All of you did a fantastic job! 👏 Really Great singing for the audition round. Here are my two cents on the performances:

Aseel ji: I really like the sound of your voice. Its sounds very "meetha." Fab job with this song, looking forward to see what you do in the first round.

Saammm: First of all I've been meaning to PM you since for ever now but I will very soon! And now, dude you never said you could sing! Love the song you chose and you did very well! Specially the last two "tinka tinkas" were very good.

Kiti_g: You have a sweet voice and I like the song you chose. I think you did a fabulous job with the song!

Mala ji: Mala ji you sounded just amazing! I don't think I had heard this song before, but you made it sound very beautiful.

Padmaja Ji: Oh My God! With your voice I could just imagine one of the yesteryear actresses singing it on screen, all it was missing is the picturization. So professional it sounded! It was flawless and very sweeett! I can't wait to hear what you sing next.

evilseye: Loved the song! You sang it with great feeling, lovely job!

rock&roll: I hadn't heard this song in the longest time now, thanks for singing it because I got to hear it again. And awesome job! You hit the high notes very well and your pronunciation is very clear.

Donnyy: You didn't sound like a Don at all! Loveeeeddddd the song you chose! And you pulled off the song very well. I really liked the second half, but I wish you had said the "baby, I love you" part. 😳

Arun ji: I abosolutely love the song you chose so you've got me hooked to your singing right from the start. As far as your voice is concerned, there are no need for concerns because you sound like a professional!

Lava29: You have such a sweet voice! You did full justice to the song, it was amazing. I can't pinpoint one thing, but I think what I liked the best were all the "ta ra ra ra rum...ta ra rum pums"

Summer89: You have a very smooth voice and it matched the song nicely. I am looking forward to hear what you sing for the first round.

the_charm: I loved the "tarpay mujhe teri baatein" part! I think those 2-3 lines were your best. Great job!

MiniRulz: You sang very well! My favorite part was...the whole song 😳 😆 Amazing singing!

Coollama: You have a very nice voice texture and you did a fabulous job throughout the song! I've never heard this song before, but its very good. I can't wait to see what you sing for the first round.

Tabu: Your voice is very sweet and I think it suited the song very well. My favorite part in the original and yours is from the "ni muye hoti hai" line. Lovely job!

SuhanaSafar: Nice song choice! And you have a very soft voice which is pleasant to the ears. Great job!

Over all, all of you did very well. 👏 👏 👏 I just want to say one thing to many of you, don't be afraid "to hit the high notes". I know its probably easier said than done but agar khul ke high notes bhi poore gaane ki tarah gaon ge toh the end product will be even better.

Good Luck to all for the first round! 🤗

Love,
Smarty

Heard all the songs except for two. Could not download Tabu and Suhana Safar's as it is in wma format. Looks like a very tough competition. All the songs have been sung very well. Majority of the songs sounded like listening to them for the first time except for a few. I think it would be good if the name of the movie and the song are mentioned .

Also, I really appreciate 👏 "Simply_Smart" for taking the time to listen and for giving a detailed feedback for all the 16 participants.

First of all, congratulations to everybody. The competition is going to be stiff and there seem to be a lot of good singers. I have not heard all the contestants but here are my comments so far (apologies offered in advance, don't mean to offend anyone). Will be back with the others later

Arun Sampath- Koi Hota: Overall, well sung. It was in sur, which is one of the most important things
- A little more thehraav needed
- 'door' hi hota is not sung right, the 'door' harkat is not like the original

Aseel - Suno Na: Sorry, sur was all over the place in spots. You also did not hit the harkats right

coolama - Sainya: Overall, well sung
- Harkats were not always perfect. Understandable since it is a difficult song
- At times, you rushed 'Sainya'
- Overall, it was enjoyable

coolest one - alvida: Your voice quality is good.
- You were off sur too often which made it sound very different from the original
- nervousness was somewhat obvious because your voice seemed shaky at points

evilseye - tinka tinka: Sounded good
- You needed to slow down a little. You rushed the song just a little
- Seemed too short, you should have sung a little more
- A little more masti was needed. The masti nuance was missing

kalpa56 - suno sajna: Very much in sur
- You have to be just a tad careful. At a few places, the harkat did not come out quite as smooth

kiti_g - Ehsaan tera: Note that I am used to mostly hearing the Rafi version
- I liked this a lot
- Only thing I can say is pay a little more attention to pronunciation. At times I felt you were saying 'palkhon' instead of 'palkon'

lava29 - tara ram pam: Very enjoyable
- I think you chose the perfect song for your voice. Could not find fault

mala_sss - Sainya: Good, but something was missing
- Again, harkats were not perfect
- Some parts, you sang better than coolama, others, he sang better. When you started, I thought the other version was obviously better but you picked it up
- Overall, I would give a slight edge to coolama's version. Among other things, you sang at a lower pitch so his sounded more lively

minimouse - main agar kahoon: Enjoyable
- You have to pay a little more attention while listening to the original e.g you sang the 'sach hain kuch bhi nahi' a little differently every time
- Overall, you were in sur

naught_n_nice - tinka tinka: Good
- Your sur was kaccha at places e.g 'bas koi', the koi harkat is not right
- Your pace was better but while evilseye rushed it, I think you slowed it down a tad
- Again, the masti nuance could have been slightly better

Here are my comments on the rest (previous comments appended). Again, sorry if I am being too harsh. I just want to give my honest feedback.

rock&roll - Nahi Nahi: Good
- There is a certain affectation in your rendition which you have to avoid. It is very difficult to convey what I mean here but there is a certain peculiarity to the way you sing certain phrases
- You were in sur throughout the song so you were not besur but there were problems with accuracy. For example, the part where you sing 'Dheere dheere gham ka saagar' and a few other lines, it is a little different in the original

saara - o jaane jaa: Good
- Seemed rushed at a few places. Need a little more thehraav
- 'O jaane jaa' needs to be sung with more pathos

suhanasafar - kabhi kabhi: Voice quality is good
- You have a sweet voice but you were losing sur at too many places (or it almost sounded like a change of scale)

summer89 - tinka tinka: change of scale was a killer
- Your harkats don't come out smooth e.g 'bas koi', the koi harkat needs to be better
- at 'yeh jo ehsaas hain', you completely changed scale which is a very big mistake
- Breathing was also audible, sign of nervousness??

tabu - : Sorry, don't know this song so I don't have any original to compare against like the others
- Something seemed amiss in the transition to 'chahu paas paas aana'. Can't put my finger on it
- Fair effort

the_charm - Zara Zara: Again, change of scale
- You were off sur at too many places. It sounded very different from the original. You also changed scale
- There is too much background noise (cars honking, etc.). You need to record in a quieter environment

Hullo contestants. First of all, great effort by everybody. I have already given my detailed feedback.

Here are some general suggestions from me.
Pick a song that does justice to your voice and singing abilities. Especially in the earlier rounds, pick a song that suits you rather than trying to show your singing prowess. It is better to sing an easier song that you can sing really well rather than attempting a difficult one which falls flat on its face. You will get plenty of opportunities to display your technical prowess in the later rounds You have to be very careful to avoid scale changes. It is really jarring. Easiest way to at least detect a scale change is to listen to the recording at the beginning and then, move your cursor towards the end and see if they are in the same scale. As far as how to avoid it, I don't have the exact answer but one reason this can happen is if you hold back (like when transitioning to high notes). So, try not to hold back and sing more khula
  • Pay attention to subtle nuances in the original song (like the masti or pathos conveyed)
