But the context is different.. And using this as a slogan for the mentor is more like driving a parody..In fact VHP should be opposing it not others..😆 Why should it matter.. ? If Rafi said Bhagwan (and not allah) so many times in his O duniya key rakhwale where the.lyrics were by shakeel and music by naushad!!!!!!!. a whole muslim trio!! people didnt make a fuss of it.. cause teh audience and singers both were mature or mature professionals... this whole thing makes me slightly more proud of indian muslims for their broad mindset...all said, the modern mindset is aberrated and twisted.. especially after I read some of the opinions in this thread on har har mahadev...for all that I feel good about this gal who is not reeling under peer pressure and dares to voice her concern about her dress thats perfectly alright though I still feel, given her traditional looks nobody is going to ask her to wear anything but traditional outfits..
bhagwan is a very general term that simply refers to god. according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhagavan, "Bhagavan is in many ways analogous to the general Christian conception of God." as long as a person believes in god, saying bhagwan shouldn't be a problem at all. i don't mind saying bhagwan myself. however, when you are forced to say stuff like "har har mahadev," which is said in reference to a particular god, then it becomes a problem for nonbelievers.
personally, i don't understand why people are so against sara refusing to say "har har mahadev." why is it such a big dilemma? it's her personal choice, and i believe that zee tv and others here should respect that.
from my personal experience, i have many hindu friends who are very into hinduism, and i can guarantee you that you will never hear them say stuff like "inshallah" or "Allah o akbar," but should that matter to me? no. i don't care. they are great people, and that's why i am friends with them. i respect them regardless of what they believe in. it's all a matter of accepting others' decisions.
"I still feel, given her traditional looks nobody is going to ask her to wear anything but traditional outfits.."
actually, i don't think you can assume that. look at ankita from indian idol. she wore very tom-boyish, head-to-toe kind of clothing, but she was changed to wear more modern outfits.
