inkeeping with the time honoured custom, they will take it to the crossing of char raastas without uttering a word and throw it there to ward off evil. On Diwali day they perform chopda puja and of course the rangolis, diyas and
sparklers.

She has bought a salwar-kameez for her daughter and a lovely, sequined sari
and a gorgeous salwar-kameez for herself. Rasik does not go for traditional
clothes, so it is a pair of trousers and shirt for him. And And she has already begun to receive gifts, the first one has come from her designer Rezda, "a
beautiful 5-diya aarti filled with sweets," she enthuses while Rasik
jovially reminds her that it is his gift that came first!

Indira Krishnan: Though this south Indian beauty may be playing mother Meera to Kanchi Kaul in Ek Ladki Anjaani si on Sony Tv and Neela to Parak Madan in Saathi Re but is quite young herself. Still she believes in observing the
rituals of the festival like, "being a Tamilian, I will take the ritual oil bath and spend the day with my husband and my mother, who prepares South Indian sweets and savouries." Her Maharashtrian husband Rajesh Ranshinge, who directs Akela on Sony, took her out for dinner and gifted her a gold bracelet from D'damas for Dhanteras. Her Rajasthani cook has made karanjis and mohantal and Diwali day she says, "I will draw rangolis, light fancy diyas and distribute home-made sweets among friends." This lovely lady is looking forward to spending time with her husband as she is busy shooting on other days.

Rupa Divatia: This elegant lady who played mother to the famous Abhay Kapoor of Kkusum on Sony, is in real life quite fond of Nausheen and Anuj Saxena whom she considers as her own children and, "I normally give gifts to them and this year too we have planned to have a small get-together. Usually I go to Ahmedabad to be with my parents and my in-laws. We do Sri Puja, being a
Gujju, I do Swatika rangolis, decorate the house with thorans and light diyas." Rupa decks herself up with traditional saris and jewellery on all four days and buys a gold coin on Dhanteras. On the goodies front, she has dhudhi halwas and coconut barfis and farsans prepared at home
